@@TracieLin They are not as severe in as intensity but are in number of days. Basically the strength of them lessened after puberty but the number of days per week did not. I think that was in combonation due to there being no medications until the mid 90s to take to abort a migraine once you got one just daily preventative medications.

"Love Of My Life" was composed as a letter written from the perspective of his forever love , Mary Austin. Freddie writes about how betrayed Mary must've felt when she realised she was losing him (even though they never really lost each other). It is said that Mary was left with Freddie's ashes, and only she knows where Freddie rest. Honestly, such an amazing piece based on a undeniably soulful relationship, written by a selfless genius.I love it. You played it beautifully :)

Yes, I am very touched by the relationship between Freddie and Mary. If ever there's true love, this is it! They are indeed soulmates with deep soul connections no matter if they are physically together or not. The love they have for each other goes beyond space and time, and this song says it all. Thank you so much for your comments!

That is beautiful Tracie. And you make those lever changes look so easy! I am trying to get used to accidentals, and I admit I am struggling with it. Thank you for the beautiful song. I love the sound that comes from that 432hz. I tuned my Brittany to that frequency for playing in the hospital after listening to several of your videos in that tuning.
@TracieLin5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Mark! For me, lever changes are not a big deal when there is plenty of time. It's when you only have a split second that really gets me. You would have to know the song extremely well to master those lever changes. I'm glad you resonate with the 432hz. I believe it will bring additional soothing quality to the harp vibrations.

shonerip This is a lever (Celtic) harp. So those things I keep flipping on the top of the harp are called levers. Each lever will sharp that particularly note. This is how a lever harp can play more chromatic tunes.

Wow beautiful! This is probably one of the most lever changes I've seen someone do in a song, so skillful! Curious how long does it take for you to learn a song like this?
@TracieLin5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Jessie! From working on the arrangement to getting it performance ready, I'd say it took close to 4 months. When I first came up with the arrangement, I thought to myself there's no way I can play this song well enough to record. I felt like a nervous octopus 😆. I guess when there is a will, there is a way. I'm glad I challenged myself to it. Now, other songs don't seem so bad LOL.

Tracie, this is such a beautiful piece but also played with such passion and musicality. Your playing mesmerizes me when I hear it. I especially love this Serenade. I have a Serenade in chestnut finish with folk gut strings. Is that what you have-that particular combination?
@TracieLin5 жыл бұрын
Awww, thank you so much for your kind comment! Yes, this Serenade is in chestnut finish with contrasting sound board, but it has nylon strings. I actually tried converting to fluorocarbon, but I didn't like how it sounds more like a guitar than a harp in the middle range. Then I tried putting folk gut on but somehow the tones didn't feel as full and resonant as nylon (maybe I didn't let it settle long enough?). And the lower octave sounds a bit dull and thuddy compared to nylon . So I switched back to nylon. I am keeping the fluorocarbon strings on where nylon wrapped used to be to help with better clarity and less muddying effect. And that's what you are hearing in this video. All the previous videos with Serenade are all nylon. Hope this helps :-)
@Nelsonbrook335 жыл бұрын
@@TracieLin That's all quite interesting! I've owned several Serenades in the past, one in nylon and one in gut. On the nylon-strung, I changed out to guts, but it just didn't "sound right," so I put the nylons back on, and it opened up again to it's normal beautiful, warm voice. The one I have now has only ever been strung in folk gut, and it sounds amazing as well. Sharon told me that it just depends on the individual harp among the Serenade model what sounds better with gut vs. nylon. I've owned a lot of different lever harps in my lifetime, but the Serenade I have now is one of the all-time best harps. I also have a Lorraine single-strung, which is a close second (for that kind of harp). I tried a double Lorraine, but I just couldn't get my eyes to adjust no matter what I did. So I'm sticking with single-strung, but I'll sure be able to listen and enjoy players like you who work wonders with those beautiful double-strung harps of Gary Stone! Knowing me, I'll try one again someday. :) Thank you again for your amazing music and for taking the time to share it through these recordings!

Wow, thank you for sharing your experience with me. I see that you have played so many different harps before. It’s reassuring to know I have 2 of the top harps on your list.
