while lovejoy aren't signed to a classic label, they are signed to AWAL, which if you didn't know is a subdivision of sony records that essentially find up and coming acts and lets them keep creative freedoms and license, but will fund albums (and let them pick their budget), find producers, promoters etc, and give them a representative, so lovejoy pretty much have the world at their fingertips

Yeah so I actually mention AWAL in the video! It stands for "artists without a label" and I'm pretty sure it's all distribution so spot on about the freedom

Scum has fully become my favourite song on the album, the breakdown where wilbur starts singing "I remember staring at the sea for the first time" reminds me so much of the fall. Masterpiece ♥️

Definitely a band that wants to break the mould. Screw the rules. They tried being original with passion and unleashing faith and adrenaline through their tracks. The groundbreaking sound truthfully shows up with a hint of Arctic Monkeys and the downright reference to bands like The Cribs and in my opinion The Strokes. I hope they remain faithful to their indie sound rather than making into mainstream. Hopefully

I’m pretty sure Wilbur has talked about not wanting to sign with a label. I don’t know if his opinion on the matter will ever change but the last thing I heard was very much against the idea. I do hope they can improve on the production side as well, and I do feel like they have since their first EP.
