style apotheca low buy September went very well on my end I noticed my grocery bill was high for the month. For the month of October my grocery bill has been low. I ended up spending money on an online cake class to add a skill to my profession as a chef. I Didn’t realize how much Additional money I had to spend on top of the price of the class. It was more than I estimated. So it’s a lesson learned. However, I get paid 3x’s this month, my credit card will be paid off, and more extra money will be added to the principal balance to pay off my lowest student loans via snowball method. For Black Friday and Christmas, I made it clear with my family that my youngest cousins ages 15 & under would be the only ones receiving gifts. They understand I’m trying to get out of debt. In all honesty I value spending time with my family instead of receiving gifts. Anyone who works in the restaurant industry knows how challenging it is to spend time with family because that we usually work holidays including Christmas here in the u.s.

I just stay out of stores where I’m tempted and have unsubscribed from on line shopping sites. You will feel so great when your loan is payed off. I finally paid off all my credit card debt and the $ I was using is now going into savings. We are such a consumer driven society and I choose not to be that way. Go for it if you are offered a sponsorship you believe in! Glad I found your channel and appreciate your honesty 🌺

Cannot explain to you how much I love your honesty! It seems like in so many peoples’ debt-free journey videos they are just talking about bills they paid off and how much money they make and where they spend it. I like that you reflect on past actions and how spending money now is only for temporary pleasure. It is so hard to think about the future because sometimes it gets overwhelming. But in the future I will feel underwhelmed w/ debt. love you. I started looking into sinking funds last week! I always heard the term but never knew what it was. I am starting to use the app called Digit to start sinking funds so I always have money for things that pop up like getting my dog groomed, gifts, medical expenses or any other things that would ruin my budget.

Love your honesty and transparancy, thank you for sharing your low buy / no buy experience. I find it super inspiring. Last month, I did the 2nd hand september challenge and it went well. I only bought things I needed 2nd hand. I love fall clothing too and I feel you, I need to remind myself that I have enough and I don't need to purchase them. This month I'm trying to do low buy challenge when it comes to clothing, skin care products and nonesense things. I just finished college and about to star working so I need to really do some budgetting, but I'm excited 🤗

Just wanted to say how inspiring it is to hear you talk about your no buy and low buy. You are a rock star! It is so hard to not be caught up in the consumption cycle and my jaw dropped when I heard you mention how much you were able to pay off in the month of august! WOW just WOW! Keep it up. I know its super hard! Thanks for inspiring! As for preparing for the sales and black friday--we made a commitment to stop going to shopping centers about a year ago...that has really helped. Its no longer a pastime and just a must go because something needs replacement. As for back Friday--each year my family has committed to the #OptOutside campaign and done something in nature. I really appreciate your intentionality and transparency. I completed no spend Semptember and am so fucking proud. It was hard AF. This month I will be doing a low spend. I have decided I am going to spend $80 on a yoga package deal for a new studio my favorite instructor in town opened. I decided that this is aligned with my goals and values and makes sense as a purchase for me as it is not an object that will sit in my home. It is my goal for that to be my only purchase for October.

@@wen.ye.y We had one guest each and a registrar (and enough cake to feed 40 lol). You probably know this already but if you get hitched on a weekday it's much much cheaper. We splashed on the rings and the photographer and we are glad we did. For us the day was a marker of the beginning of the rest of our lives together. We are both introverts so a big gathering would have not been enjoyable for us.

It’s a very strange time in our culture where often most of us are left feeling inadequate because we’re being told we NEED things or our lives aren’t complete with out them - yet most of us can’t afford these items that so many influencers are sent every month. The ‘swipe up’ option on Instagram is being so badly abused for consumerism and we truly need more creators like you. You leave us with inspiration to shop our own closets. I‘m taking stock soon. I feel like I‘m almost out of hydrating serums, so this is something I will buy during the blackfriday sales. Basically I will stock up on needs to get me through the year. This way I can save 30-40% on stuff I have to buy anyway. I wont be buying any wants as I‘m saving for the house and my one year of travelling the world.

I’ve made huge changes this year with how I spend my money. I used to watch haul videos and make lists of stuff I was going to buy. It wouldn’t take long for me to go buy ALL those items. Now that I’ve had months of buying very little when I watch haul videos now they actually make it easier for me to not shop because it’s so excessive. So whenever I am tempted I put on a giant haul video and the excessive consumption then reminds me of why I’m not shopping. I know it’s not this way for everyone though 😊

Great video! I'm curious as to how much debt you have left to pay off and what your plan is for after? I'm asking because while I appreciate your commitment to getting out of debt, I would highly encourage you to allow yourself to enjoy your money, within reason, of course once the debt is paid off, because you work for it and part of life has to be about enjoyment. Maybe once the debt is paid off you have a "fun money" budget each month and it's a portion of your income you can spend without justification....if you choose to save up a few months of your fun money for something like a blazer or one month you use it for smaller things or dinner with friends, that's your money to do with what you wish. Just a thought from someone who works in finance, has worked to pay off their student loans and has struggled to find balance between extreme frugality and a "fuck it let's buy shit mentality" - I truly feel like I have balance now and I hope once your debt is paid off you find that for yourself. I'm on a no buy for shoes till the end of the year (possibly even longer) EXCEPT for a pair of boots for work because I have none! I am on a low buy for make up and clothes, trying to use up what I have but budgeting for purchases I want to make in the future.I don't know if it's just me, but I get addicted to seeing the amount owing numbers go down (just started paying off my student loan lol, still got a long way to go). It's one thing to do a sponsored video for something like Skillshare, vs. some random ass company like... colored contact lenses, which is something I get emails for often for whatever reason, ha. Skills are great! Hell, even if you did something for ethical brands, I wouldn't even care because just because YOU may not be in the market for it right this instance, it doesn't mean other people are the same way. Granted, I'm also picking from a business/KZbinr side, but that's just common sense to me, I feel. But if you just went, HEY HERE'S CONTACT LENSES WITH WEIRD DESIGNS ON THEM then that'd be a little uh,,, the heck?
