Lovebites were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing. In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They went on hiatus while they searched for a new bassist, and during that time, two of them had babies, even as the band were writing and rehearsing their new album. They recently announced the new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. Their first song with Fami is “Judgement Day” kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2TYeJ2mYrVqeqs The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." Welcome to LOVEBITES 🤘🏼🐺🔥 Here some information about them: The band was formed in 2016 by original bassist Miho and drummer Haruna. Their first EP and album came out in 2017. So far LOVEBITES have released 4 albums, some Singles/EPs and also a bunch of DVD/Blu-ray live recordings. Back in 2018/2019 LOVEBITES have already toured in Europe, including appearances at the major metal festivals as Wacken, Download, Bloodstock, Graspop. In 2018 they also won the Metal Hammer UK Golden Gods Award for best new band. Then came covid, their original bass player and founder Miho quit the band for personal reasons and two babies were born. After a break LOVEBITES came back with new bassist Fami and new song „Judgement Day“ in late 2022. A new album with the same title came out in February 2023. LOVEBITES are currently touring in Europe and later this year in the US. I was at their concert last week, first row directly in front of the black haired guitarist Miyako, my favorite musician ever. The band members of LOVEBITES are (including their official nicknames) Asami on vocals (the one and only voice): She has an amazing vocal range and vibrato, writes most of the lyrics, also did parts of the song writing for their latest 2 albums, she is a former ballerina and RnB/soul singer Miyako on guitars, piano, keyboards (the golden touch): She is the musical brain of the band, main composer and arranger, a soulful but also shreddy guitar player and concert level pianist, furthermore she is a gear nerd Midori on guitars (crazy shredder): Incredibly fast and technical guitar player, has contributed to songwriting for a few of their songs, also she is a body fitness athlete Haruna on drums (little big engine): Plays very fast pace over long distances, she is very efficient and her stamina is admirable, the cymbal work is outstanding, she also wrote one of their songs including lyrics, creates handmade miniature fake food Fami on bass since 2022 (shining fingers): Absolute bass prodigy with outstanding technique, she speaks faster than sonic speed as she plays and smiles non-stop Miho on bass until 2021 (natural born headbanger): We will never forget her, she is a great bass player, she wrote several of the songs for the band’s albums 1-3

Welcome to Lovebites, the Wolfpack, Lovebites fans around the world will be along to give you information and recommendations. A little more about the members, Asami, Vocals and Piano. She was a R&B singer before Lovebites and is a trained Ballet Dancer. Writes most of the lyrics and sings in English, not an easy thing for a native Japanese speaker. Midori, ESP Guitars. The blond 'Amazon Warrior' who is a body builder who has scored high in contests in Japan. Miyako, Dean and Gibson Guitars, Piano and Keyboards. The dark haired 'serious' one. A classically trained pianist, she writes much of the bands music, often incorporating classical themes into her compositions. Both play lead, swapping back and forth as required and playing hormonised solos that are a wonder to behold. Fami, Bass Guitar. The baby of the band, being 20 when she joined the band in 2022 as the replacement for original bassist Miho who left the band in 2021 for personal reasons. Haruna, Drums, known as the 'Little BIG Engine' , due to her being the smallest member, 1.45 meters tall coupled with her relentless speed and power over concerts up to 2 hours long. (although none of the ladies are tall, Miyako and Fami being tallest at around 1.6 meters) Haruna and Miho are the founder members having been together in a band called Destrose which broke up in 2015, Lovebites being formed the following year. The inspiration for the bands style are the British and European Metal bands of the 70's and 80's such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Metallica. Miho in particular is a big fan of Steve Harris, bassist with Maiden, and Miyako lists Richie Blackmore and Gary Moore amongst her favourite guitarists. Lovebites are the first all female Japanese band to play at the Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany, toured the UK with Dragon Force in 2019 and opened for Arch Enemy in China the same year. To give you more background on the Metal Queens. I feel this song was written for the reason that because Lovebites were on hiatus because of both COVID and losing their bassist and co-founder Miho, they wanted to show the world they were back saying they had to "Stand and Deliver" and they proved it with this song. I think they started with the bass solo to introduce the world to their new bassist Fami, which they held exhaustive auditions for. I don't know if you noticed them exchanging instruments in the video. With “Judgement Day” being the first release with Fami on bass, both of their music videos from the album have started with prominent bass. This video was a breath of fresh air in that a lot of the band’s previous work was serious and very straight-faced. This gave them an aspect of fun and personality that we’d only previously received in very small bites. Fami is a great performer and one of the smiliest musicians I’m aware of. Her and Iree from Rolling Quartz could have a smile-off that would never end.

this song is not power metal but classic metal similar to Motorhead style, the idiots who wrote the google page didn't what he was writing when he put power metal, this bogus name only came about when many of the new fans of Lovebites began using it all at once. Thank you for reacting to my all time favourite band, and one of the most musically talented metal bands on the planet. Miyako and Midori are possibly the best metal guitar duo around today. The bass introduction is considered (at least by the fans) as a nod to Lemmy Kilmister (RIP) from Motörhead. I like how you have the lyrics on the screen, especially considering that Asami can be difficult to understand. Unfortunately, most of their official videos don't have CC lyrics. However, if you want to spend some time looking for them, there are fan KZbin pages that have these music videos with lyrics.

You'll quickly learn there's no such thing as a rhythm guitarist in Lovebites. 🤣Both are leads and the best modern day duo period, imho. Wait till you see them live, any song, it just doesn't matter. They're currently doing their world tour and killing it and making stops in Atlanta, Dallas, LA, and SF in early September. Someone really needs to correct that Wikipedia entry, because LOVEBITES is not a power metal band, they are a heavy metal band that plays several different genres, one of which is power metal, but also thrash, NWOBHM-style classic metal, prog metal, symphonic/neo-classical metal and even pop metal. This song is a great example of one of their songs that is NOT power metal. It is one of their NWOBHM-styled songs in the tradition of Motorhead.

Japanese metal is on an incredible roll, especially the women, who are kicking ass on an epic scale. Another great band you should check out, if you haven’t already, is Bridear. Founded in 2011, they were in the second wave of all-female heavy-metal bands. They have the classic twin-lead attack and technical rhythm section. They have gone through some changes but have always kept their hard, heavy, technical sound. Their tiny bassist even does death growls! They just released their new album on June 28 (Japan time), and it’s a banger. The Metal Hammer review compares them to Lovebites. BURRN is calling it a masterpiece.
