@@thewetterbass Yes. I received it this afternoon and used it at my rehearsal: always on, in front of the EBS Multidrive, both setted at low gain (11 o'clock). So it adds a bit of (different) grit to the EBS, but with more bass and treble. That's great. And it's crafted like way more expensive pedals.

When you say no mids, do you mean the mids are scooped or just the fact that there's no mid control?
@thewetterbass8 күн бұрын
A bit of both: Ampeg’s typical sound has a notch at around 400Hz (a cut at that frequency) and there’s no mid control on the pedal (which is not a problem because by cutting bass and treble and raising the overall volume you can actually boost the mids). Hope this answers your question.

@thewetterbass17 күн бұрын
Yes surprising results. Obviously the sound would be more accurate with a bridge pickup. But with the Joorny I wanted to take the Precision concept to another level, keeping it simple yet powerful.
@VeitLehmann17 күн бұрын
@@thewetterbass I totally get it! I have an Aria Pro II RSB Standard, which is basically a P bass, but with the pickup about 1 inch further back towards the bridge. It's also really responsive and can sound like a traditional P bass when playing in front of the pickup, or almost StingRay or Jazz Bass like when playing near the bridge. Also, like yours, fully passive, volume and tone, that's it. Instruments like this have a special place in my heart! But still, I'm currently building a bass that does things very differently: 2 sliding pickups (a special design built by a friend), combined with a filter preamp a la Wal/Alembic, and 5 strings on 35" 🤤I designed the body for it, it's somewhere between a Jaguar, Jazz Bass, Lakland and StingRay 5.

@@thewetterbass One brand that I like is Maruszczyk, I have 2 Elwoods that are styled after the J. What drew me to that model in the first place is the retro styling combined with some modern refinements; the deeper cutaway and a smooth heel. It's comparable to what US carmakers have done, making new Camaros and Mustangs that have retro styling but with modern technology.

Hi, is the normal 1/4 output of the pedal balanced or unbalanced???
@thewetterbass17 күн бұрын
Hello! There are 2 outputs. One is a regular line out unbalanced 6.35mm jack (goes to the amp) and the other is a DI balanced out XLR (goes to mixing consoles, audio interface, etc)
@lucacollalti252018 күн бұрын
Hey man, thanks for the cool video! However, I really don't understand what the problem is with blending. Could someone explain that to me like I'm 5 please? 😅
@thewetterbass17 күн бұрын
Ok, let me try: . Bass sound is split in 2. Let’s call these two signals wet and dry. . Wet signal is the one that goes through the effects (compressors, octavers, drives, fuzzes, chorus, delays…) . Dry does not (although you could add some compression and eq for example) . Before sending these split sounds to the amp, you gotta combine them back, blend them back together. Cause the amp only takes one signal in! . Why would you want to split and blend back the bass signal in the first place? Simple: adding effects is fun and improves the sound, but it might make the bass sound like a guitar in some cases, and we don’t want that now, do we? . So we insert in the wet signal some dry signal (blending!) to make sure our bass sounds like a bass and everyone is happy. Especially the guitarists. 🤓

@thewetterbass I think I get it now, thanks!

Kasleder Jellyfish Bass OD/DS vs Jam Pedals LucyDreamer Bass Overdrive, any thoughts?
@thewetterbass25 күн бұрын
Get the Kasleder if what you want is more of a preamp saturation type of OD. The saturation does sound shaper than the LucyDreamer that’s fuller and darker. Both can be used as always on, but I feel the jellyfish is better at that whereas the 💡 behaves more as a quality traditional drive. So basically clarity VS thickness. Let me know what you prefer.

That 'No Amp' sound just crushes the both of those for girth. slam and control
@thewetterbass27 күн бұрын
And perhaps more articulation. It also depends on mics and their position, eq and lately something I’ve been getting into a lot: High Pass Filters for tightening up the lower end. Still I think an amp tames more the upper mids for a more controlled sound. 😉🍻

I’m always a fan of CMOS stuff and the whole jumper concept seems to work pretty well in action. The bass and the pedal sound great and complement each other very well. You keep showing us excellent sounding Mozztronics stuff and I know I’m going to have to get some eventually. The jumpers seem cool and definitely can do a lot of the overall tone of the pedal but I wonder if DIP switches would have been easier and faster to use?
@thewetterbass27 күн бұрын
Maybe, but wouldn’t 3 more switches on the top make the pedal less user friendly? I argue that it is better to have a “set and forget” base sound and then sculpt it with the top controls. But yes, that’s also something the builder himself asks…! 😅

Oh and yeah… I got more very nice things to review from Mozztronics!!!

Great demo Jean, and the only one of this pedal that seems to exist. Can I ask please - can this pedal hit the point of saturating the high mids (without fizz), but at the same time leaving lows and highs fairly clean. Im looking to add a pedal that can achieve the same kind of tone the Bill Gould acieves on the Faith No More album The Real Thing. For reference check the isolated bass track to their song Epic (kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoCtq4KCf6emfa8si=pcaO6HfAzh-Es-2r). If this pedal can do that I'll be lightening my wallet 😄.

True! However, it would be too much if all the internal jumpers would be switches outside, on the top plate. However, once deciding what sound you need or want, then it’s just right. Love the eq on the BP-7 for example. 👌
@PorchBass29 күн бұрын
@thewetterbass I start to think I need an end of chain pedal like that to provide a consistent impedance and level between some pedal combinations. Another reason for always using the amp as pre at home I guess. I like the new bass but don't hear much stingray preamp tone. More like a super P
@thewetterbass29 күн бұрын
That pedal can give you that preamp sound like the one in the third sound sample in the video. Interesting what you mention about the MM side of my pickup. @thewetterbass29 күн бұрын
Good question. The answer to me is obviously yes, because the market already exists and consumers know what to expect. Offering a new take on that sound is always positive and a plus for sales. So although a CMOS overdrive is a CMOS overdrive, like a tube screamer is a tube screamer, this doesn’t mean that it ends with Darkglass or Ibanez. The BP-7 offers more versatility than any pedals it clones at this price range. 😉
