Here in Iowa, cattails are a great perch for birds. It’s nice because they’re close to the edge of the water so your subjects are close. I’ve given up my camera straps and traded up to a Cotton Carrier G3 harness. I’ve used it with my 105mm macro up to my 180-600mm lens. Quick access and no bouncing around

I’m pretty sure that what you thought was milk weed is actually cattails. With regard to the sling camera strap, I have one of those as well. I tend to use it when I’m relatively stationary. Otherwise, I’ve switched to a Cotton Carrier hand grip camera strap. It’s way faster to get the camera up to the eye and it doesn’t bounce around. It also doesn’t flap in the breeze when the camera is on a tripod.

I have the Cotton Carrier G3 harness and it’s great for hiking around hands free. I added the lens bucket to it so I can put my GoPro in it or water bottle or anything else I need to carry

Cotton Carrier G3......I need to check that out. Thanks!!! oh also, I had the joy of watching a Gold Finch up close as it worked its way around.....none other than a Cattail last week while waiting to pick up students at a bus stop. If only that would happen when I had a camera with me!!

@@GarrickGillettePhotography They nest late so it was probably gathering material for its nest. I need to go to my local wetland that has a lot of cattails and see if I can get some images. I think you'll love the Cotton Carrier
