When George Harrison passed away from cancer on November 29, 2001, I put this song on and played it until I was cried out. That such a beautiful spirit had been taken from us so cruelly was more than I could bear. I think this song, about winter leaving a spring coming, captures his sweet, gentle heart so well. Here they were with a deadline for an album and with only really a few legitimate songs. So, Paul turned to George Martin for help. For Ringo, I would recommend his solo stuff, like It Don't Come Easy, or Photograph. However, for a his earliest compositions, Octopus' Garden is a peek into Ringo's whimsy, as is Don't Pass Me By. Early 1970, is a very interesting take by Ringo, about the Beatles, immediately post break up, each verse describes Ringo's relation to each of the members, and then a self deprecating final verse describing his own musical limitations at the time. He is still releasing original music at age 81, with only covid limiting him from touring.

All four of The Beatles (John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr) sang lead vocals on their songs. Most songs feature Lennon or McCartney, but George did a few on each album, and many of his songs are among the Beatles most popular (Here Comes the Sun, Something, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, etc.). Ringo had the fewest number of songs, but a few of his were big hits as well (Yellow Submarine, Octopus Garden, and he sang lead on With a Little Help From My Friends - though he didn't write that one). That's one of the reasons The Beatles were so amazing. Each member of the group was a talented singer/songwriter. And YES, they definitely have some "harder" songs. Back in the USSR, Twist and Shout, Helter Skelter, etc. are pretty hard rock for the time period and most of their early hits were fast-paced rock songs.

John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote almost 300 songs together. The main writer of each song took the lead vocal. George Harrison also wrote songs for the Beatles and sang lead vocals on his songs including Here comes the Sun. I hope this helps to inform your Beatles song choices in the future

The single (rather than LP version) of "Revolution" is a bit harder edged, too. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHiveK2Ijb5oeNk Or you could go back earlier for "And Your Bird Can Sing" from Revolver, or even to the start of their careers with songs like "Twist and Shout" or "Long Tall Sally" (both are cover versions). And I believe I heard Paul McCartney say that "Helter Skelter" was made to impress Pete Townsend of The Who with how loud and hard-edged a Beatles track could be. Some even see it as a song that led other musicians to move toward 'heavy metal'. So many great songs with lead sung by each of these great talents, from "Come Together" to "In My Life" and "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Norwegian Wood" sung by John Lennon; "Paperback Writer" or "Eleanor Rigby" or "Penny Lane" or "Lady Madonna" sung by Paul McCartney; "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" or "Something" or "Taxman" sung by George Harrison; and "Yellow Submarine" or "Octopus' Garden" or "With A Little Help From My Friends" sung by Ringo Starr. And that's just scraping the surface, of course.
