I'll be 63 in a couple of weeks. My metal journey started in 1971 when I heard Zeppelin. The musicianship in Lovebites, with five virtuoso's, is beyond words. I've never heard such perfection that spreads across so many sub genres and are experts at all of them.

I've seen the full bassist documentary and it is great. You get more details about Fami's background in metal and get to see all of her 3rd screening audition songs with the full band.

What you call A+ level is what I've been calling Jedi-level. They really seem to have come from another galaxy--they make what they do look so easy and fun. And the Force seems to be strong in their young bassist Fami. No limits for this band!

Awesome reaction, definitely hear some Motorhead, maybe some 90s Metallica?? F awesome regardless. You should react to Dissonance from the new album, it's audio vid only but it's F insane. The speed of Haruna's drumming and multiple guitar riff changes, at that pace is absolutely insane. I can't wait to see a live video of them doing it during their March shows. As far as I'm concerned, Lovebites broke the mold long ago and just continue to trailblaze a new path for next level metal. - Fan forever PS. The Awakening is a backing track that leads into the 3-song encore, Hammer being the 1st song.

I ordered the Judgement Day CD/Blu-Ray from CDJapan as soon as preorders were available. It arrived yesterday. The album is absolutely amazing. The only downside to ordering from Japan (besides the shipping cost) is the documentary is without subtitles. It is still a very interesting watch however. The 3 audition tracks and the Bravehearted track sound amazing on Blu-Ray. In the mix, the bass is brought up front and Fami sounds great. I am sure this is the same mix the band used in deciding between the final two. Something I found interesting from the video, is the apparent decision making between the two finalists. Fami used 3 fingers on her 5 string bass in the auditions. The other finalist strictly used a pick. It was clear that Fami's finger plucking recreated Miho's sound on the old songs, the sound the band was use to hearing. The girl with the pick simply could not do that. My understanding is that Fami worked very hard getting that gallop sound which she had never done before. It sure impressed the four. I am now convinced that Fami can do anything on the bass. In a way, Miho helped Fami get the job. No other bassist was able to match that Miho sound.

Ichinose can do it. Ichinose does not use a pick. She is also good at galloping. Was she not a finalist? If not, I wonder why. From the short documentary digest video, it looked like Fami, Ichinose, and Aya were the 3 finalists.

@@TheCyberMantis The second round of the audition was a group of six which included Ichinose, Aya and Fami. The six was reduced to only two for the final round and those two were Aya and Fami. Of the six, Aya was the only pick bassist. Lovebites, for the final two, seems to have selected two total opposite bassists in personality (Aya being no nonsense and professional and Fami being wide eyed and exuberant), experience (Aya much more experienced than Fami) and playing style (Aya with a pick on a 4 string and Fami using 3 fingers on a 5 string). My impression is that Fami was the most versatile bassist of the 4 female second round finalists. Another factor that might have helped Aya and Fami get to the final round is that they are both good vocalists.

@@danw6048 Interesting. Thanks for the info. Ichinose is also a good vocalist. One thing that might have actually hurt Ichinose was when she said she is a composer, and could help with the songwriting. I'm pretty sure that is not what Lovebites wanted. It might also be one reason why Miho left the band. If you look at all of the Lovebites songs, most of them are written by Mao and Miyako. This is just something I have been thinking about for awhile.

@@TheCyberMantis I am not sure that Ichinose was hurt because she is a songwriter. Aya and Fami also write songs and I would guess they would have made that known. Lovebites probably knew that anyway since Fami wrote songs for her EP and Lovebites likely already knew about Aya. Fami is going to get a chance to work with Mao in composing a song, and the other two would have as well. In my opinion, the only finalists that had a real chance at getting the job were Ichinose, Aya and Fami. The 4th girl was only 15 and Lovebites was not going to choose a guy. Why was Ichinose the first of the three to go? I don't know. But I would have not wanted to compete with Fami. She has a rare combination of talent and charisma. You really need to see how well Fami did in the three final round audition songs. Two of them are Miho songs and Fami played like she was Miho. Aya never had a chance.
