I have been driving dump truck, tri tri for years, got into highway driving but after watching this a few times, I'm going to pull a wagon... Kinda inspired me.

Right on. I enjoyed pulling a wagon. But some folks are terrified of the concept of backing up a wagon. I posted another one of turning around without backing up the whole thing. I learned that later, worked fantastic. I'll see if I can find the link.

Here's the other link about turning around. Wish I'd thought of this when I started pulling a wagon. I think it's probably easier to turn around with a wagon than a pup. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKnEp42wZ8aNrbs

Good job with dumping the wagon and the box without dropping anything. Before I retired I pulled containers for 25 years. I pulled everyting from 20 ft.to 53 ft. and even double 20's. One of the hardest things to learn was backing a 20 ft. into a dock and get it straight. In your case the key to dumping both units without getting crossed up is how you steer the converter. In the beginning it's like trying to herd cats. Lol

Yes! A few pointers from other guys as to what to do and off we go! Getting better, but it's not simple. Lots of guys won't pull it wagon at all.

You’re a godsend for making this video. Company I work for is buying a quad in the next couple months and they want me to run it. I’m also a rookie with 2 months experience running truck and tandem pup so this is really helpful.

Right on! I hope you get along fine. I really enjoy pulling a wagon. They're easy to flop over like a long end dump. Once a guy is not afraid to back it up and gets comfortable with that then it gets easier. (Not like I'm some golden expert). I did post another one of how to turn one around super easy that someone explained to me that I'd never considered. I'll try to find the link to post here for you. (I post tons of videos as you can see looking at my channel and playlists).

Awesome job man. I used to pull super B flat decks and I gained a ton of respect for guys that can wheel a unit around like that. Lots of practice 👍

Thanks Clinton. I learned another trick about turning around with a wagon this summer . Posted that video a couple weeks ago. Faster to jack knife the converter under the wagon than to back the wagon around the corner. Wish I had a drone to video it from above. Hope you are doing great.

Definitely takes some practice to back up the trailer wagon and the truck box without unhooking nice job 👍
@lovesloudcars3 жыл бұрын
I'm getting better for sure, but no expert yet. A couple days ago we were unloading on a 2 lane road. That was tricky. Managed to do it after a couple tries. Only to realize afterwards I could have done it differently by backing the wagon beside the pile instead of getting it beside me. Fun times.

I’m on my second day on a new job driving a dump truck with a quad and I’ve been a class one truck driver for 29 years and this is the most overwhelming hardest thing I’ve ever done. I have my supervisor at the site. Meet me when I get back and hop in my truck and teaches me how to do itand I still am not understanding. I wish they just put me on a trailer, but they’re not doing that. They put me in a quad right away.

Holy! I hope this video helped. I have another video of turning them around I'll try to post the link here for you. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKnEp42wZ8aNrbs They're different for sure, but I think I prefer them, Some folks are terrified of them, but it's just a matter of remembering you are steering it with your converter not with your truck. Another really good thing about them compared to long trailers or things like a B train, is you don't NEED to get all straightened out like an arrow to start over again, all you need to do is get your converter pulled back into place, and start pushing it again with the back of your truck. I see lots of guys pull WAY ahead & try to keep it straight as an arrow. Way easier to pull ahead 10-15 feet & get the front back where it belongs & make your way back some more. It will become easier. I hope this helps / and makes sense? Let me know how you make out! I'll be happy to hear from you in a week saying you feel like a pro!

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it and hopefully it helps out people who are learning. We all start at the beginning. After this video I found out I had been turning around not the most efficient way, so I learned something and then I made a video of that as well. I'll see if I can find a link for you. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for further nonsense and entertainment my friend. I found it! kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKnEp42wZ8aNrbs

We call you trailer a quad dog i drove one for years now i have a 5 axle. 🤙🇦🇺 Did 10years in a road train side Tipper Western Australia
@lovesloudcars4 ай бұрын
Makes sense to call it that. They call the pintle hitch trailer a pup. I'd like a November through March driving job in Australia and miss our winter months! Apparently my boss just picked up a couple more, so I'll be pulling one again. Most of the other drivers don't like pulling them. Thanks for watching and for your comment my friend. Stay tuned for more.

Beautifully done mate here in Australia we call them truck and dog, term being dog as it follows you around

I pulled a 2axle wagon for 20 years. We used to use them to haul uranium because they got into small mines so well. They track with you. But have to learn to back them.

Thank you Steve. Hopefully you have no troubles. Once it was explained to me, it seemed a little simpler. I wasn't afraid, just didn't know what to look for. Some folks are just terrified of trying, but it's just a matter of steering the wagon with your hitch. Happy driving! We got rained out today, so I'll be cutting firewood instead.

Getting better at it anyway. Last week we had to back up almost a half mile down the road and unload on a narrow road. Managed to successfully do it. Hopefully I'll get it edited soon. But SOOOO many things to post. - which one first?

how come nobody is pounding the like button. how could you not enjoy that? also i can see why side dumps are getting so popular. i think even i could do that. maybe.
@lovesloudcars3 жыл бұрын
It's not rocket science, just have to have a bit of practice and some coaching on how and what you're trying to aim for. AND more practice! The other day I had to unload on a 2 lane highway. With a cement barrier on the side... managed to get it after a couple tries. Only afterwards I got thinking I didn't need to do it at all! I should have just backed the trailer parallel to the pile and jack knifed the converter into the pile. Experience, I guess, - comes from experience.

I seem to be able to do that side by side thing backing up my garden tractor and trailer without a converter lol

Well, it's practice makes perfect apparently. For me so far it's practice makes mediocre lol. Had to unload on a 2 lane hwy the other day. Finally managed it, & afterwards got thinking " why didn't I just back up beside in the other lane and jack knife the convertor only?" Ah well. Getting better, and really happy with how the video turned out.

@Rumeel127082 жыл бұрын
Pretty cool man!!!! Can you make a video reversing altogether? I just started shifting(yard jockey) for UPS, and today I finally reversed double pup trailers, for now just going "straight" back 😂, but later actually spotting the second being perpendicular to the bay door! I can spot the dolley with lead trailer which is cool!!!!
@lovesloudcars2 жыл бұрын
You're well on your way to stardom! I think the first thing is to not be terrified of trying. Next thing is to believe what you see in the mirror is real. Anyone who's not terrified to try, and can back up a double trailer is well on the way. It's just practice after that. One thing people tend to do is pull ahead to straighten out too far instead of just pulling ahead a bit and correcting things.

Nic job of driving! Don't think I'd ever be able to do that lol

Nothing like backing right into your reach and bouncing off
@lovesloudcars Жыл бұрын
That's the biggest part of learning how to run one isn't it? Some guys are terrified of backing them up, but bending the reach and tearing your mud flaps off are a bigger issue. I was thinking about this video yesterday. I've got a pup now, they sold everything last November, & I have a tridem T880 now and a tridem pup. Thanks for watching and for your comment my friend. Stay tuned for further nonsense and entertainment!
