Her near obsession over Tristan always made me wonder if Samuel had survived, would she have been a faithful partner to him? I don’t think Tristan would have crossed that line but feel she would have. It always seemed to me that she was fond of Samuel, leaned on Alfred, but loved Tristan. Personally, I preferred his relationship with Isabel II. She had an inner strength and independence that Susannah never did, and Tristan needed those qualities in a partner.
@xxwhispersxx2856 Жыл бұрын
Really interesting to think about. I think if Samuel had survived, she wouldn't have crossed the line either, but her attraction to Tristan definitely would have been evident and I don't believe Samuel and Suzannah's relationship would have survived. Once Samuel came down off that love high with her, he would have noticed. And Tristan never would have hurt Samuel like that to have an affair with his spouse/fiance.

If you watch the scene where she is introduced to the brothers, you can see the love that Alfred had for Susannah almost from moment one. Tristan however sets more of a lustful gaze upon her. He is too wild and carefree to think about love and settling down. Susannah falls deeply in love with Tristan but sadly, he doesn't feel the same for her. I think he tries to love her in his own way but he is in too deep a mourning over the loss of Samuel and I think he feels a sense of shame for having taken his brothers soon to be wife, even if he was dead. He was too messed up after the war and the timing was not on Susannah's side. Alfred would have been more her speed from the start but she only settled for him once it was clear Tristan wasn't coming back to her. And then this scene...She had to be sure it was truly over by visiting him. I know it was over but I think she needed to see if there was any feelings he may still have lingering for her. When he says, "Go home...to Alfred." She knows there is absolutely no hope. Ugh, this movie is just so heart wrenching. Poor Susannah and poor Alfred. :(

This scene is so raw and what made me fall in love with the movie and Brad pitt. It was just bad timing for Susannah and thristan.. If only she had waited just a bit longer, they could have been together. He loved her in his own way but the guilt and death of Samuel was a huge weight on him. He felt responsible. Alfred fell in love with her the moment he saw her. Tristan was attracted to her but would never have crossed the line. She was attracted to Tristan too but loved Samuel. Alfred she never loved and married him because she thought Tristan wouldn't be back. And in this scene, Tristan did the right thing by telling her to go home to Alfred because he didn't want to cross a line with his brother coupled up with the tension btw them already. A lovely beautiful film that portrays life being messy. Timing is everything in life. Fantastic acting by all the actors. Good film. Sir Anthony Hopkins was amazing. Thanks for uploading.

Susannah fell for Tristan the moment she seen him that’s why she didn’t want to give Alfred a chance even though she knew he would have been the better choice and she told him she would cause him pain because she love Tristan too much. Tristan didn’t cause her ruin she did it to herself, he was a family orient man who was devoted to his love ones, he was just free spirited with built in anger that started from his first love leaving (his mother) then to his baby brother death, he was a good man that had good intentions but also was fighting inner demons. He loved that girl but he Also almost stabbed her so he had to leave to find himself and he changed for her and his dad because you guys seen how his dad looked at him as he was lashing out at the bar with pity, his dad knew his son was still sad deep inside, just to come home to more bad news but he did tell her to marry another but Alfred though🤨 it could had been anybody else but hey sometimes you have to catch what life throws at you… this was a epic love story of two soulmates that could never be together because of the circumstances of how they life were set up and thoughtless decision making that occurred, I cried on almost every scene and watched this movie about 15 times💔🥰

I don't think Tristan was ever in love with Susanna. I think he has love for her because she is a link to Samuel. I think Isabel Two was a good spouse for Tristan. Isabel knew how to read people & situations. She knew how to approach people & when to step back. Susanna, unfortunately, seemed more deeply infatuated with Tristan than in love. Susanna was very delusional about her relationship with Tristan. What annoyed me the most with Susanna is that she ignored Tristan's grief. It's one thing to not know how to console a grieving person. It's another thing when you don't acknowledge their pain. Susanna constantly hovered over Tristan rambling about their non-existent future. Not one time did Susanna ever ask Tristan about his feelings regarding Samuel's death. Nor give him encouragement regarding his guilt over Samuel's death.

I’ve seen too many clips of this movie just because of how perfect it is. Showing the imperfections of a family, proving after all that blood is thicker than “water”. I always look at the comments and I never notice anyone pointing at the main issue, the lack of a mom in your children life. The way they introduced Susannah was perfect, not looking too young, not too old. She could even be Dad’s new partner, main reason all of them were touched by her love and kindness. You can see this when they all are eating at the table, all of them trying to be courteous with her. They were missing a mom, Tristan never forgive himself for his little brother death and also for crossing the line with his fiancee, main reason at the jail he said to Susannah “go home, go to Alfred “. He crossed the line one time, he is not doing it anymore, even knowing she was his true love. Tristan also grew hating mom for leaving them. Alfred was the envy brother, he was seeking dad approval, he wanted to be better than Tristan, you see this when Dad is saying goodbye to them while going to war, he only trusted Tristan enough to keep them both safe because he knew Tristan was different. Tristan had severe PTSD, he was trying to kill everything out of rage, to the point of having severe episodes (when they’re holding him in one of the scenes). He also tried to commit suici** in that mountain only saved by the horse fear of falling down. Tristan also thought that he was rejected by God because of cursing him when Samuel died. He’s the perfect representation of pain changing your life through acceptance,guilt and sorrow. When he left he knew this was his problem, he needed to heal first, knowing he could lose everything. Sending that letter to Susannah it was probably due to his depression, thoughts making you feel less and not worth it. At the end Alfred finally gained dad approval, their last hug proved this, and forgiving Tristan, minding more family bonds. Susannah’s and Tristan love was a true tragedy, they were connected since their first moment close!

When you don t have balanced unconditional love as a child , you always seek love where u won t get it. If ur parents r insecure, u seek love in insecure partners. Suzanne was insecure and Tristan immature

I really enjoyed reading your interpretation. Someone in a comment somewhere said that even the Coronel was in love with her, and actually looking back, it makes sense, not that he would act on it. That house was very unbalanced with all those men.

Only in a movie would a woman still get married with 1 of the 3 brothers after she slept with all of them.....In reality, the brothers would have slept with her and treated her like a booty call but they would never marry her. Especially not at that time
@onyx7273 Жыл бұрын
She was engaged to Samuel and at that time it would have been unlikely she slept with him. She probably didn’t. Only Tristan snd alfred. But yes you’re right in that Alfred probably wouldn’t have wanted her after she was with Tristan.

Tristan and Samuel had a conversation where they discussed Samuel was waiting till they got married and Alfred married her after she’d been with Tristan so he more than likely knew. He just loves her and thought they could be happy.

Silvia's mum is 152cm,very short. With all things being equal, Silvia's dad will be either 183cm(if she took her dad's bones) or 195cm(if she combined both bones),which I settled for the latter.With her long legs,I figured her dad was over 6feet(6'4). She didn't grow well. I made up my mind to uniform her height when we go to GH,to about 173cm-175cm

We will just talk to the soul and something to bath for the dust(body) and roots(veins and intestines) etc to change to what we want.

Hated everything about her. Just like her to show up to a grieving man to talk about herself.

You can say what ever you want. She was crazy she slipped with all three brothers come on. Isabel II knew what she wanted as a little girl she said that she was going to marry Tristan and she did. Susannah was just a flussy.

She wasn’t a floozy 🙄 and she didn’t even sleep with Samuel. It was kind of a first love. College sweethearts that never went past a kiss before he died. What did she really know about love at that point? Until Tristan. With Tristan it was passion. She fully loved him and was committed to him, but he left her and was gone for *7 years.* What was she supposed to do? Alfred loved her the way she loved Tristan and she couldn’t stay at the ranch waiting for Tristan forever. Forever got to be too long. Yes she settled for Alfred, but only really loved Tristan

@@CJLOVE23 I know, what kind of a strange life was that for Susannah being an unmarried woman just hanging out at the ranch for all those years, especially in those days just on the chance that Tristan might decide to show up someday. Marrying Alfred and having a good and prosperous life with a man who loved her was not a bad choice, but then of course Tristan had to show up and cause turmoil.

No, I think she wanted Tristen from the moment she saw him. And then had to take what she was able to get. Always hard to settle when the one thing you REALLY want is dangled before you.
@EasyDoezIt_t2 ай бұрын
To be with him meant Samuel had to die. Then the pain the Tristan had to die. Then Isabel 2 had to die. She thought about Alfred dying. Hoped he would even. She couldn’t resign herself to a life being Alfred’s wife, so to be with Tristan one more person had to die, and in that moment, she decided that it would be her.
