You really nailed it on this one. Great when you go back to pedals and take a different approach and I think you really caught what was special with this one here. I prefer the lower gain stuff but the higher gain stuff was good too!

Very good sounding pedal. Currently I’m using the Jive into my JHS Morning Glory which sounds amazing through the LS-2 for more bass boost. Something about that Jive pedal that just makes the pedal after sound even better. The MG is very popular now in the U.S. amongst working pro bassists these days. It sounds great in all situations.

Here the MG is not that common on bass. But definitely one that I need to check out for myself. 😉

Great review as always. I agree that a balanced saturation over the full tone sounds great in the mix. Please take a look at the MXR Bass Overdrive too as I think it does a similar job, and does it very well too

Ok! Never was too convinced by the mxr but I will demo it if I find one at a decent price second hand. Besides, others have suggested the same so…

For Years the mxr bass overdrive was on my pedalboard as an always on pedal cause it is a one trick pony. I'm sure that the lucy dreamer is much more versatile as you can also see/ hear in this video

I love this pedal. It's my number one, always on drive. I play in an instrumental stoner rock band, and it's perfect. It's phat, and sits in the mix superbly.

Oh wow, I guess you don’t agree with me then! 😂. As I said in the video I would go for the Rattler or the Red Muck for Stoner but it’s cool to hear an opposite point of view 🤘🏽. Proves that the same gear can be used in many ways.

@@thewetterbass I actually own the the Red Muck and the Rattler. I love the Red Muck, it’s on my board, I use it occasionally. The Rattler though, I find the drive sits too high up in the frequency range and the bass is too lean. That’s the beauty of the Lucy. Sits perfectly for me.

Sounds awesome! I currently run a Jam pedals Rattler (bass) as my only dirt pedal on the board! I found myself in a similar position where I thought it was muffled etc, totally changed when I played it with the band! Going to try out the Lucy dreamer next I think!

Sounds similar to the issue I had with the Rattler Bass. It didn't work, for me, until I tried to approach it NOT like a Rat.

I had it for a while, but couldn't dial it in right. Never blended in with my bands. Cool that you made it work for yourself. 😎 I'm curious: did you get your hands on the new JHS Harddrive?

I'm dying to hear this thing paralleled with the red muck, and running into the simplifier (with a low passed clean signal blended in of course... 😉) If you would be so kind, I think that would be a sick set up, and I've been wondering if I should pull the trigger on doing it (already have the simplifier.. kind of in the weeds as to what gain pedals I want). I know you got these lying around! (And to be extra clear, I mean splitting the signal into both the red muck and lucydreamer, then blending both and going into the simplifier, and having a third clean signal go into the lpf loop of that thing... its kind of a ultra analog megazord alpha omega studio setup hybrid kinda thing.)

@@thewetterbass that would still be an awesome thing to hear (the lucy + rattler) I feel like there's some unexplored territory with the parallel distortion setups on bass.
