Thanks for your reaction Jay and Amber. Note; it's a spiritual song, uplifting. Yah is the Hebrew name(YAHWEH) for God. Listen to the lyrics again with this understanding. The song begins with " Heavenly Father" and later tells you " reach out and call His Name ". YAH will be there for you. Love y'all energy and positivity. You have been in my prayers, Jay. Stay strong young man. YAHWEH will be there for you.

James Ingram unfortunately passed away January 29, 2019 . The title of the song was named by James Ingram using YAH from the Bible, " YAH MO BE THERE " was to mean GOD WILL BE THERE . " Yahweh " is the Hebrew name for God in the Bible. The song is about God Our Heavenly Father. Exodus 6:2-3

This is a great spiritual pop song. Yah/Jah/Yahweh/Jehovah is indeed there whenever you call. It's unusual for a song to have such an obviously spiritual title/theme and be a hit, especially outside the USA, but this got plenty of airplay in the UK and Ireland too. Loved this from when I was a kid in the 80s, and it still sounds so funky, cool and soulful to this day.

I just suggested this by e-mail two days ago...that was quick. Fifth on a list of five, so others must have too... James Ingram got a long overdue solo #1 of his own in late 1990 with "I Don't Have The Heart". That would be well worth a visit. It's basically Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me" but from the other end of the equation.

The great Quincy Jones passed away this past week (the man who produced this excellent song), and he had *so* many great musical productions in addition to the legendary Michael Jackson albums. For some great dance numbers, try "Stuff Like That" by Ashford & Simpson (1978, the full 6-minute disco version!) and two great songs by his god-daughter, Patti Austin: "Betcha Wouldn't Hurt Me" and "Razzamatazz" (from 1980). One of Mike's very first solo concerts was at the Universal Amphitheatre in L.A. (no longer there) and James Ingram was there. I asked about the song and what it meant. They said that Yah is short for Yahweh, meaning a higher power. Yah Mo B There simply means that whatever higher power you believe in, God or otherwise, just believe in that inner power and you can get through the hard times. A beautiful song!
