Even when it's a straight up literal-meaning pop song, Elliott finds a way to express it in the most poignant, dream-like way possible. Goddamit, Elliott.

there may be several musical geniuses, several poetic geniuses, several tortured souls who have done great things, but Elliot is the ONLY one who has ever given the world all these things in one man. Bless his beautiful soul

It's funny, there were probably lots of other people just as brilliant, maybe even more so, throughout history (bearing in mind we've been around thousands and thousands of years) that will never be remembered because technology didn't allow it. I'm grateful we have these pieces of Elliott left to remember him by, I'm sure countless people who knew someone incredible weren't so lucky; to be able to hear him whenever we need to is truly a gift

Elliott is an angel, his voice, his music, his soul. The emotion he transmits are very rare! Surely he is now in Heaven and he has all the love that was missing. Come in my dreams Elliott, I want to hug! Come!

My friend Jim Matio who passed away today. He got me into Elliott Smith especially the Figure 8 album. This is my favorite track from it. I purchased it on vinyl today in memory of Jim & Elliott!! Rest eazy!! Love Tim. 😞🖤

Listening Elliott Smith changes my dreams. It changes the way I feel in my dreams. I can only listen every now and then though.

Most people reject honesty for distraction and an 'easy to swallow' soundtrack to accompany them through a routine, it's convenient and painless. It takes compassion and understanding to identify with another's deeper emotions... You obviously have that capacity, which is something to cherish and look after regardless of all around you. Elliott Smith's genius for melody, and understanding of song composition will one day be fully recognized. Perhaps his beauty as a human being will never be.

everyone i know thinks his voice is depressing and shittty, i think he has the voice of an angel and i think my friends have the brain of a fucking gold fish!!

I think his studio recordings are much better than his live. I think his real talent was songwriting, not performing.

@ganuenen Exactly the same. they just rip into say it's depressing and repetative without taking the time to actually listen beneath the veneer and soak up the beauty of his words and that really hacks me off because honestly anyone who listens to Elliott's music and I mean listen and give it a chance can't help but be moved, I just take solace in the fact that there's people that can appreciate the true talent and I'm gonna leave my friends to their Mumford and Son and Kings and Leon Bullshit!

it's 6am, woke up a hour ago. Got my bottle of vodka here. I started early, as usual. Wouldn't mama be proud?
@seanmatthewking2 жыл бұрын
Go for a run instead. Or drink some vodka and then go for a run. Idk, I just know for me when I start the day with a “good” habit and some exercise, everything else tends to fall in place. It can be a short slow jog at first too. Or even a walk. Just one possible suggestion.
