I find it funny how fiction usually doesn't depict identical multiple births personality right. Sometimes multiple births will be portrayed with drastically different personalities. More often twins are essentially portrayed as a single person with two bodies. This is closer to the truth than drastically different. Identical twins, triplets, quintuplets and so on have common genetic material and usually share near identical conditions in their formative years (having the same parents and usually the same friends and so on). Identical multiple births usually have very similar but not identical personalities. The most realistic depictions I saw were with the anime The Quintessential Quintuplets and the Canadian show Johnny Test.

@@shubhamsinghrajput931 I'm from the East coast of NA. Seems like fiction tries to usually make the difference between twins a bit too much and make them too unique a lot of the time. That might make sense if one grew up with their parents and the other was lost and ended up in an orphanage, but often times fictional identical twins are too unique without an explanation. The Hiiragi twins from Lucky Star are different, but they are fraternal twins.

These are also characters, so making them distinguishable is often the case to make them more memorable or to create a readable contrast. Could also be done for conflict reasons as well

Interestingly, case studies have shown that twins are often more similar to each other separated at birth than they are if they grow up together. Growing up with someone so similar to you in such similar circumstances makes you want to pursue other interests in order to distinguish yourself as an individual.

Okay reading a synopsis/spoiler(?) of this series, it seems kinda idiotic. Speaking from experience, this kind of stuff can be solved if one simply talks to the other about their feelings for the third person. In my experience, a best friend of mine and I were friends with a girl. We both liked the girl and both of us knew this so one day both of us sat down and talked about it. We decided to "compete" but not do anything to hurt the others' chances. A simple talk kept our friendship together and tho at the time, neither of us went out with the girl, we still remain friends to this day AND this was in high school. If something like this is happening and you don't want to lose the other person's friendship (the other who has feelings), talk it out. Maybe bout 3-4 times out of 5, you can keep being friends despite the outcome. But sometimes or often than not, the pain may not let you keep being friends so you may say goodbye and that happens. To me, that shouldn't hold one back from exploring or finding out how if things could work out in love. That's my message to yall out there. Try out love. Maybe you get with them, maybe you dont. Maybe you even think the outcome could be worse than losing just 1 friend. But that what if of you asking them out and how it couldve turn out will eat at you and make you regret not trying for a long time. Friends come and go but some say love or true love, you only got one shot. Give it a try.
