I met my first today. Shes at a sanctuary and is apparently quiet and nasty. After being asked if I could do anything with him I offered banana and then my arm. .. Straight down, and stepped up 😊 He then came up to the upper arm and chatted away and blew loads of kisses. . Ive never come across one before and your video has helped me learn it's type and sex while on an I'd hunt. Thank you ❤

I live in Sydney and where I worked on the North Shore I would often see these parrots. The red is magnificent - almost a coral red and the green of the birds I saw was a almost luminous deep olive. Some of the parrots around Sydney are so beautiful and the King Parrot was the most beautiful I'd seen until one day - a long way west of Sydney - I saw a Mulga Parrot! Wow - worth googling. Thank you for this excellent article.

This video couldn't have come at a more perfect time :) I got a breeding pair of Kings sent to me 2 weeks ago from someone I thought I could trust .When they arrived the female was not the best looking and 3 days later passed. They didn't even seem to be a pair to me as didn't want to be near eachother .The male will take food from you so me and my husband decided to keep him .Fast forward to today and while he's being quarantined from my flock hes been whistling away like really deep tune and he's been barking like a dog .Hes also been making wild bird sounds .It's so realistic that when he first did it I thought someone was outside the house 😮 .He's staying with us now and will have the best life :) I think before he was a breeding bird he must have been a loved pet 😢

@jojo1828v Hi I'm in the uk .No I'm not planning on getting another female as the male is so friendly I really don't feel he is a suitable breeding bird so he will be a spoilt pet now like he obviously once was and be staying with me

…Kingsley’s colors are so vibrant and he does seem more calm than many other medium sized parrots. His voice is adorable. 🥰 Question: if you search Brooke Shields Parrot, is that a King Parrot that was in the movie with her ? It looks very similar. Thank you for the species spotlight. ❤️💚 🦜 🌾

The wild king parrots here are friendly. Beepbeep and his bird-wife Misses Beep will both fly to me, step up and Misses Beep lets be nuzzle her feathers. They come inside if I leave the door open, but they're very polite and go outside for the toilet. Favourite foods are peanuts. Beepbeep evel lets me put him on the kitchen scales to keep track of his weight to make sure I'm not giving him too many treats. Some mornings he sits outside my window and calls me out to give him breakfast. I've got it so good here in QLD. I love Kingsley dancing at 11:33

Ive been feeding and taking care of the local king parrots around my place for awhile now i probably dint know as much as you but that one seems a little chubby if i were you id probably cut back on the food a little
@Loveofpets23 күн бұрын
Kingsley weighs 213 grams. The average weight is between 200 to 300 grams. Kingsley when relaxed looks fluffier ( fatter) when he is alert and smoothed out I assure you he looks a lot thinner. He is not overweight. Wild parrots are always on the move and may have a hard time finding food so they can be thinner than a pet parrot that always has food and is less active. Thanks for your concern.

After years of watching your videos and falling in love with Kimgsley I finally got an australian king parrot of my own in December, he is so much fun and loves to preen my hair and sit on my head. More people need to discover just how wonderful this species is, they're a fantastic companion bird and mine makes me so happy everyday 😊

@jojo1828v I'm in the UK and they seem to be quite rare here too, I spent months looking but could only find 1 adult aviary bird, eventually found my handreared boy but it took a long time. Maybe not many people are breeding them?
@jojo1828v11 ай бұрын
@Pigglywigglywinks I think that's it. Not really a big demand for them.

Thanks for this video Donna! Even here in Australia King Parrots aren't all that commonly kept as pets, and when they are its usually only as an aviary bird. Its so nice to see one as a tame companion bird where you can see the personality shine through ❤ Such an overlooked species of bird that many people around the world would have never seen before. My favourite thing about being Australian is our beautiful bird life 🇦🇺

Hey girl, long time no talk. I might be needing to rehome my KZbin flock of 3. After years of training & content, which is sad. My fam Gypsy Rosed me across state lines and fed me to the wolves & May have done it to others prior, whom are now d. I might lose my home soon. I was taken across state lines injured. Anyhow I’m hoping other Birdtubers can put word out on their channel that Tupeck’s channel birds need a new KZbin home & see if any other BirdTubers on the west coast might want. Cockatoo dances, 2 conures, one sings. They love doing content, & where I live we have few options for rehoming. It’s a predatory state where people lure Vivian’s across state lines to defraud & get d. So out here people animals go to either a zoo, or sanctuary, or one shop that might have ties to the people I had to report, so none are good options for channel birds with their skills. I’ve put their content into a parrot playlist for other KZbinrs to see what they’re like. My entire fam left me for d. As in I’m alone and injured with no help. We don’t have rescues or bird clubs out here who can help. So I’d need someone who can arrange trabsport. I think my fam just wanted to give my assets & belongs to those who helped them, & dump my birds off at one of those places, & not even care what I’d want in this. I had my own life and home and channel… like they just took over my life. But did it cleverly under the guise of saying they wanted to help and since I was injured at time felt I had no other choice. They’ve destroyed my home so I can sell on the heels of what might be a property scam, had break ins and lots go missing. They just thought they could pick me clean. No one cared that I was injured & had been Gypsy Rosed across state lines, the vultures just swooped in shamelessly. So my guess is they’re not gonna care what I want any step along the way. Anyhow asking other Birdtubers to put word out to other bird channels to see if anyone can take these talented birds in the next few months. I would have never wanted this but my options are few. I’m only 47, so was nowhere near de*th either which idk how they expect that to look normal. The other 2 mom brought over here were older family members who died after. So taking over peoples lives and defrauding them seems what they do. I hadn’t seen their day to activities in a diff state to know what they had been up to. Anyhow let me know. At this time I’m not looking for non-KZbin families. They like doing KZbin. They’re good at it.

At a glance for the untrained eye. You are lucky that you see them in the wild.
@richardk6196Ай бұрын
As Donna mentions below, to the untrained eye, the red color will cause non-bird folks to think they're the same. My attraction to a Male King's Parrot is that the colors are similar to a female Eclectus (quite similar actually).
