I have been watching anything I could get my hands on from Joy Division since 1983 and listening to all the odd releases my record shop in New Mexico could find. To see Peter Hook in this way is an emotional moment for me. Regardless of performance, to have a member of the original band on stage playing original songs may not be "pure" but it still has the ability to move me in ways their music only could. I am grateful to be in an age where I can bring this up in seconds on my PC and watch with excellent sound and video quality

Compared to the " let's change the key of the original so Bernard can sing it but by by doing this, completely ruining the feel of the song" by far the better version. Don't get me wrong, you can do with your own songs whatever you want, but in this particular case, Peter Hook understands, better than the New Order cover version, where the emotion from this song comes from.
@PYDPIPER4 жыл бұрын
Ian had an unique voice tone that you can actually feel in this tune, Bernard was nowhere near Ian's style, but it was what the band went with, his tone was too soft overall i think compared to the gritiness of Ians.

Matthias Dillen presumably you've endured the atrocity that was Monaco or Revenge? Hook couldn't last a minute without Sumner or Curtis writing the songs hence in later years he has played it safe by being a fat tribute act to his former bands.

Had the distinct pleasure of seeing hooky in Dallas may22, 2018 and it was a fantastic show, started off by playing all of New Orders Substance album, then they took a break of about 10 minutes then proceeded to play all of Joy Divisions substance album. After the show we loitered outside us and about 60 other fans and he took the time to sign anything and take as many pics as we wanted and just hung out and didn't act the least bit of a star but instead as a humble man who understands his lucky and talented stars and that without us fans he wouldn't be able to do what he loves. And for that I will always love and admire Peter Hook, he connects with every day people on multiple levels

I really like this cover, odd to see people criticizing Peters vocals in the comments, I thought his vocals were spot on and captured the feeling of the song, wtf do you want.. Bono murdering it again? When you're young and this song means the world to you and you are playing it in your bedroom singing along as loud as you can get away with, or when you're parents were out so you could play it as loud as the stereo would go, you would imagine yourself doing a Ian Curits impression singing this live. I feel this is what Peters doing here, but instead of pretending to be live and just singing along in the bedroom, he's actually doing it live. Good work Hooky.
