Widespread low clouds-but warm temperatures-in the Puget Sound region on a fall day offered an opportunity to practice instrument approaches before the freezing level dropped.
I departed Boeing Field (KBFI) for the quick flight north to Arlington, WA (KAWO) to fly the RNAV (GPS) RWY 34 approach, which offers an LPV DA of 200 ft AGL. The ceiling was about 500 ft. with good visibility beneath the clouds.
After that low approach, I continued southwest to Bremerton, WA (KPWT) for a full-stop landing after the RNAV (GPS) RWY 20 approach, also to a runway with an approach lighting system that offers an LPV DA of 200 ft AGL, just like an ILS. That approach is another video.

Really enjoyed that ride. Good content, editing and length. Any chance you could put a camera on the PDF so we could get a better view? Would personally like that view instead of the wing mount.

I do show the PFD in many shots. If you show the video in full screen, you should be able to see the key information.

Thanks for the videos Bruce. Always learn something from you. Out of curiosity, what business is there with all the vehicles on the approach you flew?

I don't know anything about the auto wrecking yard south of the airport.

Very nice! I also took advantage of the low deck, relatively thin cloud layer and freezing levels around 12k. The ILS 16 into Bellingham was a blast - a lot of that fun was due to our northern cousins manning Victoria Terminal and breaking out at 700 - with a vector towards Mt Baker to make way for the faster 737’s inbound. My son had a soccer game on Sunday in BLI, and we departed KEINO6 returning to PWT RNAV2 with almost the same wonderfully IFR conditions across the Sound that we had Saturday. Always enjoyable watching your approaches!

Yes, although I set the correct number in the minimums box, 355 stuck in my mind and that's what I said. Fortunately, that's 20 ft higher than the published number.

@@BruceAirFlying thanks, enjoy following along, I'm current IFR student at KMYF. Technical question, when is the procedure turn at SAVOY expected/not expected? The plate doesn't say NoPT, is it optional if you are straight-in or did I miss the controller saying not needed? ty mrw

The controller probably should have cleared me "straight in," and I should have included that in my readback if only to prompt for that clearance. But it was obvious from earlier communications (some of which I cut in the final edit) that the HILPT wasn't expected. The feeder route from PAE is labeled NoPT.

@@BruceAirFlying Yes saw the NoPT on PAE feeder. I notice in programming the same course into Garmin Pilot it prompts 'SAVOY Fly course reversal at SAVOY? Yes/No' which makes sense. all good questions for my ground school instructor 🙂 ty mrw
