After 4 miscarriages i was able to carry my son(my miracle full term) I can relate to your story so much. Yes i shed tears when i watched your story. So happy for you and your family. Very happy for you. May I please offer this; Some women are able to conceive and carry a child without difficulty. Others like you have a difficult journey to motherhood. However, all of the beautiful children born are miracles. No one child is more special than any other because of the path that their parents took to become parents. Fun fact! I planned my own baby shower, guest list, food, theme, colours for my baby boy and looking back I wouldn’t have done it any differently! I had a advice book where experienced mothers could leave messages of encouragement or tips when raising a baby, best idea ever 🎉. Ever is so gorgeous! Motherhood looks so good on you! What a blessing! Yalls story just warms my heart! As far as what I did for a baby shower…I had a post birth baby shower after my son was born because I had a rough pregnancy. We called this baby shower a sip and see and it was jungle themed. We did have an activity in where everyone went around the room and said who they were to my baby and words of encouragement. Next time around I want do something intimate like you. Maybe including some worship. ❤

I totally get everything that Adrienne said. But I must say, I thank God for His Gift of natural wisdom, grace and MOTHERHOOD. None of the THINGS are that important. We live in a society that is so materialistic and pepple are attention starved. And people wonder why they are not given BLESSINGS up-front and naturally. Didn't have a prayer tree but we set up a table for everyone to decorate a onsie with a quote... so everytime we changed our baby we had a word to pray over him. Knowing it came from our loved ones really helped us stay present and intentional throughout his first year of life!

When I was pregnant with my daughter Brooke (she’s now 29) my friends threw me a baby shower and I had no involvement. The theme was “Black” Raggedy Ann and one of my friends mom made giant dolls all over her house and chocolate brown was the color theme. Fast forward when my daughter got pregnant with my grandson Bryson (he’s now 3). I organized and planner the baby shower with all variations of blue and the theme was “A Little Pumpkin Is On The Way”. With blue hand painted pumpkins BY ME where everywhere. 🙂 I rented a venue and it was close friends and family. And everyone in tue family had a job, an uncle who’s a DJ did his thing, her god mother sang a special dedication song, her dad and his wife did the food. And we had the best time!!! And yes, I still have some of those pumpkins! 😂 The faux ones that is.

It is is funny because I was literally waiting for you to announce Ever. I KNEW you were keeping the secret that you were using a surrogate! Especially when you said that you WILL be a mother and you mentioned that you had all those rounds of failed IVF on the Real. So I said, "She is gonna use a surrogate. Now it's the waiting game!" I think actually doing something simple and intimate IS the greatest thing you are doing FOR your boy. I think the big parties are for the guests, the intimate and small celebrations are actually for the person who’s being celebrated, especially if that person is 1 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Can’t believe it’s been a year. Definitely go with the small celebration. I went all out for my sons 1st birthday and he doesn’t even remember it 😂 I did Baby Sesame Street theme, rented a bounce house, popcorn machine and cotton candy machine. Too much 😂 My family and friends had a blast but something small would’ve sufficed. Big parties are great once they turn around 4/5 because they can then really enjoy it and know what’s going on and they’ll remember. Happy Birthday Ever ❤

Follow your heart. I threw my little girl on her 1st birthday a big party with paid decorations, bounce house, petting zoo, snacks for the little ones, food for the adults, dessert cart, etc. and it was the most stressful and expensive part I have ever thrown! She is turning 2 in August 9, and we are heading to Disney! What I spent on her 1st I rather spend it on a vacation as a family. So no, you aren’t wrong or crazy in wanting to do something small.
