Damn, those women know how to play, and they deserve to be huge! Japan is producing some fantastic female rock bands, with BAND-MAID being my personal favourite. Their song “Thrill” kicks all kinds of a$$ and has a cool music video. BABYMETAL is another Japanese act which has achieved some success internationally, and they mix the cutesy aesthetic of Japanese Idol culture with pure guttural metal riffing, producing what they have termed “kawaii metal”. (The music video to their song “Doki Doki Morning” is bonkers!) All these women prove that hard rock and metal is not just for the boys (if Suzi Quatro, Joan Jett, Lita Ford, and Girlschool hadn’t done so already.) I am really enjoying your well thought out analyses of the songs you are reacting to. As I have said previously, you would make a fine rock critic. Rock on Elok!🤘🏻

We all love good raw talent and the classics and some new bands are carrying the torch for us. Thank you for your awesome reaction and your encouraging words. If you love Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer along with so many of the classic rock bands of the '70s and '80s then Lovebites is the band to listen to nowadays. Between the bands like Lovebites and The Warning, Motion device, Liliac, and Greta Van Fleet, which I call the saviors of rock and roll have brought back to life the old classic sound we all enjoy so much.

A wonderful and honest reaction.... I just learned of LOVEBITES back in January and immediately became a die-hard fan. "Pure classic metal," I love your analysis there...I totally agree...when I first heard them (and even now) I am taken back to my younger days listening to the "classics" of the late 70's and 80's but the band and their music doesn't sound dated, instead, they provide a very (and much needed) fresh breath to today's metal music world. Thank-you for your reaction and thank-you to a fellow wolf-pack (I love that name ) member who recommended this.

@@Zarthaz1 that she’s reacted to the ladies so positively so soon is good. I particularly agree with her interpretation of the lockdown and it’s affect on the band’s progress. On the other hand, the growth of reaction videos in lockdown and our ability to spread the word is itself helping. The viewership of Glory to the World is nearly half a million, half of that of Destinies. Proof of a growing reputation I believe. Elok Hsu and others actually help the band, which is great to see.

Congratulations on discovering Lovebites! You could have asked a bunch of comic-book artists to design a band of alien superheroes, disguised as beautiful women who use music to battle darkness, and they could not have come up with this. Other reviewers have described them as angels sent to save us, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They have themselves said in interviews that part of their mission is to save heavy metal from darkness and obscurity. Some background (you already know some of this but I'll post the full intro): They were formed from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief metalhead and soul of the band) recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" pocket nuke), and they went and found the two guitarists, Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands, and the whole group found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time. Miho and Miyako compose most of their music, but Midori has also been getting into the act, and Asami writes a lot of the lyrics. They have only been around for a little over 4 years. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Slayer etc. and they pretty much aced it all. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and it seems clear they’re taking it to another level. This is one of their most common "starter" songs for reactors, and rightly so--you get a good sense of the band. They do everything from soulful power ballads to white-hot insane thrash, and almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two shredders are very different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel. Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The interplay makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. (As another reactor said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band.") Miyako is also a concert-level classical pianist-she only picked up guitar when she was 18. You'll get lots of suggestions, just one thing: don't bother with Bloodstock footage, the quality is poor. Best to take suggestions with actual links. I was wondering when the Japanese were going to make an appearance. There are some really amazing bands coming from there now. However between the classic rock bands you have been doing and this contemporary music, don't forget the bands in between such as Motorhead, Iron Maiden etc... Also try Band Maid and Wagakki Band if you want something very different

I don’t get the appeal of the constant sixteenth notes on the bass drum In metal - it’s just annoying to me and an instant headache - literally, I can’t listen without getting a headache 🤕. I can only get through about a minute and a half before I have to stop 🛑 . She has a good voice and the guitarists and bassist are top notch. Definitely a bit of a Celine Dion type voice singing over a metal riff. Needs more variety, some time changes, a bridge - maybe there’s a slower section at some point? Who should be punished for starting this constant bass drum nonsense - Lars Ulrich? Yuck 🤢 Enjoy 😊 just not for me 🤷🏻‍♂️

Did you pass all those judgements based on part of one LOVEBITES song? For your own health (headaches) I'd see a doctor. The bass drum is NOT even LOUD in the mix. This is written with serious concern for the health (headache) indicated in your comment. "Yuck"?? Why bother commenting such a thing? "Needs more variety, some time changes, a bridge - maybe there’s a slower section at some point?" leads me to think you didn't listen long enough to find out about those qualities that this song does have. Got a headache, stopped listening but felt you needed to find fault in spite of the song having qualities you were looking for? I rarely reply to comments like yours, but it makes no sense to not listen, then indicate you were looking for exactly what the song offers. I won't suggest any LOVEBITES songs because, based on your comment, you will stop listening, yet still find fault.
