@winxclubfairiesrule1 Жыл бұрын
The reason it worked even though it wasn’t actually a spell is because her intent, her emotions, forced it to work. Magic isn’t about the words, it’s about the feelings, the thoughts, and what you want to happen with it. If the words really mattered, they wouldn’t be able to change spells or even make them up as easily as they do

The way I interpreted how the WOWP spells worked was a combination of the words used and your intention/focus. Justin was the most intentional/focused, so his spells would work as he intended them too. Alex was less focused, which is why she’s yield different results even if she said the exact same spell as Justin. And we’d see that when she was in a pinch and actually focused, her spells would work without any negative side effects.
@DatVideoDoe Жыл бұрын
IMO, I interpret the use of the wand as a physical way to focus your magic. You can yield more powerful results with a wand vs with no wand/hand magic.
@DatVideoDoe Жыл бұрын
WHICH explains why the “I wish you and dad had never even met” spell worked. Alex was very focused and intentional with those words AND was using a physical object that focuses her magic, the wand.

In my head, the spell rhymes, gestures, and wands are just tools to focus their intention on a specific result. Magic is a force, they're born with the ability to access it, but they have to learn to gather the magical energy, hold it, and shape it. Each one might have different aptitudes for gathering, holding, or shaping.

What I've gathered since childhood was Justin was definitely the most technical skilled wizard of the siblings, Alex was the most Natural she was always using magic so everything came easy to her, Max was overlooked as the most creative with his spell casting he always did things the others would never think of. So each of them all had their own strengths with very situational magic.

Keyan Charlie does a whole two-video retrospective on Wizards of Waverly Place and it's honestly so eye opening. It shows just how much they really didn't keep consistency with the rules of magic and even the movie has it's own plot holes when it comes to how magic is done. I still love the series and I hope it one day gets a revival like ICarly though.

@gladiscontreras376 Жыл бұрын
I could be wrong, but I believe the reason they use a wand is to increase precision and make the spell stronger. The same is true for spell wording; for example, a simple spell like when Justin helped Alex out of the bag could be done in a variety of ways because the simple goal is to get her out of the bag, but a more difficult spell would necessitate more specific wording. That is why they would need to remember certain more difficult spells. I'm not sure if this is a bad analogy, but it's similar to when we do math problems. If the math problem is relatively simple or we have a lot of experience solving similar problems, we can use a variety of methods that work for us; however, if the problem is more complex, we must use a specific method/formula to solve it correctly. This is all just my opinion, I could be completely wrong.

Disney is literally my whole life! I literally loved Wizards of Waverly Place and hopefully this movie is still as great as I remember it to be.

They legit never did explain the magic thing though. There are some scenes that they clearly study spells that are unchangable (like the one with the bunny in the first episode), but can be applied to different situations, but still we don’t ever really learn how extendable that is. It does leave more room for interpretation though differently than other wizard movies like harry potter - in WoWP people create spells by making rhymes, in hp we never discover how they do that!

In terms of the spells, I honestly feel like it doesn’t even matter what they say as long as the intent is there. We’ve seen them make up spells, change spells, use magic silently… and the the quality of the magic doesn’t change. They always get the result they want unless they’re distracted or something

I think the only reason they have spells is just to give them, as wizards in training, something to guide them and figure out what result they want to get.

I remember being OBSESSED with this movie when it came out (in hindsight, I had a very intense crush in Selena Gomez and just didn't know it yet lmao so that might've played a role into my love for the show and this movie)!!! Also, in terms of the one Disney Channel Original Movie that I love the most, I have to say Lemonade Mouth : I don't even think it's anything to do with the quality of the movie itself, cause there are quite q few Disney Channel movies that I LOVE and can't really rank, but this one just genuinely shaped me when I was a kid; I'm pretty sure it was one of the first pieces of media that gave me that first spark of "oh, I could actually make music and get somewhere if I work for it hard enough!" (Obviously it's not a realistic movie, but I remember it making me feel unstoppable)! That and it also made me fall in love with Bridgit Mendler's voice and her first album (Hello my name is...) was the first CD I bought for myself and i still love it and think it's really good to this day🥹🥹

I think there was an episode within the first or second season where Jerry teaches them about spell improvisation. Essentially altering a spell for a specific action or request. And I think the wands are initially used to focus the magic for the wizard in use, eventually I guess they do not need to use them but still do for pizzazz or for stronger spells.

Sure, your steps do sink so you have to keep moving, but as long as you keep moving, you're completely sober and not too heavy it shouldn't be a dangerous actually. The only problem I had with quicksand is that I walked on it barefoot as it was a hot summer day. That black mud will get stuck underneath your toenails for MONTHS. As if it has crawled into the very pores underneath your toenailbeds.
