Best engine? V8 or V10 or V12? Ferrari, Lamborghini and Aston Martin! With Tiff Needell

This video is an exciting one! Paul Woodman and Tiff Needell check out some of the best engine cylinder configurations, it's a battle of the magnificent V8, the glorious V10 and the fantastic V12!
Thanks to our friend, David W. Bush, we have three very fitting cars for the task in three very different colours! Representing the mighty V8, we have the Ferrari 488 Pista, which first came out in 2018 and is finished in a stunning Arancio orange paint, with lots of carbon fibre both inside and outside, even on the wheels! The Ferrari features 720HP, 770NM of torque and weighs just 1280KG. Could this be one of the most expensive Ferrari 488 Pista models out there, with over £100,000 of extras on it? It's turbocharged V8 certainly sounds the part!
Representing the V10 engine, we have the Lamborghini Huracan Performante, with it's 5.2L, naturally aspirated V10 and finished in another stunning colour! This Italian supercar is finished in the launch colour for the original Lamborghini Diablo, SE 30 Viola. The Lamborghini is slightly less powerful than the Ferrari, at 630HP, but the sound from that V10 engine is addictive! It does also of course have Lamborghini's ALA, or Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva, to achieve high downforce and low drag.
Then, it's over to 12 cylinders, coming from the Aston Martin GT12! This Aston Martin has just 600HP, but like the Lamborghini, the Aston Martin is naturally aspirated and sounds amazing! Like the other two cars, the GT12 is finished in Verde Mantis, which is an £18,000 option and actually a Lamborghini colour that had to be signed off by then Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer. The GT12 is limited to just 100 units, with just 23 here in the UK, so it's pretty special! It started at £250,000 when new plus a huge £70,000 worth of extras!

None of those exotic cars have the low end torque power of a V8 American pushrod engine at 1000 rpm such as a Corvette 6.2 litres or Dodge Challenger 6.4 litres or Dodge Viper V10 8 litres. Not to mention the cheap maintenance. Those exotic cars have to rev up to 1800+ rpm for the turbos to kick in.

Love them all but V12 gets you best of both. Bit of low end and high end music. It's always gonna be my favourite, but V8's and especially V10's have their own special appeal.

Fantastic video. We just happened to be having lunch at Lucknam Park that day and saw you filming this back in June. The colours of those cars in the sunshine in real life was eye-searing - Not to mention the noise! You can also see us driving home at 13 mins 7 seconds in the video (old C63). Aston every day for gt driving. The colour is a bit loud for me, but epic car. Remember seeing it in the flesh at AM bristol a while ago. Still love the bonkers lambo and great coloured ferrari. Great video and they picked the best car 👍

Completely agree. Harnesses in road cars are just dangerous. Either you have a harness and a HANS and do it properly, or you have a 3-point inertial belt and an airbag.

I believe the greater question is which engine by what maker in what car. The Brabham BT62 V8. I love engines, the sound of a 12cyl, especially the Testarossa, a V12 and V10 have very sweet sounds (and can even be felt through the car), the V8 is usually more thump and rumble (felt through the body).

Fuel efficient engine with minimum 300 hp and 300 lb of torque. No Turbocharger no Supercharger no electricity bs motors, just reliable engine. Don't care for exhaust noises but spirited performance and good tight handling. Tho Ferrari is favourite but Non turbo Porsche Carrera is work of art too . Good Presentation Tiff 😎👍

My favourite has always been the V12 but as I heard the Ferrari V8 I felt that I had to admit that the V8 sounds really great!.. Then the V10 made me consider that maybe the V10 was going to be the best as it sounds spectacular! Unfortunately for the V8 and V10 the tingle on my neck and goose bumps I got from the V12 highlighted that the V12 is just the King(or Queen) of car Engines! Of course the Merlin is also one of the most incredible sounding engines ever developed by man(and probably some women too). V12, all day, every day! 🥰🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🥰

@@DeePunter but their heavy af batteries are awful for cornering inertia so whats the point. Hybrid okay but full road EV’s dont perform on track compared to ice. For example the tesla plaid has 350hp more than the jaguar project 8 but still the tesla gets slapped around the track.
