What a shame this song is reacted to so little. One of the best guitar solos EVER! As to Miyoko's stone face. the ironic thing is she is maybe the most active on social media in the group and she has a wonderful smile and comes off as very nice and not cold at all. She has a lot of vids of her just talking about things to the fans on youtube.

Not only, that Miyako is always totally absorbed in her music, she's a prime example, what a deep classical education does for a musician. If you really wanna have full control over your instruments, you also must have full control over your body. It' most obvious, when she plays the piano, starting out in an absolut composed position and ending the same way. Normally you don't see a pianist or a violinist go crazy during a song, not because they are bores, but because they don't wanna let anything distract from striving for the perfect performance.

For me, it is the grace and charm that Midori and Miyako bring with their playing. Having grown up watching many male metal/rock solo guitarists perform absurd posturing, 'look at me play four chords instead of three, so worship me as a god', ridiculous orgasm face, because the use a bend, on one string and generally what Midori and Miyako play in one song, requires grater skill than the entire set from said former metal/rock male band, it is not any wonder, I 'fan boy' about them.

I told you that you would love it. How could anyone not? As brilliant as all the solo's are, the rolling bass & drum patterns are what cements them all together for me. And the voice of the little Stage General, Asami, always blows my mind. As for the stoic visage of Miyako, that is from her classical piano training since the age of three. And I love it. But it is also well known, that while she is shredding on the guitar, she is usually composing another song in her head, and sometimes also a shopping list for groceries to pick up on the way home for dinner. Hence the look of concentration. Ha!Ha! As others have mentioned, off stage she is one of the most endearing women on the planet. Grace, poise, and elegance at all times. All the attributes of a Goddess.

I will forever argue with anyone who tells me that Miyako & Midori are not the greatest dual leads ever. And in this case, I use the word greatest and not just favorite for a reason. I honestly feel they are simply technically and from a musicianship level better than any dual leads before them. Priest, Maiden, Unleash the Archers, etc etc. Bring it, I will will pick M&M every single time. I love Miako, period. I love them all, but for me she stand taller than every musician I have even encountered, because she checks off every single box for me, and more.

Alle these ladies are top musicians on an international level, and at least 3 of them are music prodigies in my opinion (Haruna, Miyako, Fami). If any song encapsulates LOVEBITES dedication to out and out guitar metal it’s this. Most bands would only do something like this as a showpiece at the end, and generally as an extended version of the original. But this is a pretty faithful representation of the studio version on Awakening From Abyss (though the first LOVEBITES version on the LOVEBITES EP is shorter). So basically they wrote a song that is a guitarist fest…not many bands even back in the day would have done that.

@pohojisan1287 Жыл бұрын
As for Miyako's stone face (LOL), one major reason could be that she has been trained as a serious classical musician, so much so that she graduated from the piano department of a music college. I worked mainly in the classical music industry in Japan, and in the classical and ballet fields, making exaggerated facial expressions when performing is highly frowned upon. Therefore, I would feel uncomfortable at a classical concert if there was someone who made facial expressions as intense as Midori's. One more thing. Her hometown of Osaka has a well-developed comedy culture, and is often referred to as the "kingdom of comedy" in Japan. Miyako may be a bit shy, but she actually has a cheerful personality and likes to tell jokes. There are many kinds of Osaka people who are good at telling jokes with a serious face. She is the epitome of this, with her ability to put on a normal face and say something funny. ※ Midori is also from Osaka, but she is the cheerful and jovial type, another typical Osakaite. Originally, she seems to have a very nervous disposition, and forcing a smile on her face tends to make her look stiff and unnatural. There was a time when she was all stone-faced on stage, but recently she often puts on a natural smile on stage, cheerfully communicates with other members of the group, and sometimes lightly agitates the audience.
@OtobokeGaijin6218 Жыл бұрын
I have seen Miyako perform live in bands previous to Lovebites, and can say that she was not always stone-faced when playing in those previous bands, whether 21g or A Drop of Joker. I doubt her expression on stage has any connection to her classical piano training. In classical music many performers make exaggerated facial expressions and body movements when playing, to convey the mood of the music or their own intense feeling.
@pohojisan1287 Жыл бұрын
@@OtobokeGaijin6218 Regarding your comment, I will copy and paste here an article I have written elsewhere in the past. However, this is not what I wrote about Miyako recently, but mainly speculation about her around 2020-21. Lately she has been showing us the bright character in her, especially since she became a mother.(Sorry for the long post). Regarding classical concerts, are you referring to Japanese musicians? In my experience, there are indeed some non-Japanese performers who express their emotions, but I think they are in the minority. And when it comes to Japanese performers, the number is even more limited. The difference is mainly due to the teachers they had in their childhood (In the case of classical music, teachers raised in the former Soviet and German lineages tend to instruct their students not to over-express facial expressions as facial expressions or body exaggerations). However, even among those who do express their emotions, I think that the over-exaggerated facial expressions and body movements that are common among Western rock and metal musicians are almost non-existent in the classical field. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In their early days, Miyako was a bit more expressive on stage than she is now, and the same was true of her expressions in "21g" era. However, I don't know if it was a habit of classical music performance, a mental condition such as nervousness, or just shyness, but her face was often stiff and her smile was awkward. In this respect, she was far removed from Midori. In Japan, character making is often very important, and not just in pop music. In that sense, Miyako's character was very half-hearted and not very memorable. I worked primarily in the classical music field, so I can't say for sure, but the following is my professional gut feeling. I don't know if it was discussed within the band, the producer's or office's idea, or the production side, but I have a feeling that the intention was to set Miyako's character in that kind of stone face. She also might have been easier to work with that character. Maybe she didn't want to force a fake smile, force a bark, or force the audience to be agitated. At about the same time, Miyako changed her position on stage. Initially, she was positioned on the left side facing the stage, while Midori was on the right. Of course, the main reason for this change must be that this position is more suitable for playing keyboards, especially the grand piano. However, I have been secretly wondering if this change of fixed position is actually connected to Miyako's change of character. At the entrances and gates of Japanese temples, there are a pair of 仁王Nioh (金剛力士Kongorikishi) statues standing on the left and right. They are called "阿形A-gyo" and "吽形Un-gyo" statues. The A-gyo has its mouth open, revealing an angry expression, while the Un-gyuo has an expression of anger hidden inside. The statues are usually bare-breasted, muscular, and represent a guardian deity who prevents the entrance of Buddhist enemies into the temple. At the same time, 阿A and 吽-Un represent the beginning of the universe and the completion of the universe, respectively. Therefore, when the word "阿吽A-Un" is used in one sentence, it means a symbol of "the root of all things" and "the wisdom and virtue to which all things are attributed". In Japan, there is an idiom called "阿吽の呼吸A-Un breathing." It refers to the subtle timing and feelings of two or more people doing one thing, and how they perfectly coincide with each other. "阿A" refers to the voice (sound) uttered with the mouth open, and "吽Un" refers to the voice (sound) uttered with the mouth closed. From there, it came to mean "exhalation" and "inhalation," and when two people breathe together, it is called "阿吽の呼吸A-Un breathing". The phrase "阿吽の呼吸A-Un breathing" is an idiomatic expression, meaning that two or more people are in perfect synch when doing things together. Based on the above, returning to the A-Un statues, the most famous 仁王Nioh statue in Japan is the A-Un statue at the 南大門Nandai-mon gate of 東大寺Todai-ji Temple in Nara Prefecture. These huge wooden statues, just under 8.4 meters tall, was built in the early Kamakura period (1203) in Japan and is considered one of the greatest masterpieces of Japanese sculpture art. This Nioh statues at Todai-ji Temple are placed with the 阿形A-gyo statues on the left side facing the temple, and the 吽形Un-gyo statues on the right side facing the temple (Normally, the 阿形A-gyo statues are on the right and the 吽形Un-gyo statues on the left, but for some reason, the two are reversed at Todai-ji Temple). In my opinion, the Lovevites, in switching the positions of Miyako and Midori, may have reassigned the characters to follow the statues of 仁王Nioh at Todai-ji Temple. My hypothesis is that the two guitarists were re-set as the 阿吽A-Un character as a symbol of their perfect match and the integration of the whole universe (= music). As you all know, off-stage Miyako is a very ordinary young lady. She is certainly not a very sociable person, but she jokes a lot and laughs a lot. She is a guitar geek and can't stop talking when the subject of guitars comes up. I was born in Osaka, just as Miyako and Midori, so I know a lot about Osaka women. Many of them are cheerful and bright like Midori. However, on the other hand, there are also many women who seem to be awkward and difficult to approach, but whose specialty is to surprise people by showing a totally different character from their image, such as telling funny jokes (in a few words, abruptly), or being a good receiver of other people's jokes. I consider Miyako to be a well-to-do, well-brought-up young lady, and a typical type of the latter (Osaka is so culturally heavy on comedy and jokes that it is known as the "Comedy Kingdom"), Therefore, when I see people who look at Miyako's attitude on stage with a critical eye, I always say to them in my heart, "That is a character she is making on purpose, she is just playing a role," but since there is no concrete basis for my objection, I usually just sit back and let it slide.

@@pohojisan1287 Thanks for the response. I'm not Japanese, but I was raised in Japan, have a master's degree in Japanese literature, and work in the music industry in Japan. I have met Miyako and Midori as early as 2015, and saw Miyako perform with 21g and A Drop of Joker-one of those occasions was a gig ADOJ did with Midori's band Gekijo Metalicche. I'm aware of the meaning of 阿形 and 吽形 (derived from the Sanskrit "om/aum") as well as the guardian statues at temples. Yes, I'm familiar with Osaka culture, I lived there and in Kyoto for several years. I'm certainly not convinced that 阿形吽形 has any relationship to Miyako and Midori, but it's interesting anyway. I don't know what you mean by "Miyako's change of character". Are you a psychologist? Do you know Miyako personally? I have seen Japanese pianists, violinists, and other instrumetalists perform with great emotion. There was one fellow (I don't remember his name) some years ago at the Chopin Competition in Warsaw who was very expressive of his emotions (I saw it on NHK). But I will simply reiterate that I don't agree with the notion that Miyako's "stone-faced" demeanor is connected to her classical music training.
@pohojisan1287 Жыл бұрын
@@OtobokeGaijin6218Well...as I said in my previous sentence, I am not saying this with any assurance. I am someone who has studied psychology (clinical and developmental psychology) for about 30 years, although I have not earned a degree. I know more about this field than most people, however, psychology is essentially only analytical, not a way to make statements about someone's personality. That's what I'm speculating based on her interviews, YT videos, and many other personal observations. When I said change in character, I meant change in Japanese "キャラ" on stage. I am not a native English speaker, so perhaps I may have used the word "キャラ" as it is used in Japan, which may have been difficult to understand, because I substituted the word "キャラ" directly into English "character". If so, I apologize. Her on-stage "キャラ" has changed quite a bit between when she officially joined Lovebites and around 2020~2021. Asami has undergone various "キャラ" transitions as well. If you grew up in Japan and work in the music industry, you are well aware that when marketing a musician or a band, it is imperative to create a unique image by creating "キャラ" for the individual members and the band as a whole. I'm sure you can easily see the transition from the early Lovebites, →20-21 years, →and the current stage performances. Of course, whatever you personally feel about it, I will not deny or refute it in any way. I am simply stating my personal speculations and thoughts. There are many different types of musicians in the classical world. Although not pianists, Herbert von Karajan and Leonard Bernstein, for example, have opposite ways of expressing themselves on stage. Conductors are basically focused on conveying their emotions and thoughy of music to the orchestra, not to the audience, but even so, the two great conductors mentioned above are completely different. Taking pianists as examples, Germany's Wilhelm Backhaus/the former Soviet Union's Sviatoslav Richter, and China's Lang Lang are also completely different. The former is the type that does not show his emotions, while the latter expresses his emotions as they are. Historically, Japanese classical music was first heavily influenced by German musical influences. People like me, who are over 60 years old, have been familiar with German music, interpretation, and staging of musicians since childhood, and many of the music teachers were also trained in the German line of thinking. Roughly speaking, the type of old musician who is not very expressive on stage is mostly found in Germany and the former Soviet Union, while there are various types of performers in each of the other regions. The United States encourages people to express themselves freely on stage, yet it takes time for those who grew up there to grow up, teach their children, and for those children to become adults. I think it will take a little longer for the majority of people in Japan to become expressive performers. One last thing, if I had said that all classical performers do not expressively express themselves, your rebuttal would suffice, but I don't think your example is a rebuttal to the discussion of which is the mainstream. Please understand that I am not talking about "0 or 100".
@OtobokeGaijin6218 Жыл бұрын
@@pohojisan1287 Certainly the principles of clinical psychology can be applied to make assessments of personality, but キャラ is something entirely different! Surely you know that "character" and キャラ are not synonymous. I'm sorry, but your argument is not rigorous or convincing. Personally I associate キャラ more with comedy. You seemed to suggest that Miyako's "stone-faced" demeanor was a result of her classical music training. You were making the generalization, not I. Each individual is different and unique. Not all classically trained musicians-including Japanese-are stone-faced or expressionless on stage. Miyako's allegedly stone-faced demeanor is not necessarily the product of her classical training. But as I said, I have seen her perform live a number of times, and she is not always "stone-faced", and thus I think the original proposition-that Miyako is stone-faced on stage-is a mistaken generalization.
