I have listened to countless numbers of singers over the years and the quality of Al Martino's voice has always impressed me. This song is one of my favs!

Apologies for this comment being 12 years late, I am writing it in early March 2024. But you are absolutely correct. This is, in my opinion, the best vocal version of this song. I am a big Al Martino fan, and I really think this song suits him well.

I first heard of Al when I was 15 back in 2004. He's always had a special place in my heart, I love how he had so much emotion in his voice. I was devastated when I learned he passed. I miss him. Heaven has one more angelic voice up there singing now.

He is awesome...what a beautiful voice and song. What happened to this type of music? Today's music is garbage. I was born in mid 80's, but I listen to this type of music. the artists were sooooo much better in those days. Well God bless them all. Good day folks!!!

It must have been in grade 4 that we sang this in class. I knew a version with lyrics and our teacher had us sing it (and maybe played it for us on the school record player). Since this was version hit the radio in 1968 it would have been the winter/spring of '68. Singing as a class was always part of Art "back in the day". My kids never experienced that.

When I was in public grade school (two years were in Catholic school), we seemed to have music teachers that were into the music we heard on the radio. The second music teacher we had, had us learn the lyrics to this song for some school program, but, since it was 1968, I forgot them. Just remembered, blue, blue, my world is blue, and red, red, my eyes were red. I hear the instrumental all the time, since its on my favorites list, but, I like to listen to the sung version, too.

The Al Martino version is nice, but hardly can compare to the original version sung by the original singer, Vicky Leandros in English kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqe1aKOpf5uoe68 , and in French kzbin.info/www/bejne/oaTIl6Stf7mqZ9k . Both versions, as the other ones Leandros sung in Dutch, German and Italian, have all the original arrangements by Popp which suit much better a female voice, and are delightful.

Merci! Bravo, je suis trés touché et ému!
