Lovie has had one heck of a pro career so far: His jobs have included working for Tony Dungy in the 90s as a LBs coach down in Tampa, as a D-coordinator for Mike Martz and going to a SuperBowl in 2001, building a perennially elite defense from 2004-12 in Chicago (as a Head Coach who also went to another SuperBowl and faced off against his mentor in Tony D.), then back to Tampa in the same capacity for a couple of years, before taking time off to reflect and renew on his coaching philosophy (via shadowing others in visits around the League), then after a TV gig, he went down to a very well known college in the Univ. of Illinois (at Urbana-Champaign) for a few years as again an HC, before coming back to the NFL to man the defense of Houston (as a D-coordinator), and now getting his third pro head coaching job (recently promoted to HC of the Texans) in 17 years!
