Stealth Van Camping at Perranporth Beach Cornwall

Perranporth beach has some of the best sunsets in Cornwall and on this chilly winter day I decide to stealth camp in my van at one of Cornwall’s most popular locations.

I do enjoy your stealth "overnight" videos and much support for shining the spotlight on our beautiful Cornwall. I say "Overnight" because sleeping in your van overnight is not defined as "camping." What you do whilst in your "closed" van is no ones business. Camping behavior is defined as deploying awnings, chairs, tables and cooking apparatus or any one single item from the aforementioned list outside your van. I've been stealth vanning for 4 years and have traveled over 30,000 miles through 14 countries and never encountered a problem with local authorities during that time. We always adhere to the policy of leave no trace and don't flout the rules of prohibited "camping behavior." Anyway, great content, much success to you in 2023.

Well, that is indeed an interesting strategy: you park in the most scenic place during the day, you know, the one you wish you could stay in overnight. Then you move into an unattractive place in the city for the night, just to go back to the fantastic place in the morning! Awesome!

You can park overnight in the petrol station car park. We have done it loads,during the winter months is was just a donation to the RNLI.

Only recently found your channel, it's excellent! Why is it so difficult to van camp in the westcountry? Especially in winter when all the campsites are closed down here, We're near Barnstaple so know what it's like. Back in January we went to the Lakes & SW Scotland. Campsites open and places to stop. Devon & Cornwall are missing a trick here.

Staying at the top of that hill is absolutely fine. Done it many times. I have to say you missed out on the best Burgers in Cornwall. Go to the takeaway called Pitsa37, just up from the pub you went in, by the stream.

Morning Shaun. Hoping your Christmas was lovely and that 2023 will be prosperous for you and your lovely wife. (soon have the patter of tiny feet 👶🍼😊) And great you have your van back love. Miss Perranporth terribly, so it's wonderful that you bring this to us. Always went after peak season, much better and quiet too. You can camp in the lower carpark, though like with anywhere, the chances are you 'may' get a fine or be asked to move on. Much better to sneak to the upper carpark or even a side road. I remember when they had that really bad storm, and I and others were ringing up to check if the watering hole was still there and okay! ☺

We always stay in Perranporth, last year was the first couple of weeks in June, previously it’s been the first couple of weeks in July. Even before the school holidays, you can struggle to park in that car park. My fiancé and I went in November back in 2019 and it was so much quieter. We love Perranporth and would recommend it to anyone.

We needed 7500 signatures for the council to take notice off it mate and we now have 8000 signatures so all good on that part, we also have a massive influx off signatures after your video went out so that was a massive help bonus. The council meeting is on 9th February when they’ll make the decision so we’ve got everything crossed 🤞
