The reason is simple. Many dogs in the Eastern European countries like Ukraine are not accustomed to dry food and even to the wet canned food. People there traditionally feed dogs with "human" food. It can be specially prepared food, or it can be leftovers. But the point is that the bone must be a real bone, and the pieces of meat in the barley porridge must be a real beef, pork or chicken.

It is a hard decision to make. One you do not do lightly. I care for canine friends more than my human friends. Very few humans are worth that kind of loyalty.
