I am mid Vancouver Island and the Bomb Cyclone left us without power for 30 hours. Over 25000 people without power for sometime, BC Hydro had workers from the Mainland in to help.

Hello Ray, welcome (back) to our back yard. I live in Ridgecrest and haven’t made it out to the pinnacles to camp. my son was an extra in a Planet of the Apes movie they made out there some years ago,. Enjoy your time in the desert

Years ago, and I mean years ago... I was a young Navy officer stationed at a huge Navy air station not far from Harris Ranch in California. There was only a restaurant there then, it was very good. I can't imagine what it is like now.

Been good, 6 years old and has about 60,000 miles now. Pulls like a dream, decent milage and has an awesome turbo exhaust brake. Here is my truck video playlist - kzbin.info/aero/PLp14lzXh07unfbXThZH1DEUszjZ_SJKcc It has a nagging ABS issue with warning lights popping up on occasion but I know what it is and how to fix it now. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqakoXaKf66ig9E Many video are popping up in KZbin kzbin.info/www/bejne/eICQg3isicmZgtk Just waiting a bit as there may be a recall as there is an open investigation by the NHTSA. Other than that there was a steering linkage recall done and a tranny shift cable replaced under warranty. Nice to see the Pinnacles in your series. We have visited but not camped there. Might have to do that this winter. I rode my motorcycle in on that dirt road a few years ago, and not a dirt bike either, but an 1100 cruiser style. Dropped the bike at least twice in the sand pits along that road. Good memories, but not going to try that again. The rocks are very cool anyway.

It's a nice spot, very peaceful, well except for Thanksgiving weekend, lot of ATVs, dune buggies, 4x4s and campers :0) But they will go home soon then I expect it will get very quiet again.

Nice to see you back in the desert :). That road to trona pinnacles was awful, especially for an RV just two years ago. I see nothing changed on that :).

haha, ya. My sleeping schedule is usually 11-7am but Anne has always been about 1-9am. She stays up late reading in bed. So we generally hit the road around 11am and arrive at the next spot a few hours later. We don't often do long travel days unless we have to for some reason.

Great update! Which road did you take to get to Seven Feathers? The road from Bandon going East is a very sketchy drive.

Came from the coast on Highway 38 east out of Reedsport and then turned southeast at Elkton onto 138 to Sutherlin and then I5 south to Seven Feathers. Easy route, fairly scenic with the fall colors along the Umpqua River for the some of it then crosses over multiple times. maps.app.goo.gl/Z8LUeb5z1y2gZKsK8
