Hi, when you use the garden fabric, you secure it in place with pins that you can get at your local nursery. The fabric is wonderful to use. Best wishes

Agree. Landscape “staples” are a must for the fabric. They sell them at big box stores, too. Usually right next to the fabric. I get mine in bulk from Amazon.

For preventing weeds in a way that is much easier than the fabric: you can just brush a mixture of sand and cement in between the pavers and watering everything afterwards which seals it up preventing weeds. If you live in a super cold climate where that will just crack from the ground freezing there is a special flexible mix (pretty sure Romex is one) that works in stead. 👍
@MyBiPolarBearMax
@MyBiPolarBearMax Жыл бұрын
Look up “polymeric sand” is what its usually called. Best way to connect everything and prevent any weeds from being able to break through. If you use it properly it adheres everything all the way through and is great

The fabric that used isn't technically for patios, they make one specifically for that, though it can be costlier. However, if you use the staples on any fabric it will stay in place. Also, there is a paver base if there is enough depth and leveling needed that you put down before the sand. It helps stabilize everything to create less work on leveling. For those wondering about sealing the cracks or preventing movement, there is polymeric sand you can put between the blocks.

I don’t mean to sound like I’m telling you how to edit or film, but maybe a couple of minutes showing the tamping of the dirt, a couple of sanding, and a couple of the staining the 2x4’s instead of 5 minutes on you staining ... that was a little redundant, whereas the others interspersed would have at least been a change. Also, suggestion on spray painting ..l break down a cardboard box to put behind the item you’re spraying to avoid too much over spray ... it helps prevent wind from grabbing your paint, and it will be better on the environment.

Hey, I like all your updates, but I want to mention that if you install a patio near your hous's foundation you need to grade it properly, so the rain goes away from the house. I think this is probably what your meant, but do not "level" a patio, you need to slope down away from your house. I am currently dealing with a wet basement and foundation damage because the previous owners installed a paver patio wrong. The repairs cost thousands, and our beautiful finished basement was destroyed.

*You Level the Ground First!* 1. Do Use the Garden Blanket, then Add the Sand and/or Pea Gravel on top. *Then Tiles.* 2. Paint inside door and Frame 1st, then *Top Down,* but *Foundation work is Bottom Up.* Allow the Project its necessary Time and enjoy the process. Why is everyone in such a hurry on Projects. Looks great! Just one tiny caution. When you get a heavy or sustained rainfall, keep an eye on the area where the pavers meet the house. Depending on how far you all dug down to place the pavers it may have damaged the grade that the builder put on the yard area to make sure that rainfall moves away from the foundation walls.

@@cluisap what Krickette is saying is you want those brick pieces on the ground (pavers) and especially the dirt ground that they are resting on to be slanted/sloped away from your house. You want water to move away from your foundation instead of water pooling near it.

I’m a artist and I’ve done a lot of murals. I presently have done outside murals for my barn by using painters drop cloth...You could copy your leaves onto the canvas and paint it with acrylic paint.Also,you could put grommets across the top and hang the mural on a long tree limb on that wall making a nice backdrop for your serving bar..... I’ve made floor rugs from the canvas and treated it with outdoor polyurethane.that won’t yellow..... Just a suggestion. I’ve even taken stretched canvas and painted on it a farm scene and hung it in my garden area on the barn wall next to it..... Presently I’m painting a large waterfall outdoor scene and will place it on the wall under my upstairs deck that leads to my art studio......it’ll be my rest place and eventually I’ll hang some nice shower curtains as a shade cloth under the deck between the tree trunks supporting it....sort of a special space for relaxation..... Oh now I know what to do with my cinder blocks lying by my other barn....a potting bench...kuddos to you.

The space looks amazing. The only thing that I would change or either pressure washing the old stones and maybe using it as a border around the new stones…so the older stones around the 4 sides with the new stones in the middle coz the way it is currently laid would really really bother me. Also suggestion would be to use concrete construction adhesive to glue down the cinder blocks together and the wood on top so no chance of accidents and people hurting themselves. But all in all…really good ideas and beautiful space.

My husband is not a handy man, i do all the reno work...this spring i asked him to help me work on the patio, he never seemed to have time or the mood for it...summer came and i ended up doing the whole work by myself and once it was done and well decorated he is enjoying the patio...i guess we have to give up the idea that men should be handy but definetely i appreciate teamwork. It would be nice to see some B-roll footage of all the (extremely important and worth seeing) tedious steps like tamping, leveling, sanding. I would say each of these is equal to viewing the boards being stained (which barely shows on camera whatsoever) so if the screen were split into quarters or just do a picture-in-picture thing. That’s me as a content creation cork-sniffer. Either way, came out pretty dope! 😍

This video is “on a budget” and that budget is what we felt comfortable with. Just like you have a budget that you feel comfortable with. I like to save money where I can, like price matching, buying discounted items and doing work myself to eliminate labor costs, so that I can put that money towards other things that are wanted/needed. If you don’t want an outdoor mini fridge then don’t buy one for yourself. But it is not your place to judge other people who do make room for it in their budgets.

@@456pickupstixs Actually, you were very nice about it. You simply pointed out, quite correctly, that $1,200 is not a budget item. The cost of this plus all the other items is no budget. I actually thought the youtuber's comment was the snarky one, and it quite surprised me when I read it. I would recommend taking the 'budget' part out of the title, and just using DIY.

Also with the prints because they're outside they'll fade overtime from the sun. If you want to have the prints outside you need to have a UV protective glass or plexi to keep that from happening (because they'll look pretty bad pretty quickly).

1. Power wash the steps and clean it with exterior wood cleaner. 2. Should have bought weed fabric 6x50ft and metal stakes to keep the fabric down. Derek was right just wrong materials. 3. Get the prints laminated. 4. Should have checkered the blue pavers with he white ones. Or paint the pavers so they all match. 5. Put polymeric sand between paver joints. This will also help with weeds.

Also when you are leveling always start from one end and work you way down. And make your section no wider that 5 ft so screeting the sand is easier.
