So good. This year I am changing from reading the Bible in a year (which I rushed through on catch ups a lot of times 🫣) and just spend more time just pondering the scripture and connecting with it deeper for union with God ❤ I don't want to rush through my time with Him

As I prayed and listened I got a picture of something I want to share. I saw a gas station (my place of entering prayer/the day) and a choice of pumps (encounter, filling). Self-serve: doing it myself, quickly, getting what I need for the now. Mini-serve (an Oregon option): where an attendant receives my payment and request and fills my tank and off I go. Full Service (remember the days): where I pull up, pop the lid and someone comes, starts to fill the tank, while checking the fluid levels "under the hood", eyeballs the tires, wash the windshield (vision), and tops off any fluids that are getting low. I hope you see the picture too. In my consecration, my choice of service is critical to my life, my day as I drive away. Do I take the time, abandoning my do-it-yourself, "You've got this" mantra, and allow my Creator/Redeemer/Father full access to who I am, what I need, and how I will get where I'm supposed to go? This really got my attention as I considered what you were inviting us into during the remaining days of Epiphany. Thank you John and Allen.

I really, really needed this "come to Jesus meeting," as I have been straying in my discipleship, preoccupied, trying to grab the bull of life by the horns MYSELF and I really appreciate being redirected and re-centered into the main thing! You gave me so much help with clarity and direction in today's podcast! Thank you guys for doing what you do! It's interesting to me that when a new year rolls around or other obvious times when things need to change I go right to myself brainstorming & mapping out on paper many of the things you discussed today that I think I should do instead of going to the very God that I say I want to do these things for/live in union with, and asking what He thinks I should be doing. I'm over here with a list of 40+ things that I came up with that I end up burying myself under shortly thereafter. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction *again*--to Him. ❣ Renewal. The word of the year. Things have to change. May I kindly ask you (because I am curious about your opinion on that topic) for considering a podcast feat. deeper thoughts about why many Christians choose to stay in Stage 1? Is it because of expected inconvenience? A lack of committment? A fear of loss? A constant state of consumerism that never required active participation, like: Being teached to be a submissive sheep somehow that isnt called to do more than being served, not being able to partner with Jesus/Holy Spirit? An acquired dependence on Christ ( and others) that leads to an inability to take steps into a more self committed way of discipleship? What do you think? Whats the key issue? Have a good start over there. Whatever it may mean for you. Favor.

Hello, thanks for the question! Without knowing you personally, it's hard to recommend specific apps or tools to help with focus. As I say in this podcast, to avoid the distraction of phones and screens, it's good to use actual books and pen and paper. That's at least a step out of the matrix. Beyond that, it's hard to get more specific on tools since that'll vary by person. I hope this is helpful. Thanks! - Allen
