about the new shading technique you can also use more saturated colors around the edges of the shadows. this is caused by something called “subsurface-scattering” it normally occurs on skin, candles and most somewhat translucent objects. the cool color in the deepest part of the shadow is caused by the bouncing cool sky light or depending on the lighting situation it could be the opposite if the shadows are warm which would be caused by the bouncing warm sun light therefore the highlights would be cool

I totally imagine a villager who would be like that in the game and she would be wandering a lot in forest to draw trees and small animals :0 Your animal crossing persona is really cute too ! And the sonic one is quite different from the others but it's still really pretty Edit: the "messy" lineart is really cool !
