I served in Korea 1966-68. I was at Camp Kaiser, 7th ID, 10TH Armor Cav, B troop, 2nd squadron. I loved Korea and the people of Korea. I was there for 16mos. A lot of nights on the DMZ, and LRPS. I learned a lot of the language and was able to communicate with nationals quite well. I love the traditional music. I could sing the entire song, Arirang.

Since a fiew days there is a good novel by Anna Kim DIE GROSSE HEIMKEHR - a story of three friends, playing in 1959/60 in South Korea and Japan. There a lot is told about the history since 1945. The book ist written in german, a korean version is in preparation and - I hope - a english and japanees follows.

What's up with all the negativity? You are listening to the most peaceful, soothing, and spiritual sounds that you can find and still have tendencies to argue and be as negative as you can. Those of you are the ones who really need some guidance. You can't be getting your satisfaction through overpowering others. Or it will continue in a never-ending circle until you decide to break out of that circle and make a positive change. Let's leave pages like this for positive content only, because everyone who is looking for and seeking this is in need of good positive and uplifting energy and has no room for more negativity and bad viewpoints. I need more traditional music like this in my life. If anybody knows anything else similar to this with such a positive uplifting feeling, please share!

I am one out of a million people who loves studying a different culture other than my own. Interesting enough, I am a huge fan of my favorite korean actor, Ho sung pak and for the first time ever, became curious on how korean music sounds. Now that I hear it, it is indeed full of beautiful melodies. And I can actually hear the ancient tunes coming through it. Praises to the composers for such a gift. Much love from Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

I'm not an idiot. I actually study Asian history. In the 1400s, the Korean discovered a way to create sharper and sturdier swords. Japanese blacksmiths took that idea, and turned into a katana. Cannons? Koreans also discovered a way to create a more powerful blast. They created a machine that could shoot 200 arrows at a time. Again, Japan copied that idea. Don't call people who actually know their history "idiots".

So soft and harmonious traditional Korean performance. Thank you. For the people who are not familiar on the history of Korea and Japan. Here is the short view on the origins. Koreans, Japanese, Mongolians, Yakuts, Uyghurs belong to Altai family and were mainly originated from Turkic tribes. The word 'Türk' means 'Strong'. There are so many similarities between Turkic, Korean and Japanese people, mainly in language pronounciations and scripts even though their alphabets evolved and changed throughout centuries.
@ColonelMarcellus8 жыл бұрын
+Anders Gustavsen I won't comment on the origins of the peoples, only the language; however, I very humbly and with respect agree with most linguists that the Korean language is not from the Altaic language group, but is (at least in modern times) a "lingua isolata" (isolated language, not connected with any currently existing language groups).
@conho48987 жыл бұрын
what script...Japanese and Koreans have used Chinese characters for centuries, not Turkic scripts.

@barkupmytree4 жыл бұрын
@@nicolovespanda Korea had been bullied a large amount by surrounding kingdoms. One particular empire was China. The Chinese empire had forced the Koreans to trade with the Chinese, pay tributary, and respect the Chinese emperor. Not to mention, the whole Korean peninsula was invaded by China at one point. We are friends with Mongolia because we have similar languages and are closely related (culturally and maybe genetically). Plus, us South Koreans don't necessarily like China because China is North Korea's ally because they are both communist. I don't hate China because I'm not from South Korea. South Koreans mostly hate Japan because of the occupation in World War I and World War II.
