A TIP I FORGOT TO MENTION: A lot of women are partial to a certain color and tend to stick with it all year round, even if it is too dark. If you're foundation is darker than you're actual skin tone, you can't build the coverage up as much. Be sure to switch colors seasonally if needed!

A tip I found through trial and error-- in the basic original foundation, you can adjust for seasons or undertones by getting a small clean container and mixing some of the foundation with a tiny amount of either Warmth or Glee, depending on whether you need more warmth or more pink. That's how I adjust for my summer looks.

I use the ready foundation everyday with the precision face brush and I actually buff it in with that brush rather than sweeping and I find it blends in a lot better. Also I have found that using synthetic brushes like the soft focus or tapered face brush. The synthetic brushes blend the ready foundations beautifully, it creates a flawless creamy finish to the skin

For using the correcting cream concealer or the stroke of light, my clients have found mixing it with an eye cream, makes it a little lighter so you won't have the creasing problems! - fellow B.E. B. A.

i always learn so much from you Shelbey! i didn't know that well-rested could be used as foundation! i don't think i would personally do it that way because it's way too light for me (and i don't really use it anyway)... i stopped wearing bisque because i thought it was too light, but i will most likely mix it in with the foundation. i'm finally down to 3 unopened pots of original foundation. woohoo! and i totally agree with you about the precision brush & READY (cont)...

Oh!!! I also wanted to say that I found a brush that I love using with either the ready or original loose foundation. The SEPHORA COLLECTION Classic Mineral Powder Brush #45 works like a charm. And I'm with you the instructions to sweep the Ready foundation on your face is no bueno. I use the brush I listed and buff. Love it!!!

Yay! so glad you liked it! Have you tried Honey Bisque? I think it would work great with your complexion. You may need to mix a little Mineral Veil in with it in case it's a tad bit too dark but I doubt it would be if you're wearing Golden Tan! And about the READY Blushes...YES a lot of the READY products get that hard finish over the top for some reason and I can't understand why. One of my Touch Up Veils has been doing that! I'm not sure why :(

Just found your channel this week. I've used bare minerals for 17 yrs & have collected so many shadows ect. Love the original foundation best but use both. I don't like the flat top brush myself I use soft focus. Thanks for showing different looks ect with bare minerals. You do a great job.

I have all but the ready foundation, but it's on my list. I love everything that I've tried and I really like the loose powder eyeshadows. If you swirl and tap, there isn't any fallout. For the ladies who are getting that shiny "film" on their READY products, that seems to make it hard to get product off of, I like to use a couple of pieces of scotch tape, press it onto my READY, over the spot, and when you peel it off, ta da!! No more shiny film! I don't know WHAT causes it to happen, but using tape beats trying to scratch off all that packed product!!!

They’re two very different colors. The Bisque is a pinky-beige color and the formula is more concentrated in pigment, it’s used more as a concealer and to remove shadows around the nose, smile lines, under eyes etc. The Well-Rested is a pale ivory yellow color, it’s mostly used as a brightener under the eyes (similar to the brightening color in the Smashbox Contour kit) and it makes a fantastic eyeshadow base. I’ve never tried it to brighten shadows on my face (I use the Summer Bisque for that) but I assume if you have pale skin you could use Well-rested to brighten any shadows. Both are used on top of your primer, but underneath your powder foundation!

At the store I work out, I give out samples daily. Every store is going to vary based on what type of employees and management they have. At a lot of boutiques want you to try it in store so they can show you how to properly use it. Some stores simply aren't allowed to unless they have a special going on :(

For one, I love you videos because they have been helpful and informative to me. I'm a new customer and have never tried Bare Minerals before, but willing to give them a try because I've heard so much about them. The question that I have for you is that I purchased a Bare Minerals Foundation in Medium Beige-Neutral and feel that it will be a good start for me, but I did notice that they lid is Grey and not Black. What does that mean? Is it for oil control..or what? I do have normal to oily skin(oily most in T-zone, but not bad) Thanks and keep doing your videos, your great!! :)

Great tip on changing foundation shades with the seasons. I'm in Medium Beige in Matte and it's definitely getting too dark for me. When I build it up my face is definitely a little darker than me neck. Would you recommend dropping down to medium? I've got yellow undertones. Thanks! :)

Medium will not be much lighter, if any. It just has a pink undertone. I would suggest going with Light W15 - it has a yellow undertone and would be the closest (color family-wise) to Medium Beige. A lot of women switch to this color for winter who wear Medium Beige.

Hi there.. I dunno why I never thought of finding reviews on BM b4 but im glad I found ur channel. I purchased BM last year on sept. Before I bought this, I hv nvr used mineral products and my face has always been clear from pimples/whiteheads (only sometimes I get them). But when I start using BM aft 2-3 months, my face start to breakout and whiteheads poping out alot. So I have stop using BM since dec but went to Sephora to talk abt my issue..and I wonder if diz is true.. the personnel said that it is normal for 1st time mineral product user to hv breakouts and it will heal aft awhile.. is diz true n shuld I just cont on using BM? cuz honestly I love diz product but afraid if d whiteheads will get even more crazy.. thank u

Oh and what I thought was interesting, I was getting some new BE products and In between clients a few said they don't use the mineral veil because it dries their face out. Me and the employee look at each other like (they are soooo missing out!). I guess what people don't realize is there's a HYDRATING mineral veil!! And it's applied in long strokes with the synthetic brush. It is a life saver in the winter!! :D p.s. I have u paused while I write and u have the biggest smile on ur face. LOL :D

I've been using BM since June, and I started out with the starter kit. However, my flawless face brush is shedding all over my face :(. Also, my original foundation looks sorta cakey on me, especially in the cheek area. Any tips on how to fix my foundation & what to do about my brush? :)

Those brushes are notorious for shedding - wash it a few times and you should be good, or try their new synthetic powder foundation brush it’s much better compared to their old pony hair brushes. As Shelby said, for the foundation less is more and if you find the original too cakey/shiny try the Matte version, that’s the one I love. I’m kind of laughing as I respond to a 7 year old comment 😂😂

I just bought the brightening primer on your recommendation. I had the neutralizing primer that I had high hopes would cover my rosacea redness, but I really hate it! It almost gets gummy when foundation goes over it & I can see the colored specks of it in my pores - not a good look! But I am IN LOVE with the brightening primer - the finish is so smooth (unlike the neutralizing) & it really makes a difference in how my foundation looks! Thank you!

If I use a flat top brush for the READY foundation, I like to stipple it on instead of swiping or using the soft focus brush and buffing in circular motions :) I wish I can use a powder concealer, like the same shade as medium 2 correcting concealer because it does crease a little but the powder concealers, they are either too light or too pink. I've tried bisque, summer bisque and well rested :/

Some people buy Bisque's as their foundation! It's so funny cause I'm always like, Umm are you sure you don't just want a real foundation that will last you longer? haha But I have to admit, I use a ton of it on top of my foundation. It really does smooth everything out and hide all of my freckles etc. You need the Honey Bisque in your life, Kathleen! ;)

(cont) i still buff it in with a circular motion into my skin, not sweep. i think that when i sweep, it makes my pores more visible, but with buffing, it hides it a bit more. oh, maybe i can mix in warmth with my bisque to darken it a bit more! i always forget to mix my minerals! oh, one question though: READY blushes... do you get that film when you use them? like it looks wet when you're using a dry brush. some of my READY blushes are hard to get anything out of & some are just fine. Could you mix your Mineral Veil in with your foundation to make it lighter? I have Medium Beige which is a wonderful summer shade but suddenly, poof! It's too dark on me now - I know I really should get a lighter shade but I'm a student and don't have much money to spare. Your videos are so helpful! I've noticed a marked improvement in my skin since I started to use BM, but there's no store on the island where I live. I'm glad you're here for helpful hints :) My biggest question is about the Correcting Concealer, which I've started using to cover my acne. I put it on after primer and before foundation, like they told me in the store, but when I buff in the powder with my kabuki brush, it takes my concealer off and all my redness and blemishes show. :( Should I be using a setting powder after concealer, or maybe try putting on the concealer after my foundation?

The Matt foundation tends to make your pores more visible. Try using the original formula and just use the original matt veil to keep you're face matt

It sounds counterintuitive to use powder concealer to cover acne vs. cream concealer for dry skin. Any issues with dry patches? Thanks Shelby! :)

I hardly ever have to deal with acne and if I do, the area isn't dry so I personally don't have issues with that. When I say my skin is dry, I don't mean it's scaly all over haha I have some areas, mainly under my nose where I rub a lot from allergies, that get very dry but other than that my skin just feels on the "tight" side if I don't moisturize. Some people prefer the cream over powder, but in my opinion, the cream concealer is a measly speck of dust compared to the powder! haha
