Your new pants fit you so well! That color is great with the sage green sweater. If I'm not mistaken, the pocket panel is a pocket stay. If you use Power Net instead of fashion fabric across that area, it helps with shaping. That is the way I've seen it used in RTW.

I think that front pocket style adds tummy control for some. I can sure benefit from that.

Love Notions is my favorite pattern company! They also use this pocket design in their Sabrina Slims (my favorite all time pant pattern), yes it reduces the lines on dress pants. I hack this pattern for a center fly (and cut this pocket to attach to the fly) works better with my short arms. I like your idea of the template for your crotch curve!

I did make those pants, was my huge learning curve fitting, so glad it had all that information in it, so I’ve had a sloper since those. I made it out of bengaline, which turned out to be too thick really for an invisible zipper, but I went ahead per instructions and ended up giving them away. I don’t have a use for a ‘real’ set of trousers, so probably won’t make this again, but never say never. I’m surely indebted to them for setting my lower torso fit! Worth all the work for me. Have used my sloper many times since then.

Thank you!. Have you taken a look at the fitting guide that comes with the Duet pattern? It looks really good and easy to understand. Last year I bought the book "Pants for Real People: Fit and Sew for Any Body" and studied it a bit. I found that to be helpful, although if I remember correctly, their main premise is doing tissue fitting which I'm not comfortable with. Still, I learned a lot from it. For me, what it came down to is making a muslin (for a different pant) a while back, painstakingly getting the fit just right, then tracing those pieces onto paper. That became my go-to for all pants that I've done since.

I've made the Duet trousers in both ponte knit and stretch denem. Your gabardine trousers look great! I agree with your thoughts about the pocket construction and the zipper installation; its different, but not bad. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your capsule wardrobe. The pocket construction is great, it does two things, one it helps with tummy bulge and the other thing is keeping your pockets from riding up showing. My Jean pockets do that and it drives me crazy. Burda patterns make their pants this way. I love it. I do believe that the invisible zipper instructions tell you to install the zipper the way L N tell you to do it. Of course you don't do that for regular zippers, just invisible zippers.

Great job on the pants. I've been meaning to make them for aaaages, I even have purchased fabric for it. I think Whitney from TomKat Stitchery put power mesh across the front pocket. Sounds genius to me!

Thanks so much, Carol! Yes, I do like the way they feel while wearing them. They're comfortable and I think that's due to both the fit of the pattern and also the fabric. If I wasn't on a fabric ban, I think I'd be tempted to get another piece of that Stylemaker gabardine in a different color to set aside for a second pair.

Hi Angela! Wonderful pants! I've got the pattern, I want to do the stretch version and just need to remember that I've got the pattern! Re the zip: The instructions that come with invisible zips have step-by-step pictures that describe this very same thing, and I believe most Big 4 patterns use this method. You can sew downwards to near the bottom stop then complete the rest of the seam, rather than have to sew the bottom of the zip in next to a closed seam end 😊I need to go get that pattern printed!! I want me some ponte Duets!

I struggled with invisible zips until I found the foot that works the best for me; now they're easier - and look better - than when I use standard zips. I've found that all the instructions in the zipper package are really helpful. Happy zipper sewing!!

The fit looks great Angela! I really like the fabric color - I bet you will find it goes well with a lot of things! I have not seen front pockets like that before either. Side note: pretty necklace! At first I thought maybe it spelled a word, but is it birds on a wire instead?

Great idea! I wouldn't mind doing a video on this, just not sure if I'm the best one with my very limited experience. Love Notions is the only brand I've printed so far and thinking back, I tried to print a True Bias pattern about a year ago and messed it all up.

Love notions has some videos about that on their channel. I have a bunch of their $5 Friday specials patterns that I have never printed out. I just received a gift card 💳 that will be used to have PDF Plotting print them for me. I no longer print out patterns myself if I can get someone else to do it 😊. I hope you figure it out. I have found the steps to printing them out can vary depending on the printer that is used.

Hi Gina, thank you! Side zips aren't my favorite either. I think I will really love doing these pants in the knit version at some point and just using the 3" elastic.
