Favorite live acoustical guitar and lyrical performance of all time. Not my favorite song, or composition, or any other qualification. Especially the studio But something in particular about this specific performance is truly captivating and moving. Partially I think the Genesis of the song itself. And in this performance Dave commits to only asserting himself to provide the framework and let's Carlos completely do his thing. And it's amazing

This version pwns the other electric version where there are dancers prancing around on stage. If anything THIS should be the main version. Excellent acoustic solos Tim n Carlos!

This is the first song I heard Dave Matthews sing. Clapton played "The Calling" on the same album, "Supernatural." One of my "Top Ten" albums ever, thank you Carlos Santana.

Everything about this song just works to create an emotional bond with the audience. The acoustic melody, the crowd cheering, and the tempo at the end. Simply phenomenal...Great music is timeless.

@chumpey They were not competing, so no one owned no one. They were playing different guitars. Santana's was a nylon strings guitar while Tim's was a steel guitar. So the solos have to be different. And each guitarrist plays different. Santana felt like play that way in that moment and Tim the same thing. When Tim was born, Santana was a legend guitarrist already. There's no way Tim can owne Carlos! You have to listen musicians as if they were uniques. Try not to compare them!
@sps6015 жыл бұрын
it seems like it was really easy for this tim guy to do his solo's i did notice he is using very thin strings on his guitar which probably helps with the ease of some of those wild riffs plus gives a different sound compared to santana's classic sound

Santana was always better on the electric anyway. It is the sound and feel that you recognize him by. Tim's bread and butter is the acoustic. His solo's are godly, and way better than when he goes electric
