His catalog is filled with poetic and thought-provoking songs such as "Englishman In New York", The Shape of My Heart , "Russians", and "Fragile". This song, poetically, is the love story of a farmer, a barley farmer, who recalls asking a woman to marry him by speaking of the promises he has made, "some that he broke," paraphrasing, but that this was one promise that he intended to keep, "...in the days still left..." or for the rest of his life. In a later verse he speaks of the present, "...see the children run as the sun goes down..." However, at the beginning and the end he mentions, "...you'll remember me..." and I take that to mean that after he has died, she can remember their years and times on their barley farm which was so golden and heavenly that even the sun with its golden brightness would be jealous. Its a lovely song, performed wonderfully. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Sting is a great musician and performed as a vocalist and arranger for the rock group, "The Police" and made his fortune during the 1980s. Like many artists who have found their success and finally make the artworks they prefer rather than the popular ones that make money, I believe this was one of Sting's sincere efforts at his own artistic desire. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

@@DizJakeOG Yes, I enjoy their reactions, but I often wonder what kind of upbringing they had. I spent my teenage years listening to music non-stop. By the time I was 20 I had heard every hit since the 1950s. The fact that they haven't even heard of so many superstars is so bizarre to me.

They've been obsessed with their favorite artists like Led Zeppelin, Elton John, Pink Floyd, ELO and play them endlessly. They need to open up to other great artists. Sting they should know from the Police which they have reacted to already.

Their “upbringing”?? They are 29 yrs old. Hip hop & Rap was their diet. They are only beginning to get an understanding and appreciate for the musical talent & legends that predates their birth. Give them their due. They are gradually getting educated and this is a perfect example of how far they still have to go. I applaud their journey and awakening.

When these two were kids, sting would have already been on the classics stations and off the mainstream. Same with The Police. As for not recognizing him, they did 2 very up tempo Police songs with a much younger Sting. Older, more chill Sting is almost a different artist when you combine the mellow song with a completely different backing orchestration by a totally different band

He was nicknamed Sting because he always wore a yellow shirt with black stripes to rehearsals

You guys know Sting! He was in the Police. You reacted to their "Every Breath You Take" and "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic". This is Sting having gone solo. He had none other than Branford Marsalis (from the first family of jazz from New Orleans) on sax in his band. His music had a jazz influence. Many great songs to react to. I think "Fields of Gold" is his most beautiful. I think Eva Cassidy did a cover of this. Sting is another artist that appeared at Live Aid.

This song represents a lot. My past was the fields of gold. We all walked them and now they are gone. This song............

This was a genre I didn’t really listen to in the 90s as I was more into alternative and grunge as a teen, but I did own this album. Sting is a great lyricist. His song “When We Dance” is, in my humble opinion, perfection Edit: Yes, the instrument is a mandolin. Good ear! Same tuning as a violin, but double strings. I am a violin player and have messed around with the mandolin, but I’m not very good at it 😊

I've been watching you guys for a while and I really have to say, I LOVE the way you guys don't just listen to a song, you experience it. The way you close your eyes and just feel it. Especially when you listen to any of my favorite songs. Including this peaceful ballad. Keep it up.

Sting has publicly said that Eva Cassidy's version is his favourite. This of course is still a gorgeous song and delivered with class. But check out Eva

This song was from late in Sting’s popular period (mid-1990s), but he has been a giant in the music industry from late 1970s to today. He started with the Police and then went solo mid-1980s. His biggest other solo hits are Love is the Seventh Wave, Englishmen in New York, Desert Rose, Russians, Fragile, If I Ever Lose My Faith in You, They Dance Alone, and Brand New Day. His album Soul Cages was not popular, but it is a gem of an album about his personal life growing up - melancholy with a sea theme. It is well worth a listen. Cheers.

I didn't fall in love with Sting until this song, which I love so much I want it played at my funeral. This album "Ten Summoner's tales" was huge, then I started listening to his other albums, and then I became a Police Fan. The Police had a reunion tour in 2008, they had broken up in the 80s and didn't do anything new but did a tour. The concert was probably the only concert I attended where I knew the words to every song. Was incredible. I love Sting so much I saw him on his brand new day tour on each coast. Great artist. Glad you guys discovered him and this was your first reaction.

You have listened to Sting before. He was a member of the Police, and you watched a video of them singing "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic". Same lead singer. His music, once he went solo, was absolutely wonderful. Some of the albums that captured me were "The Dream of the Blue Turtles", "Nothing Like the Sun", Mercury Falling", etc....all incredible and filled with songs that speak to your soul.

The best concert I ever attended hands down, end of story (and I saw Def Leppard 3 times, Journey, Yes, Van Halen twice, Don Henley, U2, etc.), was Sting at Red Rocks outside Denver. We bought general seating to try to get seats close to the stage. We camped out for hours and hours to get in. We got about the 10th row center. He came out mid-afternoon for a sound check. There were only about 20 rows there at that point. It turned into a 45 minute intimate small-venue style mini-concert. He was very personable. Came and sat on the edge of the stage, chatted with us, joked with us. He was just a pleasure and a joy I never expected. Then there was the main concert later at sunset. This is a soft, quiet song from Sting. He has many amazing soft slow songs to just enjoy his voice and the many unique instruments he and his band use. Great examples of more like this are “Why Should I Cry for You?”, “The Hounds of Winter”, “I Was Brought to My Senses.” Oh my gosh the beauty of those songs! He really sings all kinds of genres, slow, quiet almost classical, jazz, R&B, reggae, pop-rock, even dabbling a little bit of countryish sound in “I’m So Happy That I Can’t Stop Crying.” His lyrics are so poetic and deep they almost cut you to the core. He is witty. He’s tongue in cheek. He can be almost Shakesphearic ( a new word). He is an Englishman, yet he also sings in Spanish, French, and Latin. He has a song that is very Arabic, sung with an Arabic singer. “Soul Cages, Russians, If You Love Someone, Englishman In New York, Moon Over Bourbon Street, If I Ever Lose My Faith In You, Love is Stronger than Justice, Saint Augustine in Hell, Heavy Cloud No Rain, She’s Too Good for Me, Fragile,” and the list goes on and on. Sting is one serious rabbit hole! That’s not even counting his career with The Police, a little old punk rock band in the late 70’s and into the 80s. I see you did Roxanne. So many, many good ones more from The Police…Message in a Bottle…great base line on that one! Sting was the bassist for The Police. Don’t Stand so Close, Synchronicity 2, King of Pain, and what is pretty much universally considered the #1 song of the 80’s ( #1 on the end of the decade countdowns), Every Breath You Take…killer bass line from Sting. He reportedly hated the song too. Will be looking for more The Police and Sting from you!

I'm astonished that after years of doing your videos this is the first time you hear about Sting . Sting is big, very very big, In fact he is one of the most important musicians of all the eighties and nineties. and he is one of the rare musicians that became much bigger after he left his original band (The Police) and had a magnificent discography. I think you should listen more to his work it's very rich

There's so much beautiful music by Sting. He's a true original, with especially creative time signatures, rhythms, and chord progressions. More, please. Three recommendations: (1) Fortress Around Your Heart; (2) Russians; (3) They Dance Alone.
