This is my favorite book of all time, and if you loved this book i would recommend Tamara Ireland Stones other books Time Between us and Time After Time. Time Between us is about this boy that can time travel but can only travel in his time, he brings his older sister to a concert that happened 2 years before he was born and loses her in that time period so he goes back to 1995 when he was born and meets Anna. The story is about how they try to love each other even though in reality Anna is 16 years older than Bennett. Time after Time is the second book to Time Between Us and keeps the story going. Bennett start going in and out of 1995 and the two have to find a way to stay together even if bennett is missing out on his present. But one time when he went back he went back to the wrong time and and saw something he should have never saw. "will the decisions he makes from that point on cement a future that neither Anna nor Bennett wants?" -the synopsis of the book Time After Time by Tamara Ireland Stone

What you read about the book, about the "misfits in the slam poetry group" got me intrigued about the book too. And I think what you wrote about AJ, "such a sweetheart" concisely sums him up. I shipped SAM/AJ too not quite as soon as you did, but soon thereafter. As you can tell, I loved this book too. I just wish that we could have gotten to know the other members of the Poet's Corner a bit better; I'm really interested in all of them. Have you read Tamara Ireland Stone's other books yet?

i absolutely loved this book! it captivated me so much i spent an entire day reading and finishing the book. i was sad and kind of scared when i found out caroline was a figment of sams imagination. ive known from other storylines how when someone suffering from any mental illness starts imagining or creating different things its not usually for the best and means that they are getting worse, but i was so glad when it didnt end that way for sam! i like you shipped her and aj from the beginning lol

I felt like this book didn't really delve into Samantha's illness. It kinda stayed surface deep, and was all cutesy and stuff. I have OCD, and let me tell you, it is not easy to conceal. But everyone's experience is different than mine.

@WreckThisGirl i have to disagree, i have a friend who suffers from OCD and unless you were super observant of him or he blatantly told you, you wouldn't even know.

I've read it recently as well, and although the story was overall cute, I don't think the OCD part was portrayed in a realistic way. For example, how comes she was able to hide it from the Crazy 8's completely, even tho when she was 13 it was already severe? OCD is one of those mental illnesses that's actually pretty hard to conceal, let alone if you're 13 and you don't know any better.

+WreckThisGirl Everyone with OCD is different, and most people are completely unaware of the typical signs of OCD. If her OCD involved cleaning every surface in front of her and being a complete germaphobe, I'm sure her friends would have figured it out. Before my mom (who had been paying attention to my extreme perfectionism while doing school projects) suggested it to me, I had absolutely no idea that I had OCD. I thought that my obsession with straight lines was all minor perfectionism. When I would criticize and shame myself for having negative thoughts, I didn't think there was anything unhealthy about that. If people with OCD often can't see what is going on with themselves, how would their friends notice without background knowledge of OCD? Especially friends as self centered and preoccupied as the Crazy 8's. While the signs can be hard to conceal, they're also hard to identify. My friends don't know about my OCD, so when I freak out about my ruler moving while I was drawing a line, that's just "silly carolyn being a perfectionist". They wouldn't make fun of it of course, they just don't realize that there's a reason for my obsessions besides my personality. When I begin to have (sort of) panic attacks (I've never had any that were serious) , they just be supportive and try to make me feel better about whatever is upsetting me. My friends are smart, but they don't have the background knowledge about OCD they would need to identify these signs. (the tone of this comment isn't angry or anything btw, these are just my thoughts lol. just want to clarify since my opinion is different than yours and it can be so difficult to convey a tone through a youtube comment.) x

I've read Every Last Word and I found it so unrealistic. I was saddened by the way the OCD was portrayed because it was not realistic. I'm glad you enjoyed it, but Every Last Word to me is not a realistic read. I guess it was more of a cutesy book rather than an accurate portrayal of OCD.

Thats not exactly a fair accusation considering all forms of OCD are different. I personally know someone with OCD and his behaviors are not so much like Sam but that doesn't mean anything. I'd also like to remind you that Tamara based Sam off of a real person whom she knew. Does that mean that her OCD isn't 'accurate'? Of course not. Mental illness varies person to person. x

I'm sorry, my comment was a bit harsh, but I saw a review that explained very well. It felt very Disney to me. I'm sorry if I insulted anyone for saying my negative review, because I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. You are a booktuber I look up to. I have OCD tendencies and it is almost impossible for someone with full fledged OCD to hide it, and even at such a young age.
