Poultry wire works great to keep cats out. Just sit it right over the top of where you plant seeds until they come up. Cats won't walk on it.

Nylon stocking can help with the weight of the veg. Panty hose can be cut into two half’s pop the veg into the foot and secure with a string up top. Ventilation, bug can get at them and will explant as the pumpkins or whatever grows…

~ That hot wall is an ideal space for the zucc and the toms The toms should be planted seed deep and not in a hot pot base that'll bake the root system~ Get carp for that soil....I would buldup that hot wall with a raised bed rock design as is the backdrop as the wall.

I have a way to keep cats out of your garden beds. All cats want is a nice place to poop in a quiet area. Make a litter or buy a frame 16” by 16” or larger with no bottom. It needs to be a least 4” deep. Put the frame directly on the ground in a quiet “out of the way” place and fill with coarse sand. The coarser the better because it won’t be tracked around by cat paws and it will dry quicker after a rain. The rain will rinse the sand often. You will need to scoop out solids every two weeks with a slotted spoon or scoop. If you have a dry place for a litter box like under the eaves of the house it’s even better. The sand will stay dry and solids will dry. You will have to scoop solids every few months. If you notice a urine smell you can hose down the sand to rinse it every couple of months. Place each cat in the litter box two or three times a day until they learn it is a litter box. Cats usually learn fast. Maybe for three cats it should be larger like 18” by 24”. This always works for me. I hope you share this to other gardeners who have cat problems.

Small thought on your ollas, consider flipping the lids over. With the bowl up (and filled) they act as a bird and insect bath/watering station.

This is my first year of attempting to grow crops in fall like cabbage, Napa cabbage some lettuce. Unfortunately the started plants have been hit with bugs, worms, and slugs. The cabbage looks so bad, the leaves are chewed up. I tried the garden fleece to keep flying insects out but I think I was too late because when I would lift off the fleece I would find these long fly insects on the fleece and cabbage worms in the soil and on the leaves.
@Lovelygreens2 жыл бұрын
You might be able to salvage them if you remove the worst affected foliage and clear as many of the pests and weeds as possible. Then covering with wire hoops and fleece and keeping an eye out for slugs. Good luck!

Also, if you don’t have coarse beach sand you can use coarse construction sand or coarse play sand.

This was my first year using nets. Definitely worth the money and time . between birds picking the seeds and other wildlife like deer eating the plants when they come up. Or my old buddy the rabbit. You should check jadam Korean natural farming. Learn how to make your own biological from your own soil.
Just watching for the first time. Very nice garden and tunnel. Where are you from, if I may ask? Sounds like you‘re from the USA or Canada, with a bit of a mix of UK 😊 Just signed up for more tips and tricks, as I do plan to plant some cabbage soon.

It's a heavy duty hessian string from a local DIY shop. Really good stuff but neither the shop or string is a big brand.

Gardening naturally don't deliver to Europe 😭😭😭
@juliemcgugan12442 жыл бұрын
I’m in Cyprus and I have been told by managers in all sorts of businesses that they can import ZERO from the UK, now. Since Brexit, it is prohibitively expensive to source and ship any UK-produced items and they have all now started looking for producers within the EU or elsewhere. I was looking for some gardening equipment that was originally imported from the UK, but they can’t get any equipment or spare parts from them now. Was also looking for new tires from my gardening cart from Draper Tools UK. I would be absolutely lost without it in the garden, so am now looking for the same size product by another brand.
