I didn't get the punk thing, so the post punk scene was so refreshing with lots of great stuff at the end of the 70s, still got my JD vinyl. Great reaction.

Thanks Stephen. Yes it was a great time for music at the end of the 70s and in so many different genres but I do love the post punk genre 🤗

Love your analysis Sue and Shannon and this band were from the Manchester area, like me, - Salford and the song was recorded in south Manchester town of Stockport and the title is an ironic about face of the Neil Sedaka song Love will keep us together. Ian Curtis was a great singer but was diagnosed with epilepsy and that meant medications and he took himself off this world a week before the release of the record. By all accounts he was a lovely, gentle person. Like you said Sue, the remaining members created New Order. Everyone in Manchester and Salford were shocked and new about Joy Division, not least because their producer was a guy called Tony Wilson and he was on our TVs five days a week. Factory records I think it was called.

Thank you, Willster. I appreciate the backstory. Your area has such a rich history of so many great bands. So sad about Ian...loved his voice. Wishing you a happy weekend, Willster from me here in Canada 🥰

Masterpiece But was not recognized as one when it was released. I am a huge music fan and was aware of Joy Division but not overly interested in 1980 , not like the stir that Blue Monday had which as phenomenal ( i still have my 12” single ) I would love you to check out Transmission from Joy Division Or New Order : Bizarre Love Triangle and its excellent video Or Frente : excellent cover of Bizarre Love Triangle I saw New Order with Iggy Pop on vocals sing Love will Tear us Apart and Transmission it was in incredible Just arriving back from short trip. Couldn’t arrive back for a better track

Hey Jesse, I hope your trip was good. I am so glad you enjoyed this one. I agree. This song is a masterpiece and I think because of Ian's death so soon after recording and the formation of N.O. and having them take off so quickly, it went unknown for a bit. I was talking about this with someone yesterday who mentioned he knew of J.D. only after knowing N.O. and I think that is common. Thanks for the suggestions. You named some good ones. I don't know many people who know Frente. I should have known you would 😁💗

Hi Sue, This is a great song & a great version. Blue Monday was even better by the band. As you know, I'm more into pure poppy sounds, so I prefer the version by Paul Young, which was a bigger hit.

Paul Young did a version of Blue Monday? I had no idea. I will have to look for that one, Dave. Thanks a bunch 🥰

This is a brilliant song, and it gets a 9 out of 10 rating from me .. The thing that stops it from being a 10 is my old peeve, the muddy vocal mix .. How I wish they hadn't made Ian's vocals so murky and hard to hear for most of it .. I know it's a dark song, and maybe they were going for that type of atmosphere, but a little more clarity would have made this classic just perfect.

Hi Wayne, I think you did explain it. I think they were going for that haunting kind of sound which makes the sound slightly muffled. I think they wanted to stay away from clear so it wouldn't sound bright. I understand pet peeves. Sometimes there is just that little thing you just can't get over. As a result, as in this case for you, you can let it go but other times, it just ruins it. I am glad it didn't ruin it for you because it is such a good tune 😊💗
