You should do a reaction to Young Royals on Netflix it represents the lgbt+ community in such a beautiful raw way and the way the actor that plays the prince acted out his anxiety and panic attacks was so well portrayed for it to be seen and understood was so great to see in a tv show. Reminded me of OG Skam also the actors all looking their age and with their imperfections was also a plus for me. Give it a chance!

I get why Alex hates the mum so much but as a coloured catholic person, I do get why the mum reacted the way she did. Although Catholics are more accepting now, there is still a lot of negative stigma around this in the coloured community and it is how the majority of us are raised. As a centennial (gen z) and a second-generation immigrant it didn't really pass down to me but it is hard to break from what we have been taught.

The trouble I was having with Isabel is she comes across as a bit of a hypocrite here. Like she’s gonna be conflicted over her son and her faith as if she didn’t have a whole affair with her husband’s boss. Like Victor said, he was willing to move past her betrayals, but she can’t move past this?

The whole “being something wrong” thing actually makes it all worse. It does not put this faith in a positive light. It implies God deliberately made her child gay just to damn him. She even asks Armando in episode 5 why this is happening to Victor, to which he responds that it isn’t a punishment. The question they aren’t asking is WHY would a good God be so cruel as to deliberately set people up to fail? And why would you want to worship an entity that is so cruel? But I also understand the church teaches people from the word go not to question anything, I suspect more to make it easier for the people in charge to hold onto power. I’m a spiritual person myself, but I took great pains to avoid the church just because of the amount of control they assert and the double message that’s often taught of God being both good and cruel.

I’m going to push back on this. I think it’s a crutch and an excuse to use religious/cultural reasons to look past homophobia and it does nothing but allow those tropes to continue in future generations. We call out members of the Republican Party for their blatant homophobia all the time. We did it towards Victor’s grandparents in S1. Why does Isa get to have a pass? Addressing and calling out her homophobia is needed! It helps for her future development. When you have catholic PoC who are accepting of the queer community, it’s hard to continue the “oh it’s the stigma” when it’s the homophobia, something that clearly catholic PoC are making moves towards being accepting. Rome wasn’t built in a day but at least they made progress while building. Isa didn’t do that until much later, and should get called out for that. It’s okay that she has to unlearn things but it’s not okay that she wasn’t making an effort to do so, which only hurt Victor in the end.

You are so adorable..Love your videos man. Yeah my parents acted the same way Isabelle did and unfortunately didn't get any better. They basically disowned me and told me "no son of theirs will ever be gay and that they could never love me". That was several years ago. I left home and didn't look back. It hurt like hell. I have cried over that entire situation so much but I have learned that family does not necessarily mean blood related and my true friends that accept and love me unconditionally..they are my family now. I still think about my family all the time and yes I do love them even though they could even care less about me and treated me like complete garbage. So many has asked me how can I still love them after the way they treated me..well I like to think I'm a good person and two wrongs don't make a right. I'm not cold hearted. I can't turn love off like that. Sorry for rambling on..Btw I like all meat pizza..please do post all your love victor reactions here.

The way Victor's mom hit to close home. Coming out in a Latino Catholic family can be difficult sometimes. My mom wanted to send me to conversion therapy. It was rough in the beginning.

Yeah it sucks that in the Latin community the older generation always has trouble with this issue. When I came out to my parents my mom treated me horrible and said some aweful things but my dad shut her down and told her to leave me alone. LOL it was awesome!!! I understand that watching a parent react in this way is upsetting, but it's a bit childish to demonize them entirely. Whenever this happens it's always because of the reality in which that parent was raised and lives in. That is far different than the world of today's youth, and if they're not around it you cant expect them to automatically feel what others feel. But it's usually not their fault, especially in the case of the Mom. And we of course see later that she comes around once she wraps her mind around everything and accepts that it's a natural part of Victor.
