I agree about the music. We went camping with friends and they played loud music. I was thoroughly embarrassed and kept asking them to turn it down. They did, for me, but they really didn't care about the other campers. As much as I love them, I won't be going camping with them again 😢

When i go camping i only turn music on if it looks like someone is about to camp next to me , We have some very large campsites here there is no reason to camp on top of someone but people still try to . I go camping to get away from people and the normal Daily life , It grounds me sort of recharges my batteries to deal with society . ✌️

Used to live in Gorran. Funny seeing it from a tourist pov. Couple of things: best snorkelling is the other side of the bay, round the back of the harbour wall there’s a large underwater rock. This is where all the fish sit. Gorran Haven has its own microclimate. It can be raining up the road in St Austell by fine n dry in the harbour. There’s another bar at the hotel too. Great vid. Anyways, just happened to come across your video while surfing KZbin (never really done that before either),and quite enjoyed it surprisingly. Campsites are generally FUN places where families and young people go on holiday, make memories, have fun, and make happy memories. Complaining about people playing music, whilst holidaying (which did not come over on the video sound, at all) is whiny. As someone who lives a fairly isolated life with as little social interaction outside my bubble as possible, I also understand the preference for peace and quiet. However, the world does not stop for me. you or anyone else. Humans have to work (the tractors) humans need to enjoy time away from the 9-5 slog of work, humans need to interact, communicate, talk, sing, laugh and generally have fun and kids will always be loud. If you want isolation, don't go to a campsite. One of MY personal irks, is when someone is filming on their camera and picks up surrounding people, who may not wish to have their faces & personal private "life" aired to the world but are often completely unaware that their half-dressed, bikini-clad self, is going to be viewed by thousands of strangers around the world. I wonder how many would say YES if given the option to choose. Yet that is the way of today's world, love it or hate it, we either accept it or we choose to live our lives as privately as possible.

To be fair that parking area wasn’t a proper campsite, I wouldn’t expect that kind of disturbance in the morning on a campsite or at least not the ones that I have stayed at. Park ups are just as vulnerable to disturbances like you suffered as well and yes I have suffered but at least you have the option to drive away and find another spot. I keep levelling ramps in my camper and I’m happy to use them when not on a site, if I was forced to leave for safety reasons I would leave the ramps and swing back later to see if they were still there. For what space they take up I would rather have them available but everyone is different. I do agree with you as I prefer park ups rather than campsites, much more freedoms and often much nicer views.

Stayed here several years running over 50 years ago, we rented a house that was several hundred years old and used to be a pub, the house formed part of the sea wall, it was very quiet and unspoiled at that time, if I remember correctly just one shop a butcher’s and nothing else, Captain Blaimey owned a boat called Buccaneer and would take us out for the day fishing, great memories of being there with whole family of aunts and uncles, have some old movie film of holiday there, sad thing is everyone in the movie are now gone except me 🫤

I live in the countryside on a farm and a track runs across the bottom of our garden. In the summer we get walkers latish at night ( around 9.30 pm to 10pm ) just as it’s getting dark . As it’s so quiet around here, the sound of talking carries quite a distance. They are not talking loud I’d suggest, it’s just that there is nothing to dampen the sound. Took me few years to get used to it. 😀😀

Hi Shawn I love watching your videos, we live in Cornwall and quite often we go out in our van. Last night me and My Husband was discussing where we will go off to in our Van today, it's only when I put your video on last night and I said to Lee why not go to Gorrven Haven as its not to far from where we live. I lived in Cornwall all my life and its the first time we have ever been here. Glad we came it's a lovely place. We are parked here for tonight and it's very quiet also we are the only Van here. It's just so nice to chill out. Will have another day out in the Van tomorrow, not quite sure where to go yet as there is so many beautiful places in Cornwall. We used to go camping in tents and found over the years the noise levels got louder and later, either from TV's in caravans or groups talking and laughing into the small hours. People forget, if you are under canvas you can hear a pin drop a mile away. Some sites had an 11 o'clock curfew which they were quite strict about, but others it could go on all night.

Can't agree more about music (and shouting, antisocial behaviour, etc ) I can't stand camp sites. Some are OK, but most are not. Just like you can't get on a train or bus nowadays without half the bus shouting down phones, or playing tiktoks and music full blast, without headphones. Parking up somewhere quiet and peaceful, with just the wind in the leaves and bird song is paradise.

Luckily it rained . So after that we don’t go to sites and when we do as a last resort I take some good ear plugs

We used to go out of season & it was peaceful & relaxing, but it only takes one noisy berk to turn up & the whole thing is ruined. The reason I always 'free camped' wherever possible and where legally allowed is other people and their lack of respect for others. Failing that I used CC CL's as it is a max of 5 campers except for up to 7 on a change over night. Unfortunately the 5 camper rule was often abused. One example was a guy with a restaurant in Skegness who drew people in his CL and then put them on a field he wad using as an unlicensed caravan site with 30 plus vans on it. I complained and he decided I was a problem but I insisted I sign the club log and make my remarks. I left and found a CL half a mile away where we were on our own. Later that day I was visited by the police as the original guy told police I had stolen his CC log book! I explained why was a lie and my dashcam actually proved I was empty handed on leaving. The police officer understood immediately the guy was saving his own ass. It didn't save him as I had already spoken to the local authority regarding the unlicenced site and the abuse of the CL system. The site was cleared over the next few days and his CC membership revoked. Don't mess with a professional fire prevention officer part of whose job description is checking licenced caravan sites....big mistake. 😂😂😂

I enjoyed the video and loved the underwater stuff. I'm self employed as a gardener and do a Thursday afternoon over Gorran Havan, it's a lovely place. I did hear about the 'regatta' which in some respects is good for the locals and the village to do things, though the big city second home buyers took offence at the noise and traffic. Re the campsite, they could have given you a heads up before parking up for the night... it doesn't take much. Love your stuff, keep it up, god bless sir

I know people have probably already said, but in my van my diesel heater is plumbed directly into the fuel tank instead of having separate fuel tank in the back just saves on spillages if they occur or obviously leakages love the videos

Yes it's only 15 quid, but Lord help me that is a rubbishy way to treat visitors. Did the manager mention anything about morning noise when he booked you in? Reminds me of a chat I had recently with the adult son of one of my neighbours who has a Harley motorbike and - like they all do - he's replaced the factory exhaust pipes with essentially a fake/hollow exhaust system. And he warms up his precious Harley for 5 minutes idling in the front garden. Priorities? 2% extra wear on your Harley Vs pissing off half-a-dozen neighbours...

I want to transition to van life myself and have the savings to buy a van thankfully. But I'm disabled so not able to build out a van by myself. I could pay a company to do it but what I've seen online they are charging 40k or more just for the build. I certainly cant afford that. So not sure what to do. Just live with a no build? Reason I want to transition to van life is exactly because I'm disabled. Low income with possibility of income disappearing because of government policies and sick of being trapped in my home for 14 years. I can't take being trapped in doors anymore.

I always camp with ear plugs. It's expected that other campers will make noise. I size up the campsite. I find the pretty tiktik snapchater magazine locations are going to have certain type of people. Not my intent to upset thee, but some people aren't happy to begin with.

I'll never understand people who go somewhere nice outdoors only to ruin it with music. 🤦‍♂ With the exception of the occasional music around the camp fire. Even then, don't ruin it for everyone else.
