The TT races are well over a hundred years old and loved by locals and visitors alike! It's very dangerous, though, and I'm not sure that it would be permitted as a new event. Many people have lost their lives racing in the TT over the years, but that seems to be part of the thrill for racing enthusiasts. High speeds and danger are very attractive to some!

You are a wealth of handy garden tools..Thirsty Earth ollas and Plant Surge! I already bought the ollas through your link (will install them next week in a new garden bed) and now I just bought a Plant Surge. Thanks for sharing the link and discount code!! (New Gardener, Garden Zone 8b, Texas USA)

Fantastic, I think you'll definitely find both very useful - especially the ollas for your region. I'm still astonished that Plant Surge works as well as it does, and I look forward to doing more trials in the future. You're very welcome for the discount codes :)

I have 4 acres of dry land but I only garden on 1/2 acre. the rest is managed forest for forest products. I have health issues so that, I think, puts me on level ground with someone working a full time job. 1/2 acre is a lot of land to care for!
@Lovelygreens

It is a lot! You need to really be someone who LOVES gardening and has time for it to manage that amount. Smaller gardens are far more manageable 💚

Eighteen inches high from what I hear. I did have a couple of carrots with root fly damage last year in the Vegepod, though! I think the flies might have been blown into them? Not sure.

Hi Tanya, I enjoy you vlogs because I typically learn something new, so thank you. Out of curiosity, do you have anything to report on the Manx indigenous wildflower experiment? This is of interest to me as I feel indigenous wild plants are being squeezed out more and more by exotic and ordinemental plants.
@Lovelygreens
@Lovelygreens Жыл бұрын
It hasn't gone as well as I'd hoped, and I'm actually in the middle of taking action on it today! As for the mix being indigenous - it's not really. It's a mix that's been developed by Phil Payne, who is the head of gardens at Manx National Heritage. He put the mix together specifically to attract and feed Manx wildlife and look good. I believe that all the species are native to the British Isles, though.

Do you also make soap bars in cute little shapes? I remember, when I was a child, my parents had a small basket of little soap bars in shapes like shells and sea stars in different pastel colours, I loved those so much. My parents don't have them anymore because in the year 2000 we lost our house with everything in it to a big disaster. Ever since I have been wanting to get some like it, but I have sadly never been able to find them.

I don't, but remember those, too! They were such a 80s/90s thing and NO CHILD was allowed to touch the soaps. Not edible and decoration only 🤣

Did you know strawberry leafs are medicinal and radish leafs are edible….sautéed when young radish leafs are like spinach…older ones I dehydrate and put into my greens jar. Take vodka and put the strawberry tops in it to flavor it. I’d love to have some raised planters like you have…getting older it’s difficult to weed near ground

Please share your recipe for ferminted radish. I don't like eating raw radish and I grow them to prevent bugs.
@Lovelygreens
@Lovelygreens Жыл бұрын
Sure thing :) FERMENTED RADISHES RECIPE Fill a quart-sized jar to the neck with cleaned, sliced radishes. I also place a few chive blossoms at the bottom for extra pink colour. Make a 5% brine: Fill a pint jar to the neck with hot water. Add about 21 g (~3.5 tsp) fine sea salt and stir to dissolve. Allow to cool to your ambient temperature. Pour the brine over the radishes to the bottom of the jar's neck and weigh them down under the liquid with a preserving weight. I used some cabbage leaves under the weight to help keep radishes from floating up. You may need to pour some liquid off later on, but keep the liquid about 1-1.5 inches from the top. Fit a fermenting lock/nipple or just set a lid on top, but don't screw it closed. Leave to ferment jn a warm but dim place until you like the flavour. Five to seven days should do it. There will be lots of bubbling action 😍 After that time is done, enjoy your ferment on salads, as a condiment, or a side dish. They can keep in the fridge for months, too.

Horseradish is a common roadside weed. Keep an eye out for it and dig up a few roots. It doesn't produce tubers, the roots are used. I grate them in a food processor and pickle in vinegar.
