Eliza doesn’t get to play mind games with Rodney, wanting him to tell her not to go on the date after already accepting it and then chastise him for not being intentional. All the while regret picking him and then tell him she made the wrong choice for her the next day.

I think the most wholesome aspect of the season is Shanae being everyone's gal pal even her mortal enemies. She really did some reflection and came back with a winning attitude. I think they are going to regret choosing Zach as the Bachelor after this episode. I don't think I have ever seen so many people rally around one guy contestant ever in this show. That really warmed my heart and moistened my eyes. Good luck Rodney.

Of course Eliza's behavior shows some of her immaturity, but let's not dismiss the pressure cooker of the beach so quickly. This cohort, in particular, came from seasons of the main shows where we've seen groupthink/pile-ons directly affect other castmates' experience on set and back in the real world. Add to that mix that Rodney is a genuinely great guy who is beloved like no one I can recall, as well as reportedly a more intensified, seemingly miserable Paradise setup thid year, and I can easily imagine how Eliza lost her way.

You hit the nail on the head. Eliza seriously thinks she's the bachelorette and this show is about her. She's not focused on the real feelings of others, just solely thinking about herself. It's tough because it seems her age is showing. When you get older & more mature, you're able to deal with situations with more wisdom and better able to handle people's emotions. I don't think what she did was wrong but she definitely didn't handle people's feelings with care or consideration. That was the real tragedy - not her decision making but her lack of empathy.

I think Eliza picked Rodney because everyone and their mother said to. I don’t think Eliza is a bad person. She was a person with options and saw value in both. But felt the pressure to choose stability. Rodney kicked Lace to the curb and still got a great edit. No one is all good and all bad but unfortunately there’s good and bad edits that picture you that way. It baffles me that Kate literally talked about money and stability and in the end chose someone whose “just hot” but she does not nearly have the same hate.. so weird

Omg, so true. Rodney said in episode 6 that he had a short list of ladies he had hoped to meet and Eliza was "one of those names". So as soon as Eliza hit the beach, Rodney dropped Lace even after spending all those days lying around the beach kissing her and no one seemed to care. No one would force Rodney to love Lace. So just b/c every cast member there was in love with Rodney wanted to see him coupled up in love like them. Like we all know Rodney would make a good husband but it doesn't necessarily mean that he's Eliza's future husband. Just because Rodney was all in for Eliza we are supposed to be heartbroken for him. But yet Lace was all in for Rodney and we're supposed to shrug it off. It's actually more of a popularity contest than anything.

I think Eliza loves Rodney as much as everyone else there.. and in the same way - as a friend. If Serene loves Rodney so much , why isn't she trying to get him ? Or Genevieve? Or Kate? I think Eliza had that magical "thing" you have no control over with Justin. That chemical, phenome, butterflies ,can't explain thing, at first glance. I don't think she handled the ' you should have told me not to go ' right, but we all make mistakes . Maybe it was her gut telling her all along that something was missing in her feelings for Rodney and was unaware it was coming from her end ,not his . Not only is peer pressure tough, but she must've felt very confused with everyone telling her to go for Rodney, and lost confidence in her own gut feeling.(I 've picked the wrong guy before. Maybe 'they ' know better than me) She finally did listen to her own feelings, rather than everyone elses (for her , not for them) and had the guts and kindness to tell Rodney. She could've played along and dumped him after BIP ,when there was less pressure. If you're going to hold Eliza accountable for Rodney not finding love , then you need to hold every woman on the beach, except Lace, accountable too. And, you need to hold Rodney accountable for breaking Lace's hart. I wish the best for all 3 , Rodney , Justin, and Eliza. Welcome to the 'always a beloved bridesmaid never a bride ' club Rodney. Good example of " to thine own self be true" , everyone gets hurt if you don't.

Agree with you. I also felt that no one on that beach really cared about Eliza's feelings or what was best for her. They just saw her as a means of happiness for Rodney, a means for Rodney to stay on the beach and continue his holiday with them all - it was all Rodney Rodney Rodney. I think Eliza felt all that pressure from all of them. She's young, impressionable, wanting to please, needs time to mature - but is not a bad person. She might not of handled it as well as she could, but I'm not surprised she made the decisions she did, and then just emotionally shut down.

I feel very badly for Eliza. She clearly liked Justin better but felt pressured into Rodney. Not just by the beach, but I imagine she was dreading what the viewers were going to say if she didn't pick Rodney. She is also shown some immaturity in how she handled her own emotions, let alone other people's. She isn't a villain and doesn't deserve to be treated as such. This is why we need older contestants.
