It’s not even just the club scene. It’s everyday life and jobs too. Middle aged and older people don’t like to socialize either. In Chicago many people of ALL ages and races act very weird. They stare in people’s faces. Try to laugh in people faces to get a reaction, but don’t genuinely speak to others. It takes two people to socialize and communicate. Most people don’t understand that and have a mentality of thinking people need to talk to them. I don’t like these people version of socializing it’s very toxic and does nothing to enhance human interaction or togetherness.

My opinion....lots of things killed the club. Mainly social media....who wants to be recorded enjoying themselves, dancing provocatively on someone you normally wouldn't dance with etc. The wiz Khalifa Era turned everyone into a smoker and less likely to dance and interact with others. Lastly. It's really us men. Most act too hard to dance. The other don't know how to accept just a dance and do too much or scare the women. Or they just don't approach women fr anymore.

I can say for certain LA clubs are some of the worst and full of colorism. We have allowed this. It's the same thing in videos. It's not even certain you're getting in even if your skin is lighter since anymore. Some of these artist don't want black women of any skin tone being seen. Yet many still support them wholeheartedly.

Some years ago, a group of about 5 black girls who were denied entry into a famous London club where Karreuche Tran was making an appearance went to the press with their story. Only white and ambiguous women were being let in and when asked why by the girls, the black bouncer was very open and nonchalant about the club's 'no black/dark girls allowed' policy. Karreuche (surprise surprise) declined to comment. Not even one word of condemnation, but what would one expect from someone who dates a colourist? The story died down because the British public weren't bothered and the club continued to operate.

Im not a club person and went out of peer pressure in like 2010. I just couldn't believe people were literally back to back, shoulder to shoulder dancing. And it really looked like they didn't care who they were dancing with. Then a girl brought out a bottle that was shooting fireworks! Now you have people dancing on each other with fireworks falling on them. I can definitely see why people love it, but it was too much for 17 year introverted me.

I think the downfall of clubs was mostly the social media/Netflix and chill culture, covid, and shift toward special events/exclusive events like festivals. I also think helicopter parenting and fear culture make young adults less likely to want to go out late at night.

Exclusivity culture definitely killed the club culture. In my city colorism played a huge part. Uppercrust clubs, even if black owned, made it very obvious that they preferred non-black or ambiguous women in their environments. Often times this came at the request or preference of black athletes or other wealthy black men. Thank God for Latin, carribbean, and African clubs who don't get into that and still know how to party.

Yep, the clubbing days are long gone. Back then there were over 3k clubs you could go to in London. Places like Leisure Lounge, Blag Club, Bagleys, Velvet Rooms, Fridge Bar, Club Colosseum, Plastic People all gone, thanks to housing developers, gentrification, cross rail & Covid. Between 2020 & 2023 1,110 clubs have closed down. I went to Jazz Cafe on Saturday & walked straight out. Music was 💩everyone’s either taking hundreds of selfies or standing by the wall looking like they’ve been dragged in by force. I feel sorry for young people, they’ve been robbed 🤦🏾♀️

The last birthday party I went to the people were either on their phone, sitting or standing looking bored. Maybe 5 people on the dance floor. Nobody talking...just alot of staring 😑 Also the DJs do too much talking in between songs or they'll play a good song for a few seconds and switch it with a crappy song.
