Who would have thought five tiny women from Japan would be saving heavy metal by keeping the traditional sound going forward. Loving this band sooooo much. I can't get enough of them. Long live heavy metal, and long live Lovebites.

Despite Chad’s first sentence sounds kinda so patronising and condescending, I agree with the rest. I had been away from metal for about 15 years and always sticking mostly to bands up to the 1990s (except for some few exceptions) But suddenly I heard Lovebites in 2021 and my love for the genre got renewed 🤘

Re. Break the Wall: There are a lot of bands with great guitarists. There have been few with the luxury of two great guitarists. I go all the way back to Allman/Betts and Allman/Clapton, and I’ve never heard another song with two solos that were so great yet so different. This captures perfectly the contrasting styles and personalities of the two guitarists-Midori the extrovert and shredding demon, Miyako the introvert and goddess of blues (who can also shred when she feels like it). Really nothing like them, ever.
@ChadTheDragonLord2 жыл бұрын
Midori!!!! That look she gave us at 5:23 - OMG!!! She is my all time favorite guitar player. She is the total package - talent, charisma, look, hair, sex appeal and talent. And that isn't knocking Miyako at all because she is just as talented, if not more, especially considering she shreds the piano too. There isn't a better pair of metal guitarists playing right now in my opinion. Those solos on Break the Wall were phenomenal. And your ears can't tell if it is Midori & Miyako playing or if it was Tipton & Downing. They sound exactly the same.

Break the Wall really shows what a frickin shredder Midori is and how beautifully Miyako makes her guitar sing with emotion! Love it! Painkiller, OMG Haruna!! What a freaking amazing reaction, and guess what it only gets better and you fall deeper in the rabbit hole. Your facial expressions says it all you are definitely enjoy your journey, and yes I am coming back to do it all over again. Did you get a chance to listen to three songs I send links to of old Judas Priest, within those songs you can hear where a lot of the bands of the '80s got their influence from. It's just like a domino affect one is linked to the other even if it is one riff they borrowed to create a song, and Lovebites is the epitome of it all right now
@ricdale78132 жыл бұрын
I've been hacking up PainKiller in bands since 1990. Let me tell you these girls Absolutely Kill this song. Asami doesn't try to copy Halford and her voice works Great on it. Next try their Helloween cover of Eagle Fly Free.

Great reaction. I saw your first Lovebites reaction too. I love watching someone else appreciate and enjoy this band as much as I do. The best bit…. You had to fast forward to Asami’s voice in Painkiller to make sure. It’s one of the few covers that can be classed as good as the original, in every respect. No special take here or ducking out there. A full on total copy, note perfect.

My first thought when I heard the main riff of "Break the Wall" was: Testament - "Over the Wall"! Therefore, when you did the short side by side comparison of Lovebites and Testament and even picked that song, I had already wondered if you would say the same, but this couldn't be possible, because you hadn't heard "Break the Wall" then. It's somewhat funny that you stopped Testament's "Over the Wall" in that comparison-clip nearly right before the exact point, where the riff I'm refering to set in, namely 34 seconds into this clip: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqLPeauMbrWpmcU The live version of "Break the Wall" you reacted to sounds IMO as raw and heavy as Testament did in 1987, but the production is better and Lovebites have two world class guitarists. For me, Thrash Metal doesn't get better than this!
@jprules25782 жыл бұрын
I thought of Testament the first time I heard them, and it was Set the World on Fire. I hear more Testament than Slayer from Lovebites...maybe that's just me.
@MissLoonasSpeech2 жыл бұрын
@@jprules2578 It's definitely not just you! I could imagine that the reason why the number of people comparing them to Slayer - or often also to Metallica - is the fact that these bands simply are more popular, thus even people who otherwise don't listen to a lot of Thrash Metal have at least heard songs by these two bands, so that's what comes to their mind when they think of Thrash Metal. While I couldn't say that "Set the World on Fire" had me thinking of any specific band, I'd definitely rather go with Testament than with Slayer, if I was asked to choose between those two.

Fortunately I bought the made to order "In The Beginning" box. Only way to get the Painkiller song. I suppose it will become plenty sought after. So fun to hear Asami here...a voice I never heard her sound like before. And I really hope this will be performed live...but maybe just a hope. Also check their cover of Helloweens Eagle Fly Free. I am amused to watch your background. The MAXX comics looked awesome. Is it a Frazetta painting? SHI I only have some tradings card from. What is the figure on the shelf? Lara look from far. Two Testament CDs. And last and most important...is the duck for bath tub?

I think it's clear that LOVEBITES is the evolution of all their musical influences (and they have many). The talent is obvious, and there are plenty of bands brimming with talent. But what sets them apart, for me, is the amazing synergy of that talent that raises them above everyone else.
