I just uploaded all my summer stuff yesterday and now I’m on a binge of Indyx videos and I’ve loved this! Defs subscribing and gonna go through your videos! Love seeing someone who’s not just a capsule beige basic wardrobe! I also set myself up for a “low buy” where i want to only purchase 10 items this year, preferably most second hand but I’ll see how i go as I’ve already bought a denim skort and jeans second hand and a new band tshirt from a concert 😅. I didn’t even think when i bought the shirt that it was a new item, i just wanted a memento of the trip and time i had with friends (I’ve worn it 5/7 days I’ve had it lol) but here’s hoping i i continue to buy items that I’ve thought about for a long time like the skort and jeans that I’ve been eyeing new for the past year!

I did leena Norms make do and mend challenge for 2024. Mine was only buying second hand clothing for a whole year! I succeeded and was so happy to find I could get what I needed secondhand. I like the only 5 new clothing items in a year though I think I might do that this year. I decided that my lifelong philosophy now will be secondhand first and then if can’t find it there go new.
@KateyOneMoreTime26 күн бұрын
Ahh that's amazing! I love Leena's year of make-do. I feel like I'm heading in the same direction as you, but the 5 items allowance is a nice buffer zone while I transition and get on top of that little gremlin! Well done on your first year!

Your content is awesome - and your style is so inspiring, thank you ! You're so good to find second hand clothes that fit you perfectly, I'd love for you to explain your thrift shopping process - either your though process in a video or seeing you thrift online or in a shop. I would love to thrift more but almost everything I buy second hand (and also on sale actually) I end up reselling or donating - and I'm sure I'm not alone... Also, I've started using Indyx after watching your videos and you're right, it's life changing ! Thank you again and looking forward to your next videos :D

A very insightful video itâs interesting how sometimes people buy replicas and then pretend they are the real thing, which in a way feeds into that sense of exclusivity that discourages people from buying the real thing in the first kislux ! Like the drama that happened on the reality show Singles in Hell

Ever since I found your channel Katey I feel more inspired to not only read more books but also wear more colorful clothing. I love colors but it’s sometimes a little bit intimidating to wear all color when people around you keep telling you neutral outfits are more stylish. Love your videos and your lovely personality. I’ve been using Indyx since September and I want to do detailed check up of my autumn/winter clothes probably around April to declutter the items I haven’t worn during the season. It’s such an amazing tool to track what I’m actually wearing, as I realized sometimes it’s just me thinking I wore certain clothes when in reality they just hang in my closet without being used occupying space.

I did the math with the indyx outfit combination: it’s tops x bottoms x shoes + One pieces x shoes. Which lead to that high number. Considering that cardigans also count as Tops and I personally would Never wear just a cardigan as a top, the combinations are a Bit lower… But it inspired me to try to not repeat an outfit within this year and also limiting my new purchases 😊

I think keeping track of what we wear can be useful in lots of different ways! I used to feel like my style was boring (I love colour, but I'm far from a maximalist in terms of texture and volume!) but I found tracking it helpful in finding how I actually feel my best!
@s.a.435823 күн бұрын
As someone who also has a pretty boring wardrobe - not that many clothes and I am also more of a minimalist - I still enjoy cataloguing my wardrobe and tracking my outfits. Not only is it great to see everything at the same time, but lathe data you get after a while is also really interesting to actually see what you wear most, what you wear least, etc.

I don’t know how you feel about Salvos, but they have a great online marketplace comprising the best items from stores across Australia. Things regularly go on 50% discount, and shipping cost are very reasonable.
@KateyOneMoreTime27 күн бұрын
I have never loved the set up of their website - I found it really hard to search for things in my size that I would actually like! And if I'm going to have to basically browse through every item, I'd rather just go to a store in person! Have you had much luck with their online marketplace?
@ytknits489227 күн бұрын
@ I’ve found some good things, and I’ve found their size filtering fairly good (though certainly not perfect). I’m about an AU size 16, and tend to shop more in the men’s section than women’s. It helps that men’s sizes seem to be way more consistent than women’s as a general rule. A lot of the problem with the site stems from inconsistencies in how things are labeled (I assume each store does their own uploads to the main site). Some listings have fabulous clear pictures, measurements and fiber content, and some have photos that don’t fit the entire item into the frame and very little info at all.

I'm a fellow Melbournian too and always wondered if I could call something "thrifted" if it was bought from Depop or Facebook marketplace etc. Do you think it's common to refer to it that way? I know people in the US do but yeah wasn't sure about here Also how revolutionary is Indyx. I just love it!!
@KateyOneMoreTime27 күн бұрын
I’m honestly not sure what the answer is regarding what counts as thrifting. Honestly, I’ve only recently even started saying ‘thrifting’ instead of ‘op shopping’ - I’m becoming Americanised making these videos! I do think of Depop more as second hand shopping over thrifting (it’s certainly not an op shop!) but it gets tiresome saying ‘thrifting and secondhand shopping’ every time. That also gets me thinking of shops like Savers which, yes are secondhand and function much like a traditional op shop, but are for profit. I’m not sure where the line is with any of these terms! 🤷🏻♀️ I’m glad you’re enjoying Indyx!

Hello! I found your channel recently and I love it! I’m a big Leena Norms fan and always looking for similar creators. ❤ I noticed you were buying Suk clothing secondhand although it is a company you don’t support and I wondered whether you had any thoughts on the argument that wearing brands or items secondhand is still supporting the company/industry via its promotion. I think about this often as I am trying to be a more vegan consumer and often find myself wondering whether to buy leather and wool items secondhand. Happy New Year to you! 🎉
@KateyOneMoreTime26 күн бұрын
@@SarahV-se2db hey! So glad you’re enjoy the videos 🥰 as for your question, for me it’s pretty simple. I don’t want my money going to suk, so purchasing the pants second hand means I achieve that. I’m not a model who is promoting clothes by simply wearing them, and on the off chance someone asks me where my pants from, I see that as an opportunity to have a conversation about why I don’t support the company. I think being online does complicate that slightly, especially in videos like this where I’m specifically talking about what I’m wearing, which is why I add the disclaimer I do. Which, again, is a good way to make it clear to my audience what my values are and to hopefully encourage them to think about the companies they are supporting, too. You’ll never see an affiliate link for Suk in my description! Leather for vegans I think can be a slightly more complicated, but I think it comes down to why you don’t want to buy leather. Is it because you don’t want to contribute to the industry? Well, buying secondhand doesn’t so I think it’s a great option. But if it’s because you find the leather actually gross, then that’s valid, too. What I’m less interested in (whether it’s leather or suk) is attempting to perform a set of morals. It’s the same with BDS or boycotting in general. I’m not boycotting because I want to be morally pure, I’m boycotting because I want to use my limited consumer power to make a change in the world, because I don’t want my money contributing to something I disagree with. Hope that makes sense :)
@SarahV-se2db26 күн бұрын
Thank you for your response! That’s definitely given me food for thought. I think it is so important to remember the goal of an action and not to get trapped into “I’m a bad person because X” type thinking. 🧐✨

I want to do a low buy this year. the rules are I can only buy 12 items (new or secondhand) I just need to slow down my purchases and that why I do not do any distinction between ''new'' versus secondhand. it doesn't include workout gear but include accessories (purses, belts, shoes and clothing) I do not need anything I have a VERY large closet but know my shopping habit and going cold turkey is not realistic for me. So the goal is 12 items technically 1 per month but if I skip a month it can be roll to the next month (I'm really thinking during summer I might not buy anything but November and December are usually months I spend more so that will probably months I purchased more then 1 items). of course I will keep purchased secondhand clothing first, then local designers and then whatever... also I will try not buying anything for the US I'm boycotting them.
@KateyOneMoreTime27 күн бұрын
I love your plan! That's a really smart way to approach a low buy. I hope you find it fulfilling! ❤️
@s.a.435823 күн бұрын
I like the idea of not distinguishing between new and secondhand items. To me it defeats the point of a low buy year if one can still buy unlimited items secondhand. And while secondhand is better than buying new, it is still consumerism if buying items one doesn’t actually need or without really considering the purchase well.

it's a little shocking that the average indyx user wears less than 35% of their wardrobe annually.
@KateyOneMoreTime27 күн бұрын
I was shocked when I saw that, too. But I wonder if that might be skewed lower due to the app (and therefore users, too) being new, or maybe lots of people start with the app but don't continue logging their outfits? I wish we could see this statistic with those outliers removed or accounted for, because you're right, 35% is a concerning number!
