Lovebites has improved their stage presence tremendously. Ever since Fami joined they are having fun on stage again. This is absolutely my most favorite Lovebites song. You can see why.
@SomethingToDo3602 ай бұрын
“Ever since Fami joined” I agree with this. Although the channel suggested “musicians feed off of the crowd” seemingly as an explanation for why the band appears happier now, they’ve been this way since Fami joined them. Her happiness being contagious, as a far more likely explanation than the crowd.
@rainerzufall422 ай бұрын
Agree on improved stage performance, but "feeding off of the crowd" was a LOVEBITES thing long before Fami joined. Fami gave LOVEBITES back, what they already had, just watch some earlier recordings! Glad, that Fami revived the fun!
@SomethingToDo3602 ай бұрын
@@rainerzufall42 “Fami gave Lovebites back, what they already had” Some people get uncomfortable when reading a comment saying things have improved in some way. Apparently, the reactors themselves are noticing a change in happiness too. Now given all the newer live performances we have seen so far, I would have thought it impossible to think Fami didn’t add anything EXTRA to the overall happiness level, for even if her happiness is not itself contagious, her own overly-happy personality is itself something different than the typical IMO (hence something extra).
@rainerzufall422 ай бұрын
@@SomethingToDo360 That's a long text to convinve me of a thing, that I already wrote: "They have improved a lot (technically)". But my thesis still stands: They soaked energy from their audience and gave it back to them even before "Judgement Day", just watch some recordings or interviews of that time! They've explicitly said that! After Covid-19 and some disrupted plans, they had to find some fun back, and first the search for Fami and then the integration of Fami, now the development of Fami, was the best that could happen!
@SomethingToDo3602 ай бұрын
@@rainerzufall42 “They soaked energy from the audience” I’m saying that in itself, doesn’t explain their newfound happiness. I’m also saying Fami’s extra-happy personality would itself be something extra; that she adds some degree to their overall happiness as a group, be it contagious or not. I think this opinion is entirely reasonable.

This has gradually become one of my favorite songs by them. One thing I would like to give them a lot of credit for. Since they have been touring recently, I have noticed that only in Japan do they play in large venues. Understandable. But it must be so hard going from a venue like this one in this video then playing in a place thats not much bigger than your local bar. Then bringing the same fun and enthusiasm and professionalism to the performance. I can't even imagine how tough this would be.

The great talent that these ladies have is from another world. Asami has my respect, she is a great singer with a powerful and melodic operatic voice. The two guitarists, Midori and Miyako, are truly impressive with solos that remain imprinted in the memory. Haruna has a stamina on the drums that is not common these days, Fami is the bassist that lovebites needed, I hope he contributes more to the songs that are to come in the future. In person, someone is always interacting with the crowd, and Asami typically is as well. Just not seeing everything that’s going on when the camera for videos is typically focusing on who is playing a key thing in the moment. Fami though certainly brings a renewed energy and her presence has lifted them a bit, when you perhaps thought it was impossible that they could get any better. I do miss Miho, her writing and voice, headbanging, some darker presence, but Fami is such a great fit that she naturally belongs, and it’s hard now to imagine her not being there.

Asami is doing a recital of Christmas songs in mid December in Shibuya. Available for streaming.

Don’t know what the setlist will be for the 2024 show, but in the past Christmas specials Asami has done, most of the songs have not been Christmas-themed. I was in the audience for one of the shows and of the over 20 songs she did the only “Christmas songs” I recall are “Silent Night” and Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas is you”.

Of course it’s Tokyo. Outside of Japan, LOVEBITES still play in bars and basements. I was standing just 15 feet away from MIYAKO for 90 minutes in San Francisco. And it’s almost impossible to see HARUNA playing on the stage with no drum riser.

LB brilliant as always but notice how even Haruna and Fami actually get some shine time (that is one thing we all notice).

Have you guys done KOIAI- A New Picture? Lisa X, Hazuki of Nemo and Kanade Saneda. Bassist is from Marty Freedman band. Another excellent choice would be Hagane - Five Swords under Heaven, imo. 😊😊😊

Junna - now the drummer of Hagane - is a burning fireball on the drums. Her energy and technical perfection reminds me a lot of Haruna and her enthusiasm of Jukka, the former drummer of Nightwish.
