The “ we use humor to defuse tension “ is soo true whenever my parents argue or something I always make a joke or laugh and they will always laugh even if they were really really angry and they will forget about there argument , i have just noticed it really

Wow, what a cool super power!! Because it is you finding something genuinely funny - is that more Fi? Sometimes I wonder if trying to brighten someone's mood via joke could be perceived as Fe - trying to change the emotional temperament that is - thus be unwelcomed because it feels manipulated/influenced. I've noticed my close ENTJ friend does this too, although most people don't seem to appreciate his silly jokes (yet I definitely do). But I know he genuinely finds it funny or helpful and he will laugh to himself.
@hrkw4041
@hrkw4041 5 жыл бұрын
Jessence Q it’s.... I don’t know if they laugh because i am funny or just because i have to have a certain reaction but i gave them another one ....either way i am doing it to just stop the argument either by giggling even if ther isn’t something funny, just so they can look at me And focus on me instead of the argument or by a silly joke to just crack a smile on one of them so the other will stop and smile too + the entj’s, they do make jokes and try there best to make people laugh when there is an argument but because they are so obvious and i think people think, they don’t care that’s why they are making jokes like nothing is serious ,so they will be angry with them instead and forget about the argument , i have seen it happen all the time with my cousin 😂😂

My advice to infps is to build skills and assets, a real portfolio of utility alongside your imaginative imaginations and value systems. You can do it, embrace and hone the ISTP within yourself.
@infxtv2646
@infxtv2646 4 жыл бұрын
this is such good advice!! it requires yet again, more Se...realizing you can drive your own car instead of waiting to see who jumps in and hits the gas for you. What I mean is, building skills and assets can seem so daunting if thought of in an active way...we prefer to do this passively, floating around naturally waiting to be hit with assets and skills as they land in our open arms. Building from choice and direction is a worthwhile challenge.

Hillary, your voice made me feel like we INFPs really could be magic and just not know it yet, lol! And I completely agree with all your advice! I've been having the scariest but most fulfilling year that's shown me the most personal growth I've ever had just by doing the things I'm scared to say YES to and doing them anyway--I've met many new quality friends, I actually had FUN leading one of the craziest holiday shifts you could imagine in a bakery before Valentine's Day, I've learned the joy of hiking and kayaking and rock climbing, I quit my job that was making me miserable, I went on a solo roadtrip for the first time to a new city a week after quitting, I went camping for the first time, and just...so many more things I can't even include here. I'm shaping the person I want to be by taking the actions of what I think that version of me would do, and the difference has felt night and day. I feel like I'm a totally different person by taking risks, but also like I've never been more myself!

(but i do understand her) .she's seems so grounded and connected. maybe that is because she has also high Fe... Also now that i learned that Se is my polar function a lot of things makes sense haha. i always misplace ALL my stuff, I drop my phone like 3 times a day on average and i never notice anything what is happening around me. like we would walk on the streets with friends and they would be like" OMG that was/ looked crazy did you see that ? " and I would be like " what no where?? what happened!" ALL the time xD .. also I never notice things people are wearing, and I never care really much for what im wearing. and i kind of like to be unvisible in a sense.. maybe i should develop my Se. idk. anyways this was a nice video.

Here's the thing, I usually say Yes to everything when a friend asks me to do something (of course, I know not all INFPs are like me), I've been fighting a lot with myself on not accepting toxic behavior. But when it comes to new experiences... I'm always afraid. Like, I don't mind going on a journey with family, but I'd rather not leave the house at my own town, it's also really hard for me to take a life-long decision like marriage for example.
@infxtv2646
@infxtv2646 4 жыл бұрын
@@helenadetroya9265 Hi Helena! Yes, I think INFPs can definitely get in the Yes mindset (I am personally like this, struggling with saying no and slowing down.) Big decisions are hard, especially for INFPs. I think we want the freedom to act in accordance with how we feel and what we want in a moment...and so many moments have yet to come, and so many feelings can change! Marriage seems like such a committment, that your feeling must match this committment for...well, ever. It's like you close a door to the possibility of feeling different and being able to explore those things. It can be constricting. What's important to realize is you can make those big decisions and then adjust as you go. Nothing needs to be forever. You can decide your own parameters. You have more control and freedom than you think.

@@infxtv2646 That's a nice way to put it, I think my problem is that I think I won't be able to keep my promise, I fear to disappoint people or make mistakes. I think that's the main reason more than feeling restrained by my decision

Also super agree about the importance of change as an INFP. It took me a long time to figure out the importance of change, but when I finally did I did learn to embrace change. One of the books that super helped me with that was the I Ching. If you are interested in learning about change in a symbolic poetic way, the I Ching is great. It is actually called the Book of Changes.

Not a INFP, INFJ but the 2 pieces of advice you shared I love: 1.regarding SE, Go travel BUT IN VERY SPECIFIC WAY. Go talk and learn from your surroundings, and not so much be needy to know every single detail. Allow a little chaos. 2. Say yes. Say yes and knowing that decisions are made at mutiple steps along the way. Again allow a little chaos to bring in variances.

Absolutely with the utilizing Se bit and for magicial it is. Took a martial arts class which is a lot of Se and that was how I found confidence and my voice. 2nd. Also super cautious when it comes to the rock jumping thing. I was with friends rollerblading and suddenly they just climbed up all these rock steps on their rollerblades in like 10 seconds. ENTP finding INFP devastatingly charming confirmed. And the synergy...you use humor to defuse tension...we use humor to create tension - it;s Yin and Yang! I'm a bit envious of your ability to get people to naturally confide deeply with you. I never had that. But then, you know, emotions and stuff. They just get in the way and I don't really have time for that so, yeah, probably a good choice to go to you INFPs for this sort of thing. But I'm rooting for ya! Yeah, in summary, I think you INFPs are great so don't get hung up on the "weirdness" and let the world benefit from you. Don't hide your light under a bushel etc etc.

5:25 Yes! That right there is Se baby. I'm so impressed with that. You are helping me understand what Se IS. I think that is the beauty of INFPs insight. If an INTP can give logical numerical analysis an INFP gives that 'ah' moment that should be obvious but they have this way of communicating it in a 'beyond words' way. That was totally Se. If you look at an ESTP for example, boom that's it. Just on all the time. Secondly, for anyone to have that performance of their trickster is impressive. Another great video. I'm an infp male, like Hillary I believe I'm a type 9 possibly 9w8. I tend to feel I'm a little different to a lot of other infps though. Change has never really issue for me, apart from my Si nostalgia, and my Se is pretty good. Now my theory for the reason of this, there was a lot of death in my family when I was quite young. Incmuding My Father, which sort of thrust me into life, having to grow up fast. Taking on a more Fatherly role, being the New man of the house, and having two younger sisters. I changed schools a lot we moved around a bit. As for my Se, well I played a lot of sports I had a motorbike, we had horses. I grew up on a farm in small village in Australia. I using my Ne and always have done. I would give the same advice that Hillary gave, get on bus talk to the person at the bus stop. Lately I have been giving similar advice to my isfj's friends that I know is struggling with change, and trying New this. I'm doing it right now, winging my way through Mexico and Cuba for 2 months. I've been doing it for the last 23 years. Travelling is the best thing in infp can do, to help them grow. 🙂

Hey!! Thanks for sharing your early life experience...I would think you're a pretty adaptable and outgoing INFP from having to stretch those muscles at an early age - and clearly you continue to do so by traveling so extensively! Good for you. I also feel a bit like an unorthodox INFP since I'm more social and assertive than most. At the end of the day we all have our own flavor regardless of what cognitive processes we use - it's fascinating to see these differences within a shared type! Take care

I like you Hillary! The travel alone advice is a really great one for INFPs. Won't be as terrifying as many think either as INFPs are generally great with people. And can hold a budget. Hillary seems to be confident and aware of SE to the extent I would suggest she might be an ENFP...with a bit stronger se and weaker ti than INFPs...She seems very Ne driven. @@infxtv2646 Hey Hillary! Thank you for your reply. My observations are just based on 15 min video of you being in the zone so I guess when INFPs talk about things they are emotionally invested in they can resemble ENFPs for short amounts of time. I must admit though i have watched your channel a bit in the past (love it!!!) and the same question came to my mind then, but I am no expert at all. And i apologise if i have created type confusion :) I guess what i tried to say was more that you seem to me like a high Ne using INFP almost looking like ENFP sometimes and that is nice to see, as many INFPs (including myself) keep that side of themselves a bit private or hide behind art etc and try to look more logical/rational towards the world. But i guess you making videos is kind of getting Ne out through art/creative self expression. Maybe I am just positively jealous of your Ne usage!!

It's so nice to see other FI doms who talk about being Fe and Fi equal. Am also an INFP 9w1 (sx sp) and when I took function tests it came up as me using Ne(65.4%), Se, Te, Fi, Fe, Si, Ni then Ti(42%). It makes it so confusing tofigure out! I couldn't agree more that once I used more Se, I was happier and felt more confident. Which was so hard as a INFP 9 who wants to keep peace for my inner and outer world. I hated having Fi, for those intense feelings, but now I know how to not just accept but use not control them. I can also relate to being the therapist freind to everyone, even to family. I used to get treated like a door mat and resented it; took it for granted when I was younger. Now, seeing it as you do, making space is such a better balance. I can relate to the part about being an Enneagram Type 9 having made it difficult to figure out my MBTI type back in the day, even though I wouldn't figure out my Enneagram type until much later than that. But basically it took me a while just to figure out what my natural tendencies were, because I'd always gone along with whatever I'd been taught by others were the best ways to do things.

How did you figure out you were bad at Ti? I'm sure I'm infp but when I first read about cognitive functions Ti didnt seem like something I couldnt do so I get why you mistyped for intp And what you said about going to places alone so you dont rely on others is so true😂 when I started uni I realised I dont know the way to my lecture theatre despite going for several days. Because I always go with my friends and I'm not paying attention to where i was or where they're taking me so I never actually figured out the way until I had to go myself I see why you were confused about the Fe/Fi thing you immediately strike me as an INFJ/ENFJ but the enneagram 9 thing makes sense. Hey Naila c: Ti often feels unnecessary to me. If I find myself using Ti it can seem like I'm stuck in this grey cloud of reasoning that couldn't easily make sense to another. I get worried that I will bog people down with too many details if I try to use Ti to explain something, and will end up confusing them. Instead, I'd rather lay out a big picture solution or thought and then work backwards through details if future questions arise or I notice a gap. Maybe I should make a video on this...I have quite a few thoughts :p thank you so much for asking this question!! Also...I've heard before that I have NFJ energy, interesting you point that out. Do you relate to that, being an INFP 9 yourself?

Question one I actually can completely relate. I wasn't sure if I am infj or infp or infp. So I had to do a lot research and learn about other types, took like 3 tests and learned more and besides that I think the questions r difficult to answer because some situations need different ways of deciding and approaching it. But in the end I will go for the most reasonable for myself if I can't decide.

What a beautiful inhibited ENFP who thinks she's introvert. She's adorable like Drew Barrymore. I am an inhibited ENFP who thought I was introverted and understands the easy to see I'm Ne but feel that Fi and Fe are almost equal thing she spoke of. It's the inhibition that creates this Fe type things. One thing that says she's an ENFP is her openness. INFP and ENFP tend to think and speak similar but an E is more open and talkative about their experiences, understanding, and thoughts. The other thing is how expressive she is. She literally pulls faves like Drew. I envy my INFP daughter who can easily keep a straight face. My daughter-in-law is also INFP and both are so quiet in their thoughts and don't share what they think about things. They gather and hold inside. I gather and speak about it. Neither of us talk about our feelings. I only share about mine when they've been resolved and can benefit others.

The part about extroverted sensing will actually be Ne for NP's, but otherwise I agree. Extroverted sensing is not just using the senses, but specifically a learning process through emersive focus on the external world in real time; it's not just sensation but a direction of interest. The only way an intuitive would use Se would be through meditation or physical tasks that have not yet been memorized. The urge to engage the imagination makes this activity exhausting amd usually unsustainable. Intuitives would only do it if they were strongly motivated by an idea or some nerotic fear. For this reason, intuitives are slow learners with physical tasks.

Then I learned through Cognitive Personality Theory who although missing the Ne parts of the theory is spot on in the detail. I did want to say pretty sure the specificity of emotion shes talking about is the Si of Fi rather, as Sensing is specificity and detail, turned introverted Si, applied to Fi. For some reason introverted detail equals extroverted abstraction and vice versa. I also pearned that its an Ne thing to look vaguely around the room as you speak and its an Ni thing to stare you dead in the eyes, or at least hold a steady gaze lol. Or maybe an Se thing really.

At about the 1:00 mark she says "she felt like she used Fi and Fe equally", and that led her to believe that she was an INTP. Did she mean "Fi and Ti"? If that's the case then that's EXACTLY what my experience was for a long time. I was always analyzing everything to death. For a while I assumed I was just caught in the middle between the T and F spectrum, until I found out that it doesn't work like that and you have to look at the functions. Eventually I learned that Fi was actually a form of thinking. Then it all started to make sense.

@@MA-2020 I had to laugh at that. This social media concept of INFP is in a word, silly. Speaking of functions, have a look at Jung's description of the Introverted Feeling type: Still waters run deep' is very true of such women. They are mostly silent, inaccessible, and hard to understand; often they hide behind a childish or banal mask, and their temperament is inclined to melancholy. They neither shine nor reveal themselves. As they are mainly guided by their subjective feelings, their true motives generally remain hidden. Their outward demeanor is harmonious and inconspicuous, giving an impression of pleasing repose, or of sympathetic response, with no desire to affect others, to impress, influence, or change them in any way.
