I felt a deep sadness hearing about this cultural backlash for two reasons. First, it's frustrating that some people are still trying to enforce a divide between Caribbean and African cultures when we all have roots in Africa. I found it beautiful to see both cultures represented. Second, it's disappointing how quickly people on social media jump to condemn. Indiyah and Dami are breaking new ground, and it's rare for Black people to get opportunities like this. Instead of supporting them or addressing concerns more covertly, the criticism is public. This situation highlights the saying that Black communities often don’t support their own in the way others do. Thus, it will widen the gap when it's time for others to get similar opportunities.

I've noticed that many Africans keep insisting that Caribbeans are simply Africans, but it's more complex than that. Yes and no-this confusion comes from mixing identity, ethnicity, and race. While a lot of Caribbeans have African ancestry due to the transatlantic slave trade, Caribbean culture is much more diverse. It's shaped by centuries of history, including not only African heritage but also European, Indian, Indigenous, and Chinese influences. Reducing Caribbean identity to just African heritage overlooks the unique experiences, struggles, and cultural developments, especially involving European powers like the UK, Spain, France, and the Dutch, who frequently invaded and recolonized each other’s territories in the Caribbean. This is particularly true given the history of slavery, forced or invited immigration to the UK for rebuilding efforts after WWII, and the subsequent racism, discrimination, restrictions, and poverty that many Caribbean people endured in the UK. Caribbean identity is distinct and deserves to be recognized for its rich, multifaceted heritage-not erased by oversimplification.

Welcome to the Love Is Blind world, I finished the season today, just waiting for the reunion. I will say it has been enjoyable, though LIB Brazil 🇧🇷 remains my favorite. UK is right there, prime entertainment. 😊

I agree. It has been good. I do find it a bit annoying the way they drop episodes. I wish they would do it in the evening. You feel like it's old news by the time you sit down to watch it...

I agree about Tom and Molly. People do things backwards this generation but yeah as a Christian that wouldn’t be the way. How would you buy a house with a boyfriend? Let’s hope that have a contract drawn up on what happens when they split and what share goes to who. Anyway, what works for them.

Exactly! I think also, speaking as a man, I do feel men perhaps need marriage to anchor them down a bit more. If you're not married then the lady in question is literally your 'girlfriend'. I would find it easier to leave a 'girlfriend' than a 'wife' to be honest. Again though, that is just my opinion.

Hey man a while ago you posted commentary on a video that had my face in it. It wasn’t negative about me (I was caught in the crossfire) but now everytime someone searches my name the video pops up on google images. I’m trying to live a life away from the internet and have a career. Is there anyway I could request you remove it with a fuller explanation on discord, email, etc? I don’t want to pour my story on public youtube comments 😅 Please let me know and thanks so much!

Dami made some jokes about not having to marry Indiyah because she is Jamaican and her culture doest require it. he has made many jokes like that and it caused backlash from the Jamaican community. Having this collab for carnival and adding his culture to it when it has nothing to do with it and him saying bad things about Jamaican culture in the past makes no sense, they knew the backlash would come. People dont want Dami profiting from a culture he degrades

I can understand that. I wasn't aware of the things he had said about Jamaican culture. I must admit, I've never been the biggest fan of his but sometimes saying such things can cause such a pile on, I just don't have the energy to deal with it...
