@@sewsarahstyle I made it! I’m pretty new to garment sewing, but I was able to get it done and with only 2 yards. I’m 5’2”. I used a hacci sweater knit and it is very warm and cozy. Thank you for showing how you handled the elastic. That was very helpful.

Oh my goodness, Sarah, I’ve made the 8245 set as a nightwear/loungewear set with a robe (in a stretchy blue waffle fabric) and I can’t believe how different it looks in your fabric. All 3 versions look great and very different. I especially love the marbled version - very elevated. I’ll have to make another one (just the jumpsuit version) now in one of my jerseys. Well done you for finding the duplicate. 👍

I like all of your versions. Actually is very easy to lengthen the crotch when the legs are that wide. Just scoop the curve of the crotch down. I would do it little by little until you are satisfied. Sew or baste let’s say 1 cm. down starting on the “U” curve of the front, all the way to the curve of the back. Then, cut the excess fabric in there to see the real effect. If you like it just overlock to finish, if not, scoop a little more until you feel it comfortable. I hope it makes sense ❤
@aidavillegas8052
@aidavillegas8052 Ай бұрын
At the minute 13:40 when you explain that you are sewing from the front “V” neckline to the back “V”. In that same seam, When the front crotch curve starts, continue sewing a lower curve 1/2” from the seam you already did, passing over the inner legs seam until you reach the end of the back curve. Don’t scoop the straight seam, only on the lower part in between the legs until you finish on your back curve. It will feel that you are taking it in, but in reality you are lengthening the rise giving more space to your bottom. You will have to cut the now excess fabric of the old seam because that is giving you a wedge and overlock the new lower seam. You can scoop more as needed because the legs are wide it doesn’t affect them. I’m sorry for the long comment. I hope I’m explaining myself. English is my second language.

Hi thank you! I actually went to do exactly that at the shoulders then realised that it was a single piece of elastic which goes from front to back over the shoulders. They all look awesome on you and I really enjoyed seeing you put it together. If the velour one doesn't stretch with wear, I would cut it in half and add a band at the waist to lengthen it? Or just turn it into pants. They would be such a cozy pair.

I've had the McCall's version for a few years now, and am looking forward to making the short version as pajamas, but had never thought of making it as a day wear jumpsuit. I love yours though, so I likely will at some point. As for the crotch depth issue, you can still just turn the jumpsuit inside out, pin the legs together at the crotch (the seam that runs front to back), re-sew the seam a bit farther down the leg, perhaps a half inch. Just grade down from about an inch in front of the center seam (that runs from leg to leg- the inseam seam, following the crotch curve towards the back, but sewing down a bit as if you were scooping out the crotch in the pattern, and then grade up to join the back seam. It looks like you are taking fabric away from the hips, but it isn't likely going to be enough of a difference to notice. Then train away the excess fabric and it should feel a lot better. You can still overlock the seam the same as using a sewing machine to do it if you prefer. I've done this several times throughout the years and it has always been successful.
@sewsarahstyle
@sewsarahstyle Ай бұрын
That is such a brilliant fix, thank you so much, I would have never thought of it as it feels counter intuitive, but I can’t wait to give it a go and hopefully rescue the jumpsuit! 🤞🏼❤️ thank you. ☺️

I just picked up some patterns in their $3 sale on the Simplicity website, put that in my basket then took it out 😩 I'd live in jumpsuits if I could in the summer, I made a few last year and am in the process of taking patterns from a couple of rtw ones I have that I love, I also have some patterns that I got in the sale and more that I already own so there's plenty to do already but you've kept my enthusiasm going with your fab collection 😂

Hi. Thank you! With the two metres I think it really depends on the width of the fabric. To find out if I could fit it on, I folded the fabric selvedge to selvedge, put it out on the floor and then laid the pieces top to toe on the fabric if that makes sense?!! The trousers are quite wide so that takes up quite a lot of fabric. There was another piece of fabric I had which was also around 2 metres, but I just couldn’t get them to fit on it!! Let me know if you need any more clarification!

Hi thanks, I’m a bit confused at how to do this to be honest! I think the problem I have is that there is no excess fabric at the crotch curve to create any extra space, it’s literally overlocked with no seam allowance at all 🤦‍♀️. It’s definitely a lesson learned for next time though. Is that what you meant?! xx
