This song is just mesmerizing. Some times I speculate that the USA doesn’t want their rock/metal bands to be humiliated by the Asian bands, specifically by the all-female Japanese bands.

After "Shadowmaker" put the world on alert, this is the one that burned everything down. Shadowmaker, this, and "Break the Wall" were all I needed to hear to know that metal had a new top band in town. All the old bands are like a bunch of cowboys with six-shooters. Lovebites showed up, a girl-gang in white, packing phasers. Game over.

After composing “When Destinies Align” , Miyako. gave it the temporary title “LOVEBITES “ . She had be saving that honor since 2017 for use when she wrote a song “devine” enough to bear the band’s name. Miyako described the track as melodic speed metal. Recognizing the song as representative of the band, Asami wrote the lyrics about it‘s five members. 🤘

When Miyako wrote music to this song her working title for this composition was "Lovebites". With Asami's lyrics this song became "When Destinies Align". When they play this song live Asami always says "This is us!" in the beginning of the song. And this is true! 🤘

Miyako and Midori said in an interview many of the parts in their songs are written with a Live audience in mind. That is probably one of the reasons you often see Lovebites fans saying, "they don't have a bad song". They keep pushing their limits moving forward without losing that Lovebites touch!! Phenomenal band really! 🤘🔥

Thank you for your reaction to LOVEBITES. Miyako forgot her armor when filming the MUSIC VIDEO for "When Destinies Align." In other words, so only Miyako is not a military commander, but a lower-ranking samurai. During the EU tour, Miyako forgot his white shoes and sourced black shoes locally. So, breaking the LOVEBITES rule, only Miyako wore black short boots. There is live footage to prove it. Miyako has a lot of work to do during production and live performances, so it's difficult to pay attention to other things, so maybe that's why she often forgets things. Miyako is a genius, so I think it's cute that everything is not perfect and there's something missing.

Hello RC! New subscriber and fellow southerner (Alabama) here! Like you, I saw the changes in music from the mid '80s into the '90s, and haven't been a fan of most American rock/metal since. And I never dreamed how far western popular music would move from being focused on truly inspired instrumentalism. There are exceptions of course, but you have to search them out. Thankfully, that pushed me toward other realms of the musical world over the last five years, as I have really expanded my knowledge of latin music, and more recently eastern female led rock and metal; and it is glorious! I was fortunate to see Band-maid, Babymetal, and Hanabie all in 2023, but LOVEBITES is my favorite, and I am proud to have my Atlanta ticket! Also a big ZZTop fan, and I did appreciate their return to form in recording Rhythmeen and XXX in the '90s. Some really funky stuff on those two records. I hope you get a chance to see LOVEBITES in 2024!

Agree with your comments completely, again, and it's not just the US's ignorance of Japanese bands, which is why I made those suggestions to listen to something from Opeth and Wintersun...Swedish and Finnish respectively, but also Nightwish (Finnish again) who has millions of followers worldwide, except the US. As far as I'm concerned, radio and the corporate music system in the US has completely failed us!! Loved hearing this song again and the fact that everyone has standout parts!🤘

Miyako in this music video without armor is probably because she was initially a guest musician, and not an official member of the band, like the character Toshiro Mifune in Akiro Kurosawa's classic film "Seven Samurai" (he was not a samurai). There are references to this film in this music video. The history of the formation of Lovebites is similar to how these samurai come together. They gathered to protect the village from bandits, and Lovebites gathered to protect heavy metal from the dominance of the pop product of mass culture. The same tema is continued in the opening video for the Heavy Metal Never Dies 2021 concert. Heavy metal never dies because five samurai Lovebites stood up to protect him.

@@RockCandy-ix3nn Here is another side of the mythology and symbolism of Lovebites, which most of even the most devoted fans are unaware of. About wolves and white dresses. In Japan, wolves have been considered extinct animals for over a hundred years. But there are rumors that not all died out, some still survived. Lovebites play endangered music and associate themselves with these surviving and rarely seen individuals. It's like they're saying, heavy metal isn't dead, it's still alive. And he will never die. In addition, the white wolf in Japan is a mythical animal the guardian deity. The White Wolf is present in the Mononoke-hime epic anime written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. In white outfits, Lovebites are white wolves who protect and preserve heavy metal. Everything is absolutely thought out and done at the highest world level. Surprisingly, it so happened that Lovebites is a legend from the very beginning.)

@@MinaTepesshu Perhaps LOVEBITES will come to the country where you live in 2024. Or they'll find themselves in a country next door to you during their 'The Thin Line Between Love and Hate' World Tour. Today it is already known that LOVEBITES performances ( part of the World Tour 2024) as are planned : June 2024 - Viveiro (Spain), Cartagena (Spain), Clisson (France). September 2024 - Tokyo (Japan), Atlanta (USA) When the World Tour schedule is drawn up, LOVEBITES will publish more countries and cities in which they plan to perform. You are right, the ladies said that they are “now working day and night on new material” and they are planning a new release in 2024. In 2024, LOVEBITES wants to focus on recording and releasing a new album and a World Tour. For this reason, only one concert will likely take place in Japan (September 1). It can be assumed that many more countries and cities will be added to the World Tour schedule.

Great review - and EXTREMELY pertinent comments about East v West ( although there really is NO contest at the moment ) . There are a couple of things that I think should be considered - firstly( without being disrespectful ) Americans tend to be extremely parochial about music ( and other things ) and many have little or no knowledge of bands from outside the U.S. - and if they do they often think that they're American bands anyway 🤣. Secondly too many Japanese agents / management companies seem reluctant to push their bands to a wider audience , either by simple things like English subs on videos or by sending them touring ( with a few exceptions notably Babymetal ) although this hopefully looks like it's changing now - AT LAST - with Lovebites , Nemophila and other bands doing more gigs & festivals outside Japan!

Tirade fully excused. The U.S. is full of great musicians. But they don't front bands any more. They are mostly doing studio work for Beyonce and Swift and the weenies like Bruno Mars who pass for male musicians today. Audiences don't focus on virtuosity any more. It's our fault as much as the industry's.
